Reggie Wayne (1 Viewer)

Border Patrol

I'm remembering a couple seasons ago when Wayne had a season that no way lived up to this years draft position. That was the year that Brandon Stokely was so successful in taking advantage of the short and intermediate openings in the middle of the field. The next year Brandon gets hurt, next year gone, and most have forgot about Wayne's lack of production that year. Well, in my opinion Anthony Gonzalez could have that same effect that Brandon Stokely did. I want to take Wayne with my early pick in the third, but I'm a safety first kinda drafter and I'm a bit afraid of him this year.

Please comment. Thank you.

I think this is much more likely to happen to Marvin Harrison than Wayne this year.

As a Buckeye homer, I'm pretty sure that Gonzalez is not ready to take that significant of a role.

I do agree that Harrison would be more likely to fall off if anything crazy happened.

I am confused by your post. In 04, Stokely posted 1077 and 10 Tds. That same year, Wayne posted 1210 and 12. In 05, Wayne disappointed with 1055 and 5 while Stokely also came in low at 543 and and 1. In 06, Stokely barely played, while Wayne had another great season 1310 and 9. Wayne will be fine, don't over think this.

but '07 is an add year.

I think Wayne is as safe a bet as any player in the league.
:lmao: I think you can put 80+ rec, 1200+ yds, and 8+ TDs in the bank.....it's practically guaranteed with Manning throwing the ball to him. Harrison limits his upside, but after Smith, Ocho Cinco, Holt, and Owens are gone, I think you have to consider Wayne as the 5th WR off the board.I wouldn't worry about Gonzalez.....he's a rookie, and he's no Calvin Johnson.

People have been saying that Harrison is going to start slipping and Wayne will final take over as the #1 WR for the last few years, but Harrison proves them wrong every year. I mean the odds would seem to be in Wayne's favor based on their respective ages.....but it hasn't happened. As for Gonzalez.....I don't think he'll make that big of an impact.....on Wayne or Harrison's numbers this year. Perhaps in a year or two once he learns to run precise routes and has a true grasp of the offense he will.
