Rev Up The Kevin Faulk Bandwagon (1 Viewer)

From RotoWorld:

The Associated Press reports Laurence Maroney (groin) will not play in Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Maroney reportedly ran well in a limited practice Wednesday, but isn't quite ready to suit up for contact. The AP doesn't usually break major player news like this, so take it with a grain of salt, but Kevin Faulk should be owned in all leagues. He appears to have a good chance to start in a favorable matchup. Fullbacks Kyle Eckel and Heath Evans would also be in the mix for carries.

The Maroney report IS WRONG. The article that Rotoworld is referring to says MORRIS will be out NOT Maroney.LINK

what magnifies his value is Watson being out. Theyll start Kyle Brady at TE, but he'll stay in most plays and block, and there will a ton of underneath stuff open for Faulk coming out of the backfield. I dont think he'll have more than 12-15 carries, but I can see him catching 6 or 7 balls. If its goalline TDs youre looking for though, dont expect them to come from Faulk. Im sure Evans or Eckel will be the man there. should be another big day for Brady.

With LT on bye I'm thinking he might be the filler to pick up--That offense offers a lot of potential.

Brady owners should be patting themselves on the back right now.The guy may put up 5 more TDs next week.

Whats up with rotoworld this year? They have been horrible at presenting news often times getting things completely wrong.

Ever seen the experts pictures, maybe it the kids running it.

absolutely, and you know Brady being the generous guy he is, will probably hook his man Faulk up with atleast one or 2 redzone looks.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -

...Maroney, who gained 252 yards on 54 carries in the first three games, ran well in practice Wednesday but took some plays off and won't play Sunday against winless Miami.

For the 10th time . . .THE REPORT IS WRONG.MORRIS is the one that is out this week. It's unclear at this point if Maroney will play or not, but he HAS NOT been declared out for this week as of now.

Regardless of whether Maroney suits up or not, I think Faulk is a viable play this weekend. He may not be an every down pounder, but he's already been involved in the system every game, and fits well into the hybrid dynamic offensive attack the Pats have.

Even if Maroney is active and plays, I have to think that there is no need to rush him right back, and feed him the majority of the carries against a winless team with one of the worst run Ds in the league.

For people who picked up Faulk this week on the wire -- and especially those in PPR leagues -- whether Maroney plays is almost irrelevant, IMHO.

Play Faulk and reap the benefits of the one week where Faulk can take advantage of being in a position to get a good amount of PT. Next week, all bets are off.

:goodposting: Not that the first post was bad enough but a homer posts the same thing ten posts later with the same source as the first. Hilarious.

I dont think Maroney's gonna play this week on that GOD AWFUL field in Miami. Theyve got one of the 3 worst fields in the league right now. Belichick has been playing the RB situation like a violin. He's got this team 4th in the league in rushing attempts with the most unsung group of role players of all time, undefeated and with the most prolific passing attack anyone's seen in years. All of this without Maroney scoring a single TD. I just dont see him playing against the worst team in the league on that dogtrack when he's not going to be 100% and he'll be nowhere near a deciding factor in the game. Returning against Washington at home, a team theyll probably look to run into the ground, Id look for Maroney back in week 8.

I'm on the bandwagon as my RBs need some help (if only for a week). I drop Wright (RB Cleveland) to pick him up.

However, to change the subject, nice pic there PackersFan.

Maroney quotes.

Laurence Maroney (groin) says he's "feeling better" than he was two weeks ago, but stopped short of saying whether he'll play against Miami.

"Whatever (Bill) Belichick and the trainers have for me this week, it ain’t no rushing back," Maroney said Thursday. "As much as I want to be back, whatever they say goes." Expect him to be a game-time decision once again.

translation: " Im just along for the ride right now. Ive got a front row seat for the best sports show in the world. Give me a call when a game means something(ie, week 9 vs Indy) ".

with Maroney OUT this week Faulk is a no brainer especially in PPR leagues. Faulk knows the offense, can run and catch with no other RBs threatening his PT this week. Evans may be the goaline back this week but really NEs TDs this year have been outside the 10 yd line.

Maroney must be the biggest FF bust this year

:bag: Get over it?DY has been right on the money with his Pats reports and Maroney reports so far.He has nothing to "get over".He is simply providing very good information. You might want to "get over" the fact that you posted incorrect information.Oh...and if he plays...against the Dolphins...with bye weeks...not sure how the guy would be useless?

Hey Fred........................Just a piece of advice...............

Make sure you know something about the person you are ripping on before you start spewing your comments on here. DY is probably our best resource when it comes to the Pats, and he has been extremely accurate so far this year in regards to injuries, inactives, etc.

