Rent-a-defense? (1 Viewer)

I've been following the rent-a-defense strategy so far this season, which usually comes out on Tuesday, with pretty good success so far. But now I'm stuck with Tampa Def, and wondering who to drop them for next?

Up until last week it has worked out very well, just no clue who to target next.

Maybe NYG against SEA? I think this is the defense I'm going to target this week.

Other than NYG, I don't really see a nice match up from teams that are probably not owned. Maybe KC against IND. Tampa dropped a lot of sure ints this week, one that would have been a pick 6. So that could be a possibility.

What do you guys think?

Not to hijack this thread too much...but...

The fact that in many leagues you can do this, is what makes "defenses" a somewhat silly aspect of fantasy football (and yes, the same could be said for kickers). For the most part, you are not actually playing defenses - you are just playing defenses against opposing offenses (in other words, you're not trying to choose solid defenses, you're just picking bad offenses).

Some will decry that this is simply "playing matchups" - but I disagree. The saying in FF is "never sit your studs". How many non-sittable defenses are there? 3, 4 maybe even 5 or 6...at most? But after that, they just get WW recycled during the year based on matchups (at least in many league I've been in).

In one dynasty league I play in (and it's the only league I've ever played in that this is the case) - we don't play with defenses. And I love it (and most of us do). It seems a pointless randomizer that at times is like purchasing lottery tickets every week - especially in leagues where defenses score a sinificant amount of points.

This game always gets a lot tougher during the bye weeks since you're picking from a much-reduced selection. I try to look 1 or 2 weeks ahead and find someone who can take me through a few.
