Like, in the superbowl?Seriously though, I'd be interested to see him get a shot with a team other than Chicago. Maybe if he's in a different style of offense he could be more consistent. Of course at this point he'll probably only get to play for a bad team....Most Packers and Vikings fans probably enjoyed watching him.Am I the only one who *loved* watching that guy?
No denying he had some success for CHI… and when he took over the starting job after being out with injury the year before the SB run, he vastly improved the offense with his ability to pass downfield. However, as we all know, he was extremely inconsistent. And he had some trouble hitting open players other than with the deep ball. And he had a mental block against throwing the ball away or taking the given small chunk of yardage, far too often throwing deep into double and triple coverage (forcing things). While that stretched the D, it caused way too many turnovers.Like, in the superbowl?Seriously though, I'd be interested to see him get a shot with a team other than Chicago. Maybe to see the reaction on Parcell's face every time Grossman goes deep.Maybe I'm a bit dense, but why Miami?
I don't know about Bob, but I'm a Pats fan.Maybe I'm a bit dense, but why Miami?
That's a good point --- Grossman does run pretty fast.Shouldn't the Raiders be signing him any day now?
Or has Al Davis got rogue on himself?
Lemon hasn't been with Miami since 2007. With Henne and Pat White on board it doesn't seem there is room for Rex in Miami.I think Grossman would be a better backup to Pennington than Lemon. With that studly offensive line, he can hand the ball off and they can run the wildcat all day with a few deep bombs to mix it up.I'm usually entertained watching him play, one way or the other.
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=352 -- yes, Grossman was one of the most fun QBs to watch in recent memory. As for Grossman's career prospects, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he was a successful QB in a different offense. I think he showed some flashes but was inconsistent, not unlikely many good QBs when they're young. He also was not in the most QB-friendly system.I think Grossman would be a better backup to Pennington than Lemon. I meant to say Henne, not sure why my brain hopped in the time machine on that one.Lemon hasn't been with Miami since 2007. We'll see how White fares but I am skeptical.Yeah if you cannot be more on target than a guy named Brink... ouch.(Rotoworld) The Texans' website confirms that Rex Grossman is competing for the team's No. 3 quarterback job.
Analysis: The site confirms that Grossman is in a battle with Alex Brink just to make the team as a third-stringer behind Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky. There's reason to believe that Brink is the Texans' third most accurate quarterback.
Ouch.
It's funny how coaching decisions can so wildly change one's perspective of a player. If coaches had as short leashes back in the 70's as they do now Terry Bradshaw would probably be regarded as a poor man's Kordell Stewart and one of the worst of his era instead of one of the all-time greats. That said, I don't think any number of years would get Grossman beyond his wild inconsistency. When he started hot people compared him to a young Brett Favre. He ended up being more comparable to an old Brett Favre.http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=352 -- yes, Grossman was one of the most fun QBs to watch in recent memory. As for Grossman's career prospects, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he was a successful QB in a different offense. He'll probably ride off into the sunset never to be heard of again, but I would not be shocked to see him successful and playing in the NFL in 2012 or whatever.
well, QB's that have the gunslinger attitude are either loved or hated. I think Rex was a poor fit in chicago. He does throw a very good deep ball, and if he is to be successful, he needs a good O-Line and he needs one of the best deep ball receivers in the game. Andre Johnson MAY be good enough to make a guy like him look good, but the reality is, Moss is the kind of receiver that he needs. (minus the mouth) That guy caught so many bad deep Culpepper passes that were essentially jump balls where he just outmuscled the defender(s) for the ball.No denying he had some success for CHI… and when he took over the starting job after being out with injury the year before the SB run, he vastly improved the offense with his ability to pass downfield. I too would like to see him get a shot elsewhere. But as a starter in CHI, the team had a better than average o-line and rushing attack… so it wasn’t as if he was asked to shoulder the entire offense (he just seemed to approach it that way with some of his decisions, haha).
