Interesting look at the backs. No Forte? I'm going to guess he missed Forte. I'm pretty sure he's gone in 100 picks and grades higher than Kevin Smith. Just guessing.

He has also had Charles higher than most. Forte I could see slipping. I like him, a lot, but I could see teams seeing his ceiling as limited. Just a guess.

Avery and Nelson before Bennett and Doucet. I wouldn't be surprised at all. The WRs are the draft's biggest mystery to me. Manningham is completely missing? Goose has 12 in the top 100. I currently have Manningham at 13, but it feels too low.

Forte is #69.
Between Smith and Rice? Seems about right. I think Rice is a bit overrated by the public right now.
Rice is good, but he'll fall because of his size. There aren't many 200 pound starters in the NFL.
I can't remember where I saw it, but I recall reading/hearing that Rice played between 205-210 (not whatever was listed by rutgers) and lost weight to improve his forty time.

Maybe you can answer this for me Commish or BigSteelThrill, but makes makes guys like Royal, Simpson, and Burton better than someone Im very high on, DJ Hall. Everyone seems to have him ranked in the low-mid 20's and I just dont know why. He had hammy problems during the combine, so that 4.53 is just not true to his speed, or his game speed. Id say healthy he's low 4.4's maybe slightly lower. He's taller than all of them and has similar body size. He's proven to be a consistently good performer in the SEC and had his best years after Croyle left and UA didnt have all that good of a QB. He runs good routes, has a knack for getting open, great hands and ball skills, is a deep threat, and can jump. Ive read his knocks are strength, blocking, and work ethic, but all those other guys have similar weaknesses (outside of work ethic), and then some. Hall just seems very polished and like he could be a very good WR for somebody but most have him in the 7th or undraftedWhat gives?!...whats your thoughts on seeing this guy in black and gold BST?

The knocks against Hall seem to be he his 1) soft. Just not very strong or physical and that may hinder him getting open off the line or getting off the line at all.

And (which feeds into even more so) 2) that he doesn't have the initial burst. Which helps to get open once out of the cut. And he doesnt play "low" either which can help in this regard, he takes hits and isnt the 'take-a-hit-and-bounce' type. Missing the shuttle and the three cone drill really leaves a lot to question. And if you hadn't scouted him well enough, this could be a legit question.

If what you are saying is true about all his good qualities, (especially that he can physically get open) it would appear a team or two would have also noticed and understood without any practice/combines to become more familiar with. A "steal" if you will.

But Im not Kiper.

Rick's notes from the actual link explains why two of those guys are interesting to the pros. does not help with why they don't like Hall though.

58. Eddie Royal, KR, Virginia Tech

Devin Hester has driven up the draft stock of the elite kick returners. Royal returned 59 career kickoffs for an average of 23.3 yards and 111 career punts and average of 11.6 yards with three TDs: 82 yards against Clemson and 60 against William and Mary, both in 2007, plus a 58-yarder against Duke in 2006. A four-year starter at wide receiver, Royal caught 119 career passes, including an 80-yarder against Georgia Tech in 2004. He also posted a 53-yard run, a 55-yard kickoff return and threw a 53-yard TD pass. He's a big play waiting to happen, especially
Jerome Simpson, WR, Coastal Carolina

The draft isn't about college productivity. It's about measurables. Jerome Simpson of Coastal Carolina caught only 41 passes last season for 697 yards and 11 touchdowns – yet he's rated higher on this draft board than All-Big Ten wide receivers Mario Manningham and Dorien Bryant because of one freaky measurable. He has 11-inch hands, the biggest on this draft board. James Hardy is next with 10¼-inch hands. Big hands translate into reliable hands in the NFL scouting community. Simpson also has size (6-1½, 199 pounds), speed (4.42 seconds in the 40) and productivity, leaving Coastal as the school's all-time leading receiver. When NFL talent evaluators view Simpson, they see measurables that could give him a chance for greatness.
My personal feeling on Hall is that if you have average measurables, the one flaw you can't have is work ethic. This will go into a guy learning how to contribute on special teams and gaining strength.

See, what you're saying is basically what Ive come to understand. Am I wrong though, but physicality, technique (low), and gaining strength seem like 3 of the easiest characteristics to teach, learn, or train. Not easy, but certainly easier than things such as route running, ball skills, and hands. And then going by nfldraftcountdown.com weaknesses:simpson - not explosive/lack burst/lack separation, needs to get stronger, and what ive already heard is he has poor route runningroyal - doesnt have ideal size/bulk, not good blocker, struggle to beat jamburton - doesnt get much separation, isnt overly explosive, needs to improve route running. Not that Im expecting an answer, but Im just wondering why these guys (and I picked those 3 bc they were in Gosselins top 12 WRs), but probably most of the other 8-10 wrs, seem to consistently be ranked ahead of Hall when they lack the same facets of the game and are less polished and more than likely havent displayed the abilities I noted for Hall above. Like I said, thats more of a question for a scout and such, but I just dont understand it. Now I have a friend graduating from Bama in the next couple weeks whose seen Hall his whole career, and he agrees that he thinks Hall could be a pretty good prospect and doesnt see why he's ranked so low.I see no reason why he couldn't be every bit as productive as fellow SEC products Bennet and Doucet

I was never impressed with what I saw of Hall. It's hard to quantify talent with numbers, but he just didn't look like an NFL receiver to me.

I read the same thing, but he was also embarrassed by his body fat measurement and took off 7 pounds of fat.

I was really surprised to see Manningham missing too  I thought he'd go early 2nd...

Now it seems like he may fall all the way to the late 3rd/early 4th range?

Is that what you guys are thinking?

Is this just because of the weed issue, or is there more?

Add me to the Hall is soft chorus - at the Senior Bowl he could not hold a candle to guys like Caldwell, Avery, Doucet - Hall could become something in a few years if he toughens up and develops a more solid build, but he's a project, not a guy who is well on his way to being a solid NFL WR like those in the top 10-12 at WR.

Sure wish I'd have had this list when I did my final mock yesterday. :lmao:

These seem low to me:

47. Dan Connor LB Penn State

70. Earl Bennett WR Vanderbilt

78. Reggie Smith S Oklahoma

100. Xavier Adibi OLB Virginia Tech
