Roddy Whites response to Trent Dilfer by Tweet (1 Viewer)

As a White and Ryan owner playing in the championship game, I'm not sure if this helps my cause or hurts it. Nonetheless, I'll roll with these two and hope that they both have a game similar to Week 10 vs. BAL.
That's a bold move not benching the #1 WR in fantasy football. I mean, he called them the Aints!

http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/wee...atlanta/1734488Well the Falcons still got swept last year by the Saints and before you give me the it wouldnt have happened if Matt would have played remember the Saints beat, Farve, Warner who was on Fire, Payton Manning, Eli Manning and Tom Brady. All Superbowl winning QB's.
Gregg Williams will have something ready.
Is he gonna install turbo boosters to PT/Ivory, teach Bush how to play RB, the O-line how to run block, and erase Hartley's memory of the shank? Because I could've sworn he was just a defensive coordinator.
Well, yeah, actually, judging by what he's done to some pretty damn good HOF QB's in the last 2 years he can compensate for a lot of things.
Well then it's a good thing Ryan isn't a hof qb. Seems the Saints have problems with the Colt McCoy's and Max Halls of the world. Seriously, how do you lose to offenses run by qbs of their ilk? And one of them AT HOME.

Matty Ice is incredible....how many big games has he played in? oh thats right......ZERO......HOW MANY PLAYOFF WINS? ZERO.....Who are the defending Super Bowl champions.....The Saints.....Roddy White needs to get a clue and Matt Ryan needs to get a new nickname because he hasn't done anything in the NFL to earn that name. Its called respect and the Saints deserve some, but don't worry we love the Falcons acting like they have won something.
Man. I hope the Falcons take the Saints out to the woodshed for a good beating.

Not sure what your link proves, but thanks?Anyway, the 19-1 still stands and it wasn't the Saints that beat him. HTH.
It proves that the flaw in your theory is that Matt didnt play the Super bowl winning Saints at home last year or he would be 19-2 at home. It also proves that there were valuable players out for both teams. Not metioned of coarse is Reggie Bush who wouldn't get back until the playoffs in the Arizona game. Matt Ryan is a good QB, dont get me wrong but I hardly think he would have made a difference in the outcome.
ROFL. They lost 26-23. It's not like it was some huge blowout. You don't think Matt Ryan could've helped make up those 3 points? Seriously? It's just funny to me that your homerism makes you think it would've been a foregone conclusion.

Damn, I'm a Falcons fan and know for a fact that I wouldn't have this amount of arrogance in regards to my team if they won the SB this season. You would think this is a marquee NFL franchise in question that Roddy is poking fun at.

No doubt White is a stud. However, his last few weeks have been just OK compared to some others on my bench. I don't dare bench the guy. Just wondering how this will play out.The best part of this is that I'll have two guys going on MNF. Even if I'm down a ton, I'll still have a chance...

Uhm, actually, it doesn't prove anything about the outcome of that game. The only thing is proves is that Matt Ryan didn't play in that game. Logic fail much?

The Saints know Mat Ryan. An unknown QB is hard for a Defense to prepare for in a lot of cases. Didnt Tim Tebow just have a decent game? Ryan is a good QB but he is not elite yet. If the Saints can beat elite QB's I hardly think Matt Ryan keeps them up at night. Matt has not been all that Stellar against the Saints #1 Pass defense. He has been O.k. but not crazy good. Were it not for the Saints missing a Kick they would be lining up for a second year of sweepsville.

Please your fan base is just as arrogant as Roddy White himself and you have won nothing. You are the real Aints until then.Someone needs to tell Roddy White the only thing that the "Saints" and "Aints" have in common these days is that the two words rhyme. The Falcons didnt even acquire back to back winning seasons until recently. Talk about "Aints" would you.

Personally, I think this is a non issue. Kind of stupid to make a comment like that, but pros don't need that kind of stuff to fire them up.

However, I think the Saints are the better team and will prove it on Monday Night.

The "Monday Night Football" showdown between the NFC South rivals Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints has national pundits taking sides, and players taking offense, already.

ESPN TV analyst Trent Dilfer said in a report by ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas that the Saints not only could beat the Falcons on Monday night but could come back in the playoffs and beat them again - at the Georgia Dome.

Falcons receiver Roddy White took to his verified Twitter account, @roddywhiteTV, to write, "No chance in hell the Aints come into the dome and win once trent dilfer."

Saints defensive end Will Smith, @iwillsmith, took exception: "Wondering how @roddywhitetv has the audacity to call us AINTS" with this picture attached.

