RIP Ultimate Warrior (1 Viewer)

RIP to the Warrior.

I watched Raw Monday night as well.......he looked awful. Broken, limping. It was truly saddening.

His speech from Raw is now so eerie after this.

Fear Not! Back in Eighty Four, he was much more in a Panic. The difference was like from the Moon to Mars from then to last Monday. He could have been at Home when this happened, or if his Desire to go to the Corner Store had called him, this would have been different. Or if he would have decided to Torpedo that Big Beaver during Intercourse, whether he hit his Climax or left with a Blue Ball. Didn't matter. Now he's dead. And you know what they say: A Bird-in-Hand is worth two in the bush. That's Paradise, my friend.

Did I use enough Pennsylvania city names other than Erie?

One of my faves as a kid....how does the WWF not get investigated? Such a high rate of dying young - wonder if his heart just gave out after years of steroid abuse....that seems to be the fate for quite a few wrestlers...sad

I don't know why anyone wants to be a wrestler these days. They're all keeling over or going completely bonkers at about age 50.
Nothing wrong with being a pro wrestler on the indy circuit. It's actually a lot of fun. But, yeah, going to WWE is pretty much a death sentence. For every Hulk Hogan, there's a a hundred Von Erichs.
The Texas Tornado, Kerry Von erich?

First off, maybe they have been. Secondly, unless they are distributing the drugs, they are not culpable.

This. I've run across a few guys on the indy circuit. They enjoy having fun goofing around on weekends and the chance to get out of the house.

RIP Warrior. From what I've seen, cause of death appears to be a massive heart attack. Still, I caught the later stage of his career when I was young, and he was always fun to watch.

There's been enough light shined on the WWF/E over the years. Their Wellness Policy is no longer the joke it used to be; IIRC they're even keeping guys out of house shows if they get concussed.

A guy I work with gimps around the office from his wrestling injuries back in the day. It really takes a toll on you once you can't do it anymore, so I can see why these guys keep going long after they should have stopped. Once you stop, you miss the lifestyle, feel those major aches and pains and then croak. :o

Not a wrestling guy any more but I was when I was a kid. Heard some guys talking about Warrior dying at work and one of them said that they liked the original Warrior better.

Heart disease risk was more than 2.5 times higher in people taking high doses of steroids compared with those not taking steroids.

So what's your argument - that he didn't do steroids or that they don't increase your risk of heart attack?

Glucocorticoids ^^^^^^ not anabolic steroids....find a better link if that was what you were trying to prove

first of all who said he was abusing or even using steroids ....lets start with that ...seems anyone who works out and dies its automatic that steroids killed them...its just so stupid ....give me a list of athletes PROVEN WITHOUT A DOUBT(medically) that steroids were directly responsible for there deaths...not media sensationalism ...proof

There were widespread rumors back in the 80s that the "original" Ultimate Warrior had died and was replaced by Jim Hellwig. Many people still believe there were 2 Warriors, but it was always only Jim Hellwig.

Chris Benoit?
There was no direct link between steroids and the Benoit murder/suicide. If anything, Chris Nowinsnki's study of Benoit's brain indicated Benoit's multiple concussions as being a possible major factor.

Thank you...same with Alzado...no proof whatsoever that steroids had anything to do with his brain tumor

Alzado came out and said it was directly related to his tumor. To think it's impossible for steroids to eventually kill you is ignorant.

His issues were concussions, I believe. Chris Nowinski studied his brain after his death and it was severely damaged. He had an interesting discussion with Chris Jericho on the "Talk is Jericho" podcast a few weeks back if you're interested.

Also, to be clear, I'm not a fan of the rampant steroid use in pro wrestling. Without getting into the debate on the medical effects, the 'roided up physiques just look freakish to me and often have been used as a poor substitute for actual wrestling talent. The Ultimate Warrior was the greatest example of this.

Alzado wasnt a doctor anymore than you are....but licensed doctors have gone on record and said that there is no proof that steroids caused his tumor. I never said steroid ABUSE cant kill someone...everything ,if abused ,can possibly lead to death ...including aspirin.

Yes, anabolic androgenic steroids can increase ones aggression, however, aggression is not rage; aggression is not uncontrollable behavior. No, anabolic steroids do not chemically alter the brain, they do not alter ones personality, it simply does not work that way and it has been proven time and time again. Although it’s been proven because it is so damaging to the anti-steroid camp it is normally ignored but the New England Journal of Medicine has again and again proven that roid rage is nothing more than a myth.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I was never a huge wrestling fan but would turn it on from time to time. I liked the UW but could have sworn he was a different person when I saw him at one time not too long after. I always thought there was another one.

Where and what regulates agressission then if there are no effects of steroids on the brain or personality.

of course you will...you and every other person who`s uneducated on steroids...its easier to just believe the sensationalist media . I have used steroids for over 10 years now and know many many people who use them now and have for 30 years. I dont just talk the talk ,i walk the walk. I have never done drugs like heroin so i would never argue with a heroin user .

In 1992, NFL football player Lyle Alzado died from brain cancer, which he said was caused by his steroid use. Although steroids have been known to cause liver cancer, there is no published evidence that anabolic steroids cause either brain cancer or the specific type of T-cell lymphoma that caused Alzado's death.

It has been reported that Alzado also had Aids from using HgH taken from the brains of cadavers, which was kept hush hush because of the stigma attached to Aids back then.

well whats the old adage? If you`re an ####### already and you take something that alters you(booze /drugs)than you become a bigger #######. Same would hold true with aggression. My personal experience is i just feel better all the time...no anger at all...more euphoric if anything...i feel great about myself ...no rage just happy ...sorry to burst your bubble lol
