Reggie Williams (1 Viewer)

I have Williams in a few of my dynasty leagues and was wondering what people think of him. He's had a pretty slow start to his career, but his numbers have improved every year that he's been in the league:

2004 - 27 catches for 268 yards

2005 - 35 catches for 445 yards

2006 - 52 catches for 616 yards

He was a top ten pick a few years ago and he's still only 23 years old. Anyone think he can become a 1,000 yard guy in the NFL?

He could be, but Jax is extremely difficult to predict at the WR position right now. In fact, they are one of if not the hardest team to predict on the offensive side of the ball as a team.

QB??? who knows what will happen. Does Lefty start and play well and stay healthy? Is he on a short leash?

RB??? How many carries will Drew get. Is it going to be similar to last season?

WR??? Who is going to get the number 1 WR'ing looks. Will they continue to be inconsistent from game to game?

This is a solid team but extremely hard to predict for next season and beyond right now.

Anybody who has seen a Koetter offense knows that the Jax WRs will have more than enough targets to surpass ff expectations this year.

:sleep:Im really high on Reggie Williams this year, he was Leftys favorite target, he was 18th in targets before Lefty got injured, Leftwich is a top ten qb and I think he's entering his prime.

Elaborate this thought please.
Boise St. and then ASU were among the NCAA's leading passing offenses when Koetter was at the helm at those respective schools.Expect a healthy increas in pass attempts in '07, unless of course you believe they brought in Koetter to run the ball.

1. The Pac 10 has the best QBs2. The Pac 10 has the weakest defenses

I like Williams, but don't trust Leftwich.
As soon as Leftwich went down, so did Williams #'s, along with anything resembling a consistent passing game. If Leftwich goes down again and the Jags learned nothing from last year, then expect the same results. If they realize that Quinn Gray is better than Garrabage, then Reggie's numbers may actually improve vs Leftwich.

If he is used correctly by Koetter, I can see his reception total jumping up. He needs to be given routes that take advantage of his size and toughness. Fade patterns and long routes don't fit him. He was starting to develop good chemistry last year prior to Leftwich going down.

This, of course, is assuming that he doesn't get totally lost in his own head.

I thought maybe I was the only one who thought this. By the way good job... Garrabage  They should trade garrard to atl and just draft Troy smith later in the draft.

Reggie William's first 5 games of 2006 while Leftwich was healthy -

2006 Game LogsWK TM OPP RSH YD TD TARG REC YD TD FPT 1 JAX DAL 0 0 0 7 6 47 1 10.7 2 JAX PIT 0 0 0 12 8 95 0 9.5 3 JAX IND 0 0 0 5 2 8 0 0.8 4 JAX WAS 1 -1 0 9 4 94 2 21.3 5 JAX NYJ 1 9 0 6 4 53 1 12.239 targets, 24 receptions, 297 yards, 4 TDs and 54.5 FP

I'm not one for prorating stats, especially when using less than a third of a season, but here goes:

124 targets, 76.8 receptions, 950.4 yards, 12.8 TDs and 174.4 FP

Heading into week 6 he was the 13th ranked WR overall, and tied for 13th with Colston in PPG using FBG scoring.

Depending of Leftwich's health, I don't see why Reggie couldn't surpass 1000 yards at some point. Like EBF said, he's still young (turns 24 next month), and has improved every year thus far. Reggie still has some areas to improve on, but how many 23 year old WRs don't?

The Jags are definitely trying to improve their passing game with the addition of Koetter as OC. With their stable of RBs they certainly have a good enough running game to help draw some safety coverage away from the WRs. Seems like a nice buy low, and great mid/late round sleeper in redrafts.

Does Jacksonville get to play against PAC 10 Defenses?

I've always thought he could be a great red zone WR, but I wish he would hurry up and get there. I may even have to cut him after my rookie draft because our roster is only 22 deep with IDP's.

I'm counting on this (somewhat).I just inherited a dynasty team in a 32 team league that was in need of some major rebuilding. I tried to trade for Matt Jones but the owner was too high on him IMO. So I went after Reggie Williams. I got RW & the 5.7 for the 3.6 & 8.06 picks. Keeper picks begin in the 4th round. At the time I thought I reached a little b/c of the 3rd, but I'd rather give a third than a 4th round keeper pick. Anyway, I think RW can bring some nice value this year. I'm from AR and I'm a Hog fan, and I want Matt Jones to do well in the NFL; but if we compare the 2 I think RW has a better chance to excel as a WR. Jones is still learning the position but his size & athleticism really make up for any mistakes he might make. I think we'll eventually see this as somewhat of a 1A, 1B scenario b/c their total #s at the end of the season were very similar & Jones spent alot of time w/ a hurt hamstring. I guess we'll see. :loco:

Hmmmm....he and Wilford came in together with Williams obviously receiving the hype as the early 1st rounder. However, it's was the more pedestrian Wilford who was immediately used as a red zone target while Williams entered his 3rd season last year with one career touchdown. If he's a great red zone WR, the Jags have been either not buying into it or mis-using him.To be honest, I'm not sure what Williams' real strengths are at this point in his career. He seems a little short on the mental side of the game...unreliable, inconsistent and prone to disappearing for long stretches.

Can anybody tell me what he does really well relative to other WRs...on the Jags or around the league?

He is a bit of a space cadet. He does disappear for stretches, but looked good with Lefty at the helm in the beginning of the year. I am a firm believer that he has been misused thus far. His strength is RAC and can fight for extra yards. His toughness isn't a question either, as he he has shown that he will take a big hit.
