Removing spray paint from a tree (1 Viewer)

So I was in my yard and found out my daughter and my niece spray painted their names in big letters on our willow tree with pink spray paint.

 :hot: :censored:

So besides a huge punishment, how do I deal with this, ie remove the paint.

It's been on there for about a week already.  The leaves hide it mostly from view on the deck (which is why I didn't see it until now) but it's obvious once you're down in the yard.  I'm already researching solutions but figured someone else here may have dealt with this before.

You need to get it off - or at least mostly off - fairly soon.  Spray paint is bad for trees.

There are graffiti removal cleaning agents out there.  Get one that's citrus based instead of a bunch of man made chemicals.  Apply it to the graffiti, let it soak in, rinse with a hose on the hard spray setting, but check repeatedly to make sure you aren'thurting the tree.  Repeat.  If it isnt coming off, use a soft wire brush very carefully.

Good luck.

Btw, the punishment should be simple.  Spray paint her forehead (maybe a big W) and just mutter "shame....shame" every time she walks by.  She's not allowed to wash it off and has to let it fade naturally.  No need for anything else, really.

Leave it.  Whenever she has a request that you might be inclined to decline say lets talk about it under the willow.  Listen to her proposal or pitch as you stare at the pink spray paint, running your fingers over the bark, then say, "I'll consider it."

I'm rethinking.  Given that it's been a week already, and assuming that the tree doesn't appear to be dying...

There are worse things than having a tree in 20 years that still has a faded image of the time your daughter spray painted her name on it when she was young.

Need to prune this from her behavior. Nip it in the bud and set down some roots with her on what's allowed and not. But don't arbor resentment over it.

Foresters paint trees all the time, and I've done it too.  I don't know if they use special paint, but I never have.

More jokes now.

for starters, i would lock the shed you keep the spray paint in.
she was working on an art project with the spray paint.  when they finished, they thought, hey, let's put our names here.  my daughter claims that she thought it would be able to wash off, much like art things they use like sidewalk chalk, etc.  basically, she did something stupid.

I've been collecting pee for you spoofy.

Almost have my 5 gallon bucket filled.

I also have been taking pics for JTG

I figured it out. Find a bear with an itchy back and chain him close to the tree. Problem solved. Damn, I'm good! Let's see some AI machine come up with that one.
