Rob Kelley rest of 2017 season...Buy low? (1 Viewer)

I was wondering what people are thinking about Kelley going forward for in 2017?

To me he’s been a pretty tough guy to get a handle on this season...In the first game of the year it just wasn’t in the game script for him (or any other WSH rb) to get a lot of carries. The second game of the season he played roughly a quarter of the game and he put up 78 and yds and then got hurt and left the game. He is forced to miss the 3rd game. He then starts the 4th game, but gets dinged up again...According to reports he will be back in week six and will be the starter according to Jay Gruden...To me it just seems that Gruden doesn’t have a ton of faith in Chris Thompson (Gruden said “He’s going to keep pushing me for them (more touches) but he’s not going to get them”) and Perine was been less than effective.

Assuming health how do you think Kelley will do the rest of the season? To me he could put up low to mid range #2’s going forward if he can actually get on the field and the coach is true to his word about limiting Thompson’s touches

Agreed. Mid range RB2 seems entirely possible.  Was dropped in my league and took a flyer hoping that he can be serviceable.  Any RB that has a chance of 15+ touches a game is worth rostering in most leagues.

Absolutely a buy low. Thompson will have a role, but while Perine looks to have the physical attributes, he just isn't doing enough with his touches to threaten Kelley as the primary 2-down back for this squad. Washington's D (providing they get through some of the injuries suffered on MNF) has looked strong even without Josh Norman, so they may continue to keep games close.

As an owner, I wish his schedule looked better.  Some pretty tough defenses to go against.  We need the Redskins to have some late leads and get in clock-killing mode.

Is it just me, or does it seem that all the power backs are struggling while the scatback/third-down backs are thriving?

Thinking about dropping to be honest. I don't think Perine has been great-- but I think he's been just as good as Kelley. No reason for them to not play both-- especially with Kelly knicked back to back games. I see a 3 headed RBBC w/ Thompson having the most value if the game flow dictates it. If not-- I think its really going to be a crap shoot who scores. Kelley had some decent runs early yesterday. Also had a god awful embarrassing drop on a swing pass. Id put the O/U at 6.5 catches for him the rest of the season.

It is Rob Kelley's job until further injury. Perine looks like he eats popcorn before games. Perine had a fumble on a pitch that luckily went out of bounds. Gruden HATES fumblers.

Im not going to get into a pissing match about my rb 5? Id rather throw a different dart (in this case- latavius murray). Im out

whats the truth? The Kelley is the lead back in a 3 headed pass first RBBC?

Congrats. The truth that he's a mid RB2 is not true. He's done nothing to prove that.
I think what he/we are saying is that he has the potential to be a mid range RB2.  I think that is possible given that he has a chance to be a 15+ touch guy with some goal line work.

From Rotowire:

Kelley was the only Redskins running back to receive a touch on their opening touchdown drive, while Chris Thompson mixed in on the team's second possession. However, Kelley didn't make an appearance beyond the first quarter due to an ankle injury and was eventually downgraded to doubtful to return, which is generally the death knell for any more snaps. By game's end, though, the Redskins hadn't focused on any one player to fuel the ground game. Kirk Cousins led the way with seven carries for 38 yards, followed by Samaje Perine (six for 27), Thompson (six for 23) and Kelley (seven for 23). Because Kelley handled seven reps in the first quarter alone, he can be considered Washington's lead back, when healthy, until further notice.

To add to this, if Kelley were on the WW this week (I know he is on some ww’s in some leagues) I think he would/should be the #1 add of the week over guys like L.Murray and W.Gallman

Assuming Kelley can get healthy is he the man in Washington? To me it seems he would be. Just wondering what others are thinking

I think if Samaje blows up this week, Kelly could be in a little trouble. He's the Undisputed starter when healthy but injuries give other guys opportunities and unless you're an elite player, you're in trouble of losing your job.

Samaje didn’t do much this week. I think Kelley is a solid pickup going forward, especially in standard

Fat Rob and Derrick Henry are both on both on WW. Leaning towards Henry but Fat Rob seems to be a safer pick.
