Rex Grossman will start for the Redskins on Sunday. Decision was made over the weekend. Full story upcoming on NFL.com

F****** skeletor. Everything pointed to Beck starting the season...........
Grossman had more preseason pass attempts, more completions, more yards, more TDs, fewer INTs, fewer fumbles, fewer sacks, a higher completion %, a higher yards-per-attempt, and a higher passer rating. But aside from ALL THOSE THINGS........yes, everything pointed to Beck starting.

Hilarious. It's good to see people drawing conclusions from a few quarters of preseason play.Personally, I was swayed to Beck by Matt Waldman's take on him as well as the fact that he is a bit of an unknown (having only played 4 games his rookie year, whereas Grossman is very much so a known quantity. The guy has a career 54.2 completion %, 6.4 ypa, and a 40-40 TD-INT ratio, not to mention he fumbles every other game.

If you are the least bit serious about winning football games in 2011 then I'd roll with just about anybody other than Grossman. Unless I was one of those people who put a lot of stock into preseason statistics.

If you watched Grossman actually run the offense last season and this preseason, you wouldn't need the statistics to tell you he's not as bad as public opinion would have you think.

Actually Wildman was promoting Beck if you read the paid content he concluded that while Beck was a longshot he may finish only behind 10-12 QB's a the end of the fantasy season.

I was counting on Beck to hold the Fort down while Manning recovers in my 2QB league. There goes that plan................

A lot of sharks were claiming Beck was going to be the starter when Shanahan first announced he was not going to tell us his starting qb.

I like this for Santana Moss. Having said that, I'm sure Beck will be starting games at some point this year
As a Santana Moss owner, I agree that this is better than the dink-and-dunk approach that Beck applied. Having said that, I also agree that Satan Incarnate will put Beck in by Week 7.

I leaned towards Grossman being the W1 starter for the following reasons:

1) Grossman's bold prediction of Redskin success in 2011 earned him respect in the locker room, ie, Grossman, a former SB starter, is a team leader.

2) Grossman and the "other" starters did not play in their final preseason game. Foreshadowing in my opinion.

3) Redskins players expect to win in 2011. Grossman has played in ~40 more game than Beck. Why risk your season opener and team confidence with a less experienced QB?

Grossman may not start throughout the year. If and when Grossman falters, Shanny can switch QBs with his team's blessing. But in my opinion, the signs were there that Grossman would start in W1.

I'm shocked it leaked out this early. I was expecting Shanny to split the first-team reps this week just to keep everyone guessing.

Really!? You expected Shanahan to go in to week 1 with a QB that had half the preparation as the opponents QB, just so the media could keep asking questions? Interesting.John Keim, perhaps the absolute best Redskins beat writer, has been saying for a week or 2 that the starter would be getting all the first team reps this week, whether or not any official announcement was made.

I didn't say it made a lot of sense. It just seemed like something Shanahan might do, just to keep it a secret.

Beck sucks. Why is him being an unknown ( to you) a good thing? at least we have seen grossman win 13 gamesin one season. THeres an above average chance that beck will never win that many games in his entire career.

If true, this is great news. Shanahan likes Armstrong and he is the fastest guy on the team (along with Banks), the deep threat; If Beck really does have the noodle arm people say he does, it seems obvious not to have such a player as a starter. I thought Troy Smith didn't get a fair shot in Baltimore, then they drafted a big arm; Flacco. Shanny has always had capable arms as qb hasn't he? Was Plummer a weak arm? Anyway, Armstrong might be a popular pickup in the coming weeks if Grossman can get it done.

I think Beck has the stronger arm. Beck, for the most part, has all the physical advantages over Grossman.

Pretty sure as long as Shannys son is there and Grossman is available, he will start
Kyle Shanahan has also said a lot of great things about Beck. This isn't the McNabb situation again, I think either of them favor one greatly over the other.

201055.6 completion %

7 TD

4 INT

4 fumbles

1-3 record

1-2 record in games he started (the other loss was when he came in to seal the victory for the Lions with his fumble)

Link

That's pretty much about as bad as public opinion thinks he is.

And yet those stats are still better than anything John Beck has done in his career.

Funny, how I said "if you watched Grossman run the offense...you wouldn't need the stats". And then you came back with stats. Obviously, I'm talking about what I saw, and the potential that was there in this offense.
