Reggie Wayne (1 Viewer)

i read a few weeks back that dungy was going to put reggie in the slot and gonzo outside where he is more comfortable and succeded last year when harrison was out. wayne was good with this because stokley had seen alot of targets there in years past.

i dont know if this has actually happened (reggie has struggled the last 3 weeks now) or what?

if this is the case...will he continue to work out of the slot and will it be just a matter of time before he adjusts???

whats your opinion on his situation???

Who really knows? It's all speculation at this point on how they will use him and work him into the offense. He was battling an injury this week. Should you panic and trade him? No. Fairly easy schedule ahead and has a top QB throwing him the ball.

I don't see why they won't put Marvin in the slot, and keep Wayne/GonzoLite on the outside. Marvin has lost significant straight speed, but could function better on short slants.

RE: Wayne, I'd buy low, but if I'm an owner, I hold.

 I agree on wayne....all around, he's (and I don't necessarily mean FF wise) one of the top 3 WR's in the game. He runs routes, catches well, etc, he's the real deal. And, no, I'm not a Colts homer, I'm a Cowboys fan living in NJ (definitely laying low today), but have always liked Wayne's game since he became a Colt, so I've watched his career somewhat closely

It did not seem to me that they were lining Reggie up in the slot very much? I thought he played his normal position and I thought he looked and played real well and did not look very injured.

 He looked to me like he was moving very well last night.

He lined up in the left slot 33 times v. GB. In almost all of those 3 WR sets, Marvin takes the right, Gonzo has the left outside. Seems like it was less emphasized last night, with AG lining up there more often. The reason is simply because Reggie is most comfortable moving around (Clark also sees plenty of time in the slot) to different places in the sets. He played primarily in the slot in his first 2 years, and feels like the versatility makes him a better player (at least that is what Dungy is selling, and Reggie bought it).

So glad I had Wayne last year, not this year! Although it didn't help much last year since I missed the playoffs...

Nothing is worse than your stud performing way below expectations.

Any thoughts on Wayne for the rest of the year? Schedule looks good, but will they get him the ball?

The schedule really does ease up after this week, which should result in an increase in production . He looked like he was moving well against the Patriots, but he still only got 6 targets. If the Colts get that number closer to 10 he'll be the stud we expect down the stretch.

If you watch the replays of the games it's more Manning then Wayne. It appears Manning cannot plant/get the right footing on the repaired knee, which affects the throw, making some passes short, off their mark etc. Not uncommon for someone coming back from having his knee worked on twice I think this past season? Plus Manning will not admit it but whats his state of mind with the knee?

IMO Wayne is fine, Manning will continue to get better, but I think it take this season for Manning to back in his groove.

Who's selling Wayne low??
 :goodposting: :goodposting: Really, we need to stop with the automatic Buy Low, Sell High threads just because a guy is under/over performing. Sometimes their market value doesn't move an inch regardless. You're not buying low on Wayne because his owner knows what he's capable of. Same reason you're not selling high on <obscure name here> just because he blew up last week .

part of the ? dealt with him in the slot...but no one here was able to answer that part of it (no worries though, i got that part of the ? answered on another sites forum) the buy low part depends on the wayne owner and his teams record. if he is on the bubble for a playoff spot and needs players that are performing now he might be desperate enough to make a deal.

Agree that buy low really just depends on the situation. This trade just went down in one of my leagues. Guy had Reggie Wayne, sitting in the last spot for the playoffs, was starting MJD and Fred Jackson at RB. Traded Reggie Wayne for Tim Hightower. Still able to start Calvin Johnson and Welker at WR. He probably sold Wayne low and bought Hightower high, but he needs RB help badly, is ok at WR, and probably felt like he needed to make a trade to keep that last spot in the playoffs, and it's a keeper league, so Hightower has good residual value.

I traded AJ for Wayne + D ward in a league where two of my three RBs are banged up (Graham and Stewart) and my 4th RB is f jackson. I'm in a win now position as I'm 4-5, but in the end I wouldn't have made the trade if the gap between AJs and Wayne's schedule's wasn't so large.

Just traded Chris Johnson for Reggie Wayne in one league. I've got Marion Barber, Michael Turner and Ryan Torain and needed some help at receiver (have Brandon Marshall, Braylon Edwards, Kevin Walter and Antonio Bryant). I know it's a bit lopsided, but I'm also looking at weeks 15 and 16 for the playoffs.

Mud

If I didn't have Wayne, I'd buy LOW or HIGH. In fact, I did buy high 3 years ago. I wouldn't sell him low, but I'd probably make a fair deal in my favor if someone wanted him badly enough, which would most likely be a sell high.
