Robert Meachem (1 Viewer)

Meachem is still #3 on the Saints depth chart. Is this a formality and he's really the second WR target behind Colston? (Understanding Bush/Shockey will get theirs)

Or is he simply a gadgety explosive toy for Sean Payton to use every once in awhile, i.e. a better version of Devery Henderson?

Meachem still has both Henderson and Patten in front of him in the depth chart. In the long run, I think he'll prove to be a nice WR2 behind Colston. I don't ever see him passing Colston to be the #1, but you never know. Early on, I think he'll be the gadgety explosive toy you spoke of -- but as the season goes on, I think Drew Brees will take a liking to him. There's a very, very good chance he'll be better than Henderson and Patten.

 All we can do is guess @ this point, but I agree w/ JG here. IMO - he'll get gradually worked into the system, seeing more PT week by week. I do think NO is motivated to give him a chance to prove himself and he's had a very good offseason. I doubt he will be startable early on (unless you have a deep starting WR roster option or flex), and most owners will need to see how he's actually being used in the offense. Patten and Devery are career journeymen - so I don't see them as the kind of players who will keep talent on the bench.I'm VERY optimistic about Meacham this season to develop into a solid WR3, w/ upside for more if he takes full advantage of the opportunity. And drafted him as a WR4 on a couple of teams hoping I'm right.Yes, there are options in NO (Colston, Bush, now Shockey), but all those guys will be commanding the defensive co-ordinators attention, gameplan wise. RM must take advantage of opportunities early on, and his role will expand. Don't sleep on this guy considering it's not very expensive yet.
