I've seen his stats and saw him play if thats what you want to call it...When does he get yanked? At this point Griese or Orton would be a welcomed addition...

At this point, Ryan Leaf might be considered a welcome addition.OK, not quite, but it's hard to resist...

IMO The Bears really are not a playoff team. Maybe by default with Rex. Griese is an avg. QB,but with him in there the Bears are who we thought they were, A Superbowl team..

Dallas NOT kicking to Devin Hester took Grossman completly out his game. It was a major factor in why Grossman struggled and threw those 3 picks. You take Devin Hester out of the game, you take Grossman out of the game. Expect to see more of the same.

Amazing they are so devouted to Rex. This guy is a bad NFL QB and everyone has known it for quite some time. How they can continue to convince themselves to start him or that there's no need to get a solid backup (no offense to Mr. Griese) is mindboggling.

They did kick to him.....they started off not kicking to him early and then they kicked to him the rest of the game. There special teams completely held him in check.

Exactly, they didn't kick to him on the opening kickoff but the rest of the game they kicked to him every time.

I was just kidding, by the way. Grossman stinks all by his horrible self.

Grossman does suck, but he is not the only problem. The receivers drop way too many passes, Benson blows. The defense lost 3 major players during the game.

I blame the offense problems on Angelo and Bears management, They dont not know how to find or judge top talent. The Bears cannot draft first round offensive talent, they let Thomas Jones go. Grossman, Benson, the receivers are all subpar but that is all the team has. This is the fault of management.

How do they win this year? I dont think they can

When he threw that third interception at the end of the game, I said to my wife "That's the end of his career."
Holy cow, that's exactly what I said/did! Actually I didn't say "end of his career." It was more like "the end of his career as a starter." He'll be around for a few years, but as a backup to someone. I don't see how or why anyone would give him a shot to be a starter again...Griese, albeit an average QB, could guide the Bears to the playoffs. That much, I am certain. I'm not saying they would have beaten the Colts in the Super Bowl with Griese at the helm, but I think he would have given them more of a challenge.I have thought that since the murmurs were floating around LAST year, Lovie Smith is being stubborn. I like Lovie, I think he's a good coach. But I think it's merely a pride thing at this point. He doesn't want the media or the fans dictating to him who he should or should not start at QB. Can't frankly say I blame him. I'm sure none of us would want that. But eventually he has to come to the realization that Grossman is NOT the starting QB. He's a below average QB and will not win you ball games very often. Your players will eventually revolt. Your fans have been calling for his head for awhile now. I think at this point he hasn't made the change because if he does, he admits he was wrong, and that's a difficult thing to swallow...

McNabb's performance yesterday may have doomed the Bears for several more weeks. Lovie is just going to keep believing that Grossman is just struggling a bit like McNabb did the first two games and that Grossman can turn it around just like McNabb.

Yes. He is horrible. Bet them Chicago fans would give just about anything right now for some Favre-riffic play out of their QB. :lmao:

I think the real problem may be that he IS better than Griese and Orten.
:lmao: As pathetic as that sounds, I think it is true. Chicago Bears fans, you're in for a loooonnnng season.
Im not believing that for a second. I think this situation is far more 'political' than we are all are truly aware of. Grossman is not the starter because he's clearly better than those other 2 Qs. Dont kid yourself.

Yeah no one who watched the game last night could say he is better than the other two. Thats dumb. You can't get worse than he is. It was like watching your drunk uncle make a fool of himself at a party... You feel embarrassed for him, embarrassed for your poor aunt and cousins, embarrassed for the whole group. IT WAS PATHETIC.

They really miss Jones. Benson is not helping out in the running game which this teams needs to have Grossman succeed. Clearly he can't carry the team by himself, but not many QBs can.

I threw up in my mouth over and over last night. I have serious issues with Lovie starting him again next week. The whole offense is playing poorly, but it all starts with the terrible QB play. No more friggin excuses for this bastage. What is a die hard Bears fan to do at this point?

:whitecorner: to see if Bears fans still try to defend this guy.
Cant do it anymore. Ive defended this guy for 2-3 years and Im done.Time to make the change. They cant win with Grossman
 I'm there with you. I LIVE in Texas and was forced to watch the game with like 5 cowboys fans. I tried to defend him the first half. After that second half, I think I officially gave up on him. I just can't do it anymore, it was a major game and we just showed up with NOTHING. The rest of the team didn't help, but I think it has to start at the QB.Rex is now dead to me.

I think the real problem may be that he IS better than Griese and Orten.
There's a lot of truth in this. As bad as Grossman is, and he is spectacularly bad, I don't think our other options are much better. We have stuck with him stubbornly through two free agency periods and I think this is it. The one silver lining of the Dallas game was that it should be the final nail in the Grossman's coffin. However, the best we can expect from either replacement is an average of about 145 ypg and fewer ints. Putting in either QB will not increase the effectiveness of our passing game. At best it will decrease the damage it does to our field position and defense. But it's fairly clear to me now that there are no hopes of returning to the NFC championship game, if the playoffs are even still in reach. Grossman is a terrible, terrible QB. Why the Bears chose to risk so much on his development I will never know. People talk about losing Thomas Jones as being a big mistake. What about allowing this guy to be our first option at QB for five years? Think of the names that have found new homes in that time: Brees, Trent Green, Steve McNair, Kurt Warner, Byron Leftwich, Joey Freaking Harrington...all are looking like much more attractive options.

As a Rex owner in a 2qb league, he almost cost me my game last night... (i won by one pt.)

