WESTPORT, Mass. —A Westport used car dealership made national headlines earlier this year when workers were caught on tape badgering a pizza delivery man about the tip, and now some of those workers at the same business are facing charges because of an alleged run-in with an angry customer.
Westport police said over the past year they have received around 26 calls from customers of F&R Auto Sales on State Road for numerous complaints such as allegations of store employees forging car documents, accusations that employees are refusing to repair vehicles and arguments between employees.
But, police said, in December an investigation was launched after a Westport woman called police to report that a car she purchased from the business failed to pass a safety inspection, and two employees allegedly verbally chastised her, used profanities and threatened to punch her in the face if she showed up in person, as well as made a sexual comment to her.
The woman's husband called F&R Auto Sales after phone calls were made to his wife to get her to, "go away."
After the police investigation, charges were failed against the owner, Francis R. Correiro, 49, of Assonet, as well as an employee named Mark Dambrosca, 47, of New Bedford.
Both men were charged with threats to do bodily harm and intimidation of a witness.
In January, the same business made national headlines when employees at the business were caught on video belittling a pizza delivery man over a $7 tip.
Westport police said they contacted the Attorney General's Office who said customers have made 38 complaints about F&R Auto Sales since 2009.
