REPORT - Browns to sign DeDe Dorsey (1 Viewer)

Sounds like the Browns are about to announce the signing of DeDe Dorsey and move Jamal Lewis to IR.

Dorsey was impressive in the UFL averaging over 6.4 yards per carry and he also had 22 receptions. He was named the MVP of the UFL Championship game.

He should be in game shape and it probably won't take him long to surpass Jennings and Harrison in the pecking order.

Eesh.

Who is the better pickup for right now? Jennings or Harrison?

In before ... "Neither." ;)

I just dropped Bernard Scott to pick up Jennings......had I seen this earlier I might have grabbed Dorsey. But I still think any Browns RB wont be much help. And I only dropped Scott because I grabbed LJ 3 weeks ago.

Pretty bold statement. Cant wait until the end of the season when we see Dorsey have 4 total carries.

Harrison is a free agent after the year and is in the coaches doghouse.Jennings was released by a CFL team earlier this year and has shown next to nothing in his chances so far.

How is it a stretch to think the Browns will give Dorsey a look?

He seems to have the most upside of the 3. He just finished playing so he is in game shape and he does have NFL experience.

I'll take the over on the 4 carries.

The UFL Championship game was pretty awesome to watch.

It's a shame Dorsey's downgrading teams. Those Locos would destroy the Browns.

Why didn't they go after him before they were in dire need of a rb? I'm really asking, not being a dbag. Can teams go after guys playing in the UFL or did they have to wait until that season was over?

If this is the case, why aren't there more UFL players signing on with NFL teams? I believe that as of yesterday, only 7 UFL players even had workouts with NFL teams, much less actual NFL contracts. Considering that the best players on UFL teams are NFL castoffs, I don't see how even the best UFL team could defeat an NFL squad.

I think the point is no one on the Browns deserves to be in the NFL either.

I'd guess that at this time of year, people aren't necessarily running out to sign multiple free agents. UFL players have contracts, and had to wait until the end of the season before being available for the NFL. At this point, NFL teams are looking to fill needs. Hence the signing of Bryant, Nordin, and Culberson. I saw a blurb online that seven players worked out on Tuesday; it wasn't seven total. They were:

running back DeDe Dorsey (Browns), defensive back Michael Grant (Browns), tackle Jeremy Parquet (Browns), receiver Taye Biddle (Vikings), kicker Graham Gano (Giants), punter Danny Baugher (Buccaneers), and defensive back Matteral Richardson (Buccaneers). So really, 3 signed and 7 looked at is pretty solid.

Dorsey says he hasn't signed with the Browns, yet

Posted by Mike Florio on December 2, 2009 6:52 PM ET

Apparently in response to our report that the Browns plan to sign running back DeDe Dorsey, Dorsey has posted on his Twitter page that he has not signed with Cleveland.

"I have NOT signed with the Cleveland Browns," Dorsey said. "I went up for a workout and physical. I am back home now waiting for more calls to come."

But we were careful not to report that Dorsey already had signed with the Browns. Instead, we reported that the plan to sign him.

First, they've got to place running back Jamal Lewis on injured reserve, which as of earlier today they planned to do.

Though plans can change, we've got no reason to think they will.

From Dorsey's perspective, until the Browns put a contract in front of him, there's no reason for Dorsey to take down the "I need a job" flag.

Really? I watched it for a milisecond so i can't say that i gave it a chance.
I enjoyed it. The quality of play was okay and it was nice to see players/coaches that I'm familiar with. I was kidding about the Locos beating the Browns, but I doubt there's a huge difference between in the Locos-Tuskers game and a bad NFL game. It was basically a bad NFL game with alot more at stake. A title, of course, and the players trying to get noticed for the NFL.I also like the broadcast. The camera angles were a nice touch. A bit more "in your face" without being riciculous.

The uniforms are certainly horrible, but they grew on me.

I like this league and I hope it makes it. They seem to be quite cooperative with the NFL, so I think they will. It's nice to see guys with a legitimate place to play as they try to get back in the NFL.

California Redwoods QB Shane Boyd just signed with the Colts.

Thanks to this post, I picked up Dorsey as a deep dynasty flyer. Hey, he's got a small chance of being the Browns' feature back going into 2010. Right? :groan:
