During his career, he was a two-time First-team All-Pro (1964, 1969), two-time Second-team All-Pro (1965, 1972), and was named to play in the Pro Bowl three times (1964, 1965, 1969). He also was a part of the Redskins' 1972 team that made it to Super Bowl VII, which they lost to the unbeaten Miami Dolphins. His career statistics included 56 interceptions, 941 interception yards, and 4 touchdowns. Later, he was named both to the Washington Commanders Ring of Fame and as one of the 80 greatest Redskins of all time.