Offensive lineman Jonathan Goodwin, @jgoody76, followed up with, "Just got even more excited for Monday!"
Sounds like some good locker room materialI respect Roddy White as a player but the man must be off his rocker. Downgrade White and Matt Ryan, Heck down grade all Falcons.
Phew.Dumb.

Some coaches must want to rip the blackberries right out the players' hands sometimes.

Someone should remind White that those Saints are 7-2 vs the Falcons in the last 9, and they are purely lucky it's not 8-1.
1-0 wit these teams. :lmao: and u gotta come to tha durty... Bring Your  's, you're gonna need em. especially with no running game...
Did you watch the game? Saints gift wrapped it for the Falcons. The Saints are going to run just fine this game. Bump me if I'm wrong but I expect a heaping Dose of all 3 backs this game. Ivory, PT and Bush. The Saints are not going to lose two in a row. They were a lock before Roddy ever opened his big mouth.
I heard Ivory was out/DOU to play.

Ofcoarse you would. You live in Atlanta after all why would it be any different? And in typical Atlanta fashion I couldnt help but notice that you follow closely a different team. Again, not surprising. Atlanta youve got to love it.Evidence is what your after huh?

"Brees has led the Saints to victories in their last four Monday games, completing 75.8 percent of his passes for 1,256 yards with 13 touchdowns and one interception for a quarterback rating of 141.5."

and regarding your question about Ivory.. While not being a lock is probably not going to miss this game. He was close to playing against the Ravens (Too bad, Saints could have used him because PT is clearly not 100%)

 What's the big deal here? Saints had a lucky year last year. Falcons beat the Saints AT the Saints earlier this year. Falcons should romp in their own place. This could be over by halftime.

Saints will always be the Aints to rivals. Just like Cowboys will always be the Cowgirls. The Falcons will always be the dirty birds. The Browns will always be the Brown paper bags. The Bengals will be the Bungles. So on and so forth. As a fan, I enjoy the banter between players, emotion IS a good thing.

Believe it.
By the way, pay close attention to that home crowd when you are watching MNF. I bet 40%-50% will be Saints fans. As for last year and your rod and reel tactic , Where exactly are these other teams that were in the playoffs last year that were lucky to get beat by the Saints?, Where are they this year? They sure followed up and showed that they were legit last year. fact is the only 2009 team that will make the playoffs this year that has a record as good as the Saints is the Eagles. Fish on dude.

Some serious stubbornness and homer-ness, especially by the OP. It should be a great game. I doubt that because Roddy White is pumped up, he is a downgrade. He can raise above any match up. I see his desire and motivation as only good. He'll probably have a big game. The real concern is which mis match works out better. After getting shredded by Ray Rice, teams are starting to realize the Saints weakness vs the run. The Falcons will try to control the clock and pound it with turner, mixing in passes to white, gonzo, etc. The saints plan is the opposite. The falcons pass D is bad, and obviously the saints strength is their passing game. They will be passing more, mixing in some runs to try to keep some balance as well. should be a great game, however it breaks down.
Ha Ha good thing I got my objective post in above this or you would have really made me look stupid
it's funny that you need to delineate which post you were being objective on.

Just because I talk a little smack myself in this thread doesnt mean I cant pay some compliments to Atlanta. Either way though my money is on the Saints making Roddy White's remarks look foolish

truly the more 'fireupable' volley if used right (and with my faith in Mike Smith I believe it would be) would be to blow up the image of the 'saints' superbowl ring and put it up in the lockerroom. Would both piss em off and get em hungry without resorting to "they called us the Aints!"

The Saints fanbase was hard to stomach last year with their arrogance, and obviously that hasn't changed. I'm not sure why you are picking on the Falcons for their recent acquisition of back to back winning seasons. The Falcons have been to the playoffs 10 times in their existence. Four times in the 2000's. They went to the Super Bowl in 1999. The Saints have been to the playoffs 7 times in their existence. Three times in the 2000's with a Super Bowl win. While the Saints have a SB win and the Falcons have a SB loss, the Falcons overall have been to the playoffs more times than the Saints, and that includes during the 2000's. The two teams have only one year apart from when they both became a franchise (1966, 1967).

 Atlanta the refuge for the frozen yankee...

born/schooled in MI. Move to Atlanta for law school.

Would proudly wear my Lions gear in the Dome if we ever played in a playoff game, but save that I do root for Atlanta.

