Rent-a-defense week 12 (1 Viewer)

Is this not one of the best weekly articles at FootballGuys?

Even my wife, who hates fantasy football, loves reading Rent-A-Defense. It's just that good.

Seriously, it's been money.

Is seattle def for real or not? They held Bal in check and should have a nice matchup this week, unless grossman can continue the steady play he showed last week vs Dal? They are on my waiver along with Oak who should have a good week against a back up QB. Might just play the safe bet with Cinn vs Cle

Waivers is later tonight.

I have my bids arranged in this order:

Oakland

Seattle

New England (probably the most valuable due to their cupcake schedule)

St Louis

Atlanta

Cleveland has been servicable the last 2 weeks, but time to give them the heave ho.

One of my leagues takes into account return yards (1 pt = 25 yards), so Arizona has actually scored more points than Philly so far on the year. That, and they are playing STL...gotta think that will be solid even discounting the return yardage?

I picked up Atlanta. This is typically the area that I am the least confident in my abilities to pick correctly, so I usually look at Bloom's Rent-A-Defense or Dodds rankings and go with the top choice. Since neither were available by the time my waivers were due last night, I took a shot with Atl.

I've had good luck with Jacksonville the past two weeks, so hopefully I can keep it rolling with a new pick.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Oakland ranked high this week.
I don't see a lot of turnovers in this game. Bears will go ultra-conservative and Forte isn't a fumbler. Still, I wouldn't expect the Bears to put up a lot of points/yards so if your scoring system rewards highly for this, then go for it.

Anyone sticking with the Jags against Leinart? They usually play Houston tough, although the run game does scare me.

I have Det but picked up Sea and will likely go with them vs. Wash. Was really debating between Oak and Sea but went with the more solid defense (sea).

I don't know, they let Obiwonkanobi run all over them, can't imagine what Foster and Tate will do. Plus Hou D might set up the offense nicely against Gabbert.I just threw 18% down on Seattle, gotta use up that cash anyways

Does anyone else have the sense that Carolina is not such a good play vs Indy this week?

I wonder if the Colts w/ Orlovsky don't show up with a decent run game against that awful D and actually pick up a win.

I'm surprised the Broncos are recommended against the Chargers. I guess it's come to that given P. Rivers is an INT machine. Who'd a thunk before the season started that the Chargers offense would be a matchup defense candidate for the "Rent-a-defense" article?

I targeted the Seahawks and Patriots for the stretch run 4 and 3 weeks ago, sucked holding down extra spots for them for a couple weeks while I played rent A D with other options, but now the Patriots gave me good games against Jets and KC, now Seattle home vs Skins(Grossman/Beck), then Patriots home vs Colts (Orlavsky/Painter), Seattle home vs STL (Bradford, team they just dominated on the road), week 15 is only tough matchup with this combo, Patriots @ Denver, Seattle @ Chicago, then Patriots home vs Dolphins (Moore) or Seattle home vs SF (Smith) in championship week.

I might dump patriots for Titans after week 13, roll Seattle vs Rams, then Titans vs the Painter/Orlovsky combo and then against Gabbert in week 16.

It's been a fun ride playing rent a D, currently #2 overall in defensive scoring behind the Ravens owner (who burned 8th round pick).

:cool starry bra:

I got the same set up at the moment. you like SEA vs STL better than NE @ WAS for week 14?
The league I'm referring to gives points (and negative points) for both yardage and scoring, return yard + the typical ESPN style defensive stats. So a lockdown performance of say 10 points and 250 total yards is a big scoring game from a D. Seattle just went into STL and dominated them, they play better @ home, and at least in the scoring system for this league, Seattle since week 5 has 3 huge games (including Rams last week), two middle of the pack and the stinker against Dallas 3 weeks ago, which made them cheap waiver wire bait. Also, Seattle D is really young and still appears to be jelling, their last 5 games are remarkably different than their first 5. NE just put up two really nice performances too, so it'll be a tough call. I'll probably wait to make the decision until the last possible second.

Some of it also how Miller and a healthy Dumervil have changed the complexion of their defense. SD's OL is banged up somethin fierce (lost both guards and LT) and Denver is surging right now.

Trying to decide between Rams (vs. AZ) and Falcons )vs. Vikes_. Currently rolling with Rams and watching Kolb's status. That Skelton matchup looks nice.

Same here. I like then idea of MIN at ATL, no AP, and Ponder who is not afraid to throw a pick. this could get ugly. ATL is rated best of OAK, STL by fantasy pros Top 10 DST experts.

Bloom you write this good Rent-a-Defense strategy article but you don't do Team Defense rankings, why not?