Not defending him but he needs WR's that can catch too. Berrian dropped a few easy ones last night that could have changed the momentum of the game. YES, Rex sux but he needs help too....

hire a contract killer. you said die-hard, right?

Good point here too. Just imagine what will happen if the line stops blocking for him.

:goodposting: As pathetic as that sounds, I think it is true. Chicago Bears fans, you're in for a loooonnnng season.
You can put Griese in but he won't give Berrian any chances to drop the ball 40-50 yards downfield. He might minimize mistakes and mount some long drives, some even point producing, that take 12-15 plays with about 4.5 yards per play. But as much as Grossman sucks, he is the best option on the team. Why they didn't spend money or picks on a QB is beyond me. Go ahead, give the fans their blood, there will still be 3-4 bad drps a game, Benson will still be average and the offense will continue to be average.

I own Grossman in a 32 team dynasty and he's killing me! He gets me negative points or maybe 3 points a week. We get negative points for turnovers. I'm waiting for Lovie to show signs of intelligence since I have Griese as well.

If I were a player for an opposing team...I'd love the fact that we were playing against Grossman because he will keep you in the game all by himself. Whether it be him fumbling or throwing interceptions.

He doesn't have an NFL brain. How often does he throw to the WR in triple coverage?! Orjust throw a terrible pass that skips or leads the WR too much and the ball sails out of bounds?

He looks like he's cocky...but he has done nothing ON HIS OWN to provide for that team. He can't take over a game, but he can certainly gift wrap it for the opposition.

He sucks!

The grass is always greener on the other side, the backup QB is always better than the starter when the starter is struggling. I was a firm believer that Griese was better than Grossman last year too, until I saw him come in and suck too. I think that the Bears have a clear deficiency at the QB position up and down the depth chart. I may be proven wrong in the end, but we're talking about Brian Griese and Kyle Orton here, not exactly world-class.

Rex is horrible - Down by only 10 points and he starts throwing INTs like crazy.

All the free agent QB's in the league this offseason and the Bears did not sign one - At this point the situation reminds me of Quincy Carter in dallas. or Brooks in NO.

i play in a start 2 QB league and unfortunately have Grossman on my team. I picked him late so i wasn't expecting him to be a superstar but iwas hoping to get a few points from him as my occassional #2 QB.

I don't know how much i agree that Griese is a lousy QB. I mean, I think a lot of people are basing their opinion on his post-Denver play where he wasn't on a team long enough to really learn the offense and didn't have a lot of talent around him. In denver, he played very well at first and then struggled until he was let go. There are a lot of reasons why a player struggles .. offensive chemistry, coaching philosophy, injuries, etc. Anyway, what i'm trying to say w/ all this babbling is that Griese proved once that he can be a good QB, he's on a team that has some talent around them, and Griese should be given the chance to see what he can do. I mean, how many times do we see a player look like a total flop on one team, only to be resurrected on another?

Griese should be given a shot because Grossman has shown that he can't be a consistently good QB. If Griese fails, then atleast the Bears can say that they tried to find a solution.

BTW ... I had an extra slot on my team and picked up Griese last week, expecting Grossman to struggle against the Cowboys. Any other Grossman owners in 2QB might want to consider the same move if they've got few options at QB.

Some of you people are too negative. The bright side here is that he didn't fumble either one of the times that he tripped over a prone lineman.

They already have. Also, with the WR's dropping passes and running lazy routes, I am not so sure they haven't already given up on him.

 I think this is how it plays out. If Grossman can't rebound with a game against that Lions' secondary, it'll be Griese time. It could be as soon as the 2nd quarter, if Rex can't get anything on track.

I wish we could just fast forward past his 3-10 and 2 int first half and put Greise in. That way we might have a chance at winning the game.

The turnovers kill.. I'd rather see him run with the ball when he doesn't have options (or throw it away).. I know he doesn't run (for some unknown reason).. but finally picked up a 1st down with his feet last night.. he needs to do this a LOT more..

Big dif in the game last night was romo's ability to step in one direction or another away from the rusher (buying timing and then delivering an accurate pass).. Grossman is agile enough to do this - but cant for some reason..

Lots of good posts above that also say its not all his fault.. The Berrian drop was HUGE, could have changed the game.. When you are playing from behind and need to throw, its difficult to be successful.

If he struggles next week, I'd have to think Lovie would put in Griese.. but I think he will be the starter again next week with a very short rope..

Wouldnt it make more sense to start Greise and boost teh whole teams confidence? If Gross has a good game everyone still wonders if he'll throw 3 INts teh next week. If Greise lights it up everyone will think he's the savior. Id rather set the team up for success. They will immediately believe in Greise if he has a great game.

Come on guys. It's only my 2nd full season as a starter. Give me some time to turn this thing around and do what I do best. :excited:
Hi Rex,I think the problem that most Bears fans have with you is that you ARE doing what you do best. HTH.
Last night was a rough game. I'll admit. I didn't have my best stuff but I can do this. I led the team to the SB last year. 1st time in over 20 years. That has to count for something. I just made some mental errors last night. The receivers dropped some easy balls too. It wasn't all my fault. Benson just sucks. :excited:

Amazingly, many NFL QBs undergo drops by their receivers without following them with total meltdowns. I wonder what their secret is? Oh yeah, they don't completely suck.

Grossman has been bad, but I think there are deeper issues with that offense.
Denial is a big part of the Grossman hatred amoung Bear fans. One thing very few Bear fans as well as many in the media are unwilling to admit is that this vaunted Bears defense is a far cry from the '85 Bears team. The superbowl loss to the Colts is certainly on the defense (more than on Grossman anyway) and they were shredded on the ground and in the air last night by the Cowboys.
