Rob Gronkowski - TE, NWE - Week 4 Status Updates (1 Viewer)

according to the team Gronk will play, but Gronk said he was looking at a week 6 return... Something smells fishy with some of these reports... Its gonna suck if he doesn't play seeing I have no other te playing after that... Im in a quagmire, do I roll with Gronk or play O.Daniels who is useless unless he gets a couple redzone tds..... decisions, decisions..

Rob Gronkowski should be back on the field on Sunday night in Atlanta, or so the Patriots seem to believe. Gronkowski has missed the first three weeks of the season while recovering from multiple offseason surgeries. The team seems to think he is ready to return to game action this week, but the All-Pro tight end disagrees, according to the Boston Herald. This battle ground isn’t a new one for the two sides either. The Patriots thought during training camp that Gronkowski could be ready to go as early as Week 2, according to the report. The tight end’s opinion differs, though, as he has been targeting a return closer to Week 6 all along. Gronkowski is being extra cautious about his return to the field this season. After four offseason surgeries, including operations on both his forearm and back, he wants to ensure that he’s completely healthy and fully ready to endure contact throughout a 60-minute game. The caution is understandable, especially after he made an earlier-than-expected return late last season and suffered a re-broken forearm during a playoff game against the Texans. The Patriots’ offense has struggled in his absence, averaging a full 15 points less than last season and converting just four of 13 red zone opportunities. Tom Brady‘s connection with his young receiving corps has developed slower than anticipated, too, making the need for Gronkowkski’s overwhelming presence over the middle even greater. Gronkowski was listed as “doubtful” on the Patriots’ injury report during the first two weeks of the season, but his status was upgraded to “questionable” in each of the last two weeks. So, it is still possible he could play against the Falcons on Sunday.

What is going on here? Is this all part of the Patriots injury ploys?

In the same boat with Daniels and Gronk. I did draft Gronk expecting a week 6 return but I'm getting impatient.

Sterting to get a bit nervous about this, and was thinking of shopping Gronk. Curious as to his value, have you seen him moved in any of your ppr leagues? For what?
You waited 4 weeks and now you're going to shop him? If he doesn't play this week, he's going to be back next week or the one after. Bad move to trade him, IMO
I've been doing the same though I'm not actively shopping. Picked him up as a flyer and already have Graham, and any offers so far haven't been appealing. It's worth waiting until there's need--either mine or someone else's.
Huh? Who are your other "flyers"? Manning, Peterson, and Calvin Johnson? Hope they all work out for you!

And suddenly it all makes sense.

Yap, no Gronk for another week.

Almost traded Cameron in many leagues since didn't need that depth. Sigh. Guess the 4th/5th round most of us grabbed him in for most leagues will still have to wait to return value...

With the reports that the Pats feel Gronkowski is ready, but he (or "his camp") disagree, how do we think BB is going to handle this?

We know he will bench players for fumbles, missed blocks, slipping on a pass route, etc (although not Brady, even when he's screaming like a petulant spoiled little brat during TNF).

Also, last season, Welker got very few passes thrown to him week 1, and I remember reading that this was almost a "punishment" or "phasing out" since he didn't sign a long term deal (I do not remember whether this was just speculation, or a confirmed report). Welker admitted recently that he left NE, partially because of the way he was treated by BB, especially last year (in SI, I think).

Again, we have the situation with Randy Moss in 2010, after he had "went against" the Pats, saying he wanted a big contract. He was phased out, then traded after only 4 games.

Would BB punish Gronkowski for not going along with what the Patriots wanted/expected?

It would be great if we could get insight from those in NE who might have more insight than me. I'm sure Gronk owners will say "he's the best TE in the game, no way will BB do that!" The fact is that he had one of the best (if not THE BEST) deep WR threats in the game, and he ran him out, and he had the best slot WR in the game, and he ran him out. My worry is that he might do the same to Gronk.

And we wait......... now the pup list move makes no sense.... they saved the roster for potentially one game???? something doesn't sound good or he had setbacks, Im not buying this crap. His debut is like it keeps goin farther first week 3, then week 4 for sure now looking like week 6. Is he just gonna go on IR never to be heard from again wtf. this is crap.
