He had a pretty big following for those that like this genre of music (myself included) prior to his death. He had more than a few good songs. You can pretty much listen to his albums all the way through which is saying a lot for a rap artist. And his music stands the test of time. I will give you that his obsession with the thug persona was ridiculous. He was 5 foot nothing a hundred and nothing kid from Baltimore who was incredibly gifted artistically. This reality seemed to piss him off so he had to "keep it real" and be this ahole hard "west coast" thug. Very annoying for sure. But I find it hard to believe that people can't admit his talent. He had a few good songs but I don't think he deserves the cult following that he gets (even in after death). Also, it's hard to like a guy who was a thug and in FBG terms, not a GB.

They're not familiar with this type of music so their opinions on the subject are largely ignorant and irrelevant.

Do you realize just how little "talent" is involved in being a rapper? They can't play an instrument, they don't need a great (or even good) voice, they don't need to be able to read music. It's usually just a bunch of guys boasting about their posessions, how street-tough they are, and how awesome they are in the sack.Obviously, some are better at making worsd rhyme than others. Or rapper A has a more fluid delivery than rapper B, but let's not confuse a rapper's "talent" with that of a real musician.People that don't recognize 2Pac as one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, rappers of all time, just don't get it and will never get it. They're not familiar with this type of music so their opinions on the subject are largely ignorant and irrelevant.

You've obviously never listened to both his albums.Big pun had the most unique rap style ever. He rhymes 4 times in 2 lines. Big L, well, you've obviously never listened to his only album. Biggie had it no doubt.
