Roddy White (1 Viewer)

This guy was a 1st-rounder just two years ago. Vick is ousted and I highly doubt Harrington scrambles 120+ times this year. I personally believe Horn is majorly over-rated, and I think the market agrees considering Horn only netted $6mm in guarantees over the first two years of his new contract. Juding from the first preseason game and recent press, it appears as if White has leap-frogged Jenkins as the starter opposite Horn.

I agree. I have been reading some nice camp reports on him. There are 2 names that I believe are undervalued at this time...

Roddy White ATL WR and Demetrius Williams BALT WR

God I hope so. At one point, I had three Falcon WRs rotting on my Zealots roster, it'd be nice if he or Jenkins became starting material. Very difficult for me to make a guess tho, because in the ATL passing game, we didn't really know if it was all Vick, or of the WRs weren't doing their part.

I like the Williams call. This guy looks good everytime I see him play. Very nice dynasty prospect.

As of now, it's my understanding Horn and White are #1 and #2. Jenkins is running the slot. Much like Jenkins, Horn is now a possession-type WR. I think White is the logical choice to stretch the field opposite Horn between the 20's. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if Jenkins is inserted in place of White in the redzone

Atlanta is probably going to suck. But, this passing game is very interesting to me. No More Vick scrambling. This means many more balls are going up. Somebody has to be targeted. I think you are right - White is the guy with the best probability of having tremendous value, particularly at where is is getting drafted these days.

Some positives as far as the Falcons passing game goes, regardless of how you feel about Joey or Vick:

- New OL scheme seems to be more focused on protection

- Petrino seems to be a LOT more willing to throw the ball, expect to see a massive leap in pass attempts

- More 3 and 4-wide formations

- New OC Hue Jackson is the former WR coach for the Bengals

As far as Roddy goes, he has the physical tools, but really struggled with dropped balls last year - when he wasn't writhing on the ground like a snapper.

He finished in the top 20 in drops despite only 7 starts, and significantly less targets.

I'm a lot higher on jenkins and rookie Laurent Robinson - has been impressing in camps and led the team in receptions vs. the Jets.

Aug 17th. BATTLE OF THE WEEK: WRs Laurent Robinson vs. Roddy White. White has had a very, very good training camp and has emerged as the No. 2 wideout in most formations, opposite Joe Horn. Last season's No. 2 wideout, Michael Jenkins, is being utilized more in the slot. As good of a camp as White is having, Robinson, a third-round pick from Illinois State, has really shone. He had five catches in the preseason opener, including a few really tough catches in traffic. Robinson also is a multi-dimensional receiver. Though stretching the field deep is his strength, he's shown to be sturdy enough to deal with crossing routes and make yards after short and mid-range catches. Robinson's inexperience will keep him behind White, for now, but Petrino is going to find ways to showcase Robinson and possible get him more touches.

Definitely time to give Roddy some props. He continued to produce when the team made the shift to Leftwich.

Quietly having a nice year and seems to have turned the corner.

Roddy White has at least 50 yards receiving in 6 straight games so most of the time he'll give you something. He could have had a monster game if he didn't step out of bounds.

Good call. I had my doubts after watching him drop some of the easiest balls last season, but he has stepped up as the go to guy regardless of who's throwing the ball. Now, if I'd only had the cajones to start him over Roy...

I'm now looking for Robinson to supplant Jenkins as #3. Jenkins still has the edge at the moment, but still experiencing too many drops.

There's a strong reason for the better play of Roddy and even the improved play of Michael Jenkins.

His name is Hue Jackson and he was Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh's position coach. Now the Falcons OC and proving he knows how to handle WRs well.

Amen, good point. His influence over this WR squad has gone nearly un-mentioned this season.

With his big game last night, Roddy's year-to-date stats are 52-774-3 (I don't like extrapolating, but it's a 16-game pace of 75-1125-4).

Maybe he's not putting up huge numbers, but still pretty solid and consistent given the lackluster (at best) QB play. Last night was the first entire game I've seen him play, and I have to say I was impressed. He seems to be really coming on as an NFL receiver.

While I agree with you, considering where most people got him(he was probably undrafted in MANY leagues) 75-1125-4 could be considered "great" in context. Not many other WW pickups are going to net you that.

White has been a disappointment. Dropped him for Kolby Smith. Figures he goes over 100 and scores.
I certainly don't see how you can consider White a disappointment. Were you using him as your #1 receiver? I have him as my #4 guy, and there are quite a few weeks when he outproduces my #1, 2, and 3 WRs. Which are Wayne, Edwards, and Burress.

Damn, your team is stacked. Kudos.