Dear God there are a lot of tools in this thread.

You guys need to listen to David Yudkin when it comes to the Patriots. Yudkin knows more than KFFL, ESPN, or whatever other source you can find on New England football. Ignore him at your own team's peril.

It's been pointed out already, but that original report was WRONG. They said MORRIS-NOT MARONEY would be out. The AP read it wrong and now the story won't die.

I dont care who David Yudkin is or what he said or knows. I know the article is screwed up and Maroney isnt listed as OUT. We all know that!!! We all know the following facts....Maroney is hurt, he is limited in practice again this week, Patriots are 6-0 without him, Patriots will play him when he is 100% and not risk him further injury, so if he is 100% by Sunday he'll play, if not he won't its as simple as that. I dont own Maroney but am starting Faulk, bye issues, because I believe Maroney isnt playing. carry on

:thanks: Instead of the Shark Pool, we will be calling it the Tool Pool soon.

• 18OCT07 Afternoon Boston Herald : Running back Laurence Maroney held court today and said he's feeling better, but stopped short of declaring he'll be back this week. "I'm feeling better than I was two weeks ago," he said. "It hurts sitting on the sidelines, but that gives you more motivation to come back." He said he can't let the absence of Sammy Morris impact how quickly he returns.

I picked Faulk up this week. I haven't been paying to much attention on Maroney being out. Has he ever been declared out before Sunday's or has he been declared out before Sunday?

Fantasy Fix Fred has been here for a whole 5 weeks and has taken up yelling at moderators, not to mention an insightful and friendly moderator. I guess the pool lets the piss make the pool yellow these days... Interesting. When my child has a tantrum or yells at me or his mother he gets a time out, it works really well, the child does not run the house. Fantasy Fix Fred missed his :11: today.

Maybe the AP was right after all. From RotoWorld:

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Laurence Maroney (groin) is unlikely to play Sunday against the Dolphins.

Maroney was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday. Schefter may be basing this news on the Associated Press article that said Maroney would sit out again despite "running well" in practice Wednesday. Either way, don't assume anything. Check the inactives Sunday morning for confirmation.

At least it's an early game. Maroney owners and Faulk owners alike will be able to adjust. I had Morris and now have Faulk and will know whether to throw in Ronald Curry or Calvin Johnson as a flex instead.

Like I said in the other Maroney Thread... Evans is going to be the play if Maroney is BN again

(KFFL) Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said he would consider using FB Heath Evans in more of a featured role Week 7.

Not that it matters but I've been on this board since 1998 under a different name. I recently changed it b/c i am in a league with other members who are on this site. I never ripped anyone here so think what you want, I'm simply stating my opinions like everyone else does here. If you don't like what I post, don't respond, I'm not arguing with anyone here. If I hurt anyones feelings who own Maroney in their fantasy leagues I apologize.

I just got off a radio show in New England and they believe Maroney will be inactive as well. He is clearly a gametime decision though so don't mark this in stone. Kevin Faulk and Heath Evans are expected to split the carries if Maroney can't go.

Are you dense or something? We have a guy on our board that has shown with regularity to know more (as in, way more) about the Patriots players than the media...yet you're going to dismiss him and all of his information/opinions? Dude...what gives? There's nothing wrong with somebody knowing more than you. Instead of going simply with your hunches/logic you'll be much better served in the long run by listening to those that know what they're talking about. You're still fairly new here so perhaps you're used to other boards where posters claim to have inside knowledge but they really don't. Many of us can assure you, DY knows his Patriots and you're a fool to not listen to it. You should still feel free to go with whatever you'd like but you don't need to be such a jerk about these matters. Calm down a bit.

Evans might get more touches, but Faulk is the play in my mind.

I think Evans and Faulk are both good plays. Maybe in a PPR, Faulk is a little better play. But New England has been averaging over 140 yds/game, of which Id expect Evans to get atleast 80 of them. He'll probably also be the goalline guy. But Faulk will see plenty of action as well, and with Watson out and the way teams have to respect their passing game, their will be tons of looks open for Faulk underneath. Just depends on your scoring format, but I fully expect both guys to have good games.

Are we forgetting the Pats are playing the Dolphins here?

I could suit up and play starting RB for the Pats against the fish and this game will still be over at halftime.

Maroney will probably suit up, but I'd be shocked if BB plays him.

Thanks David. I think Faulk is the slightly better play due to his involvement in the passing game. In a PPR league he should be no worse than a solid RB3 this week. Evans could get decent yardage and any possible goal-line TDs.