That said taking the 12-2 team at Home on MNF to win isn't really going out on a limb. If this was one of those ESPN 50 states poll it would be 48 states predicting a Falcons win and LA/ARK going for the Taints. Oh yessss heeee diiiiiiiid.

How can you win a Superbowl playing for the Saints and be so hypersensitive to the term "Aints"?

Looks like Roddy knew what button to push

I'm not downgrading the #1 fantasy WR because he used a harmless nickname. What, were the Saints going to ignore him before the statement, but "NOW they gonna cover him!"?

Just another bullet fired in the long bloody rivalry that is........Saints/Falcons. :lmao:

Well I didnt realize the number of times you were eliminated from the playoffs was a sign of success. The Panthers must feel right proud as well. :blackdot:Do us a favor Carolina and dont suck in week 16. Maybe Atlanta can lose 2 back to back eh?

Why worry about Carolina? If the Saints lose this week and Tampa wins, they need to beat Tampa or else the yahoo scenario thing says TB will own the tiebreaker on NO. Or is it Saints fan position they are a Car week 17 win away from the division and not endanger of missing the playoffs?

I just thought it would be really cool to end the season with the same record as Atlanta. No one is concerned about Tampa Bay. They have yet to beat a legit team and got blown out 31-6 in their house by the Saints earlier this year.

I wish Roddy wouldn't do that, and that's about all I'll say about that. He's starting to go a little too OchoCinco for my tastes. Just coming to, once again, debunk the "lucky" win theory. All saints fans remember is the missed field goal (which, BTW, isn't luck, it's poor execution). None of them will remember the real luck play, the punt that somehow found the back of DeCoud's foot, inches before he steps out of bounds and lands right into the waiting hands of a Saint, leaving them a short field that set up a score. Without that, you don't even make it to overtime so, PLEASE, stop with the lucky talk. You were lucky you were in it. You lost, learn to deal with it.

Having said that, I agree with Dilfer. We're not invincible at home, no one is, and the Saints are perfectly capable of beating us if we don't play our best game, wherever we play. Their play has picked up as of late, so we will have our hands full, so I do wish Roddy would find a new past time.

Like I say, Atlanta has had more than its share of luck this season and not in just the Saints game. But having said that I will draw from my earlier post which gave statistics on the Falcons and Saints. The Falcons are a well coached team and are not lucky by accident in most cases. Some luck you can almost control by being in the right place at the right time. It is part of being a good team. Some luck is not able to be harnessed quite so. Hartley? well we have been down this road before with him and quite frankly I hope this is his last season as a Saint. Yes he kicked some clutch kicks in the NFC Championship and the Superbowl but the kid is like what Forest Gump says "A box of Chocolate" , Atlanta was lucky that they got that version of Hartley that day . "And thats all I got to say about that"

good lord, Saints fans are the most arrogant, annoying fanbase of a 10-4 team I've ever seen. Get over yourselves, you lost to ARIZONA and CLEVELAND! But y eah, you're going to waltz right into the Georgia Dome and show us who means business. Give me a freaking break.

Roddy has a good track record for backing up his smack, though. Remember him calling out TO and OchoCinco, basically saying "I'll show them who the best WR is today". 11-201-2 backed it up.

The Panthers have been in existence since 1995, and have been to the playoffs 4 times including one SB which we lost. The Saints have been existence since 1967, and have been to the playoffs 7 times including one SB you won. You have almost 30 years on us, but only 3 more trips to the playoffs. Are you proud of that? Why do you care how we play in week 16? You are the one playing Atlanta that week. Hopefully we will suck in week 16 and 17. That will give us a better chance at the first round pick in the draft.

Well I didnt realize the number of times you were eliminated from the playoffs was a sign of success. The Panthers must feel right proud as well. :thumbup:Do us a favor Carolina and dont suck in week 16. Maybe Atlanta can lose 2 back to back eh?

One thing that you learn when your team does take the next step is that none of the other stuff matters. If it had taken 50 years for the Saints to get a ring I would still be damn proud. There is a different winning culture with the New Orleans Saints now. Whether they repeat as Champions or not this season, I look for them to make the playoffs on a regular basis as long as we are well coached and number 9 is behind the center. Everything else is becoming a distant memory. Maybe once you guys fire Fox you can start down the path again to being a legit NFL team. I wouldn't doubt one day you guys might just put it together.

Fox will probably be fired after this season, but he did take Carolina to the Super Bowl and to the playoffs three times. Payton has taken the Saints to the playoffs twice w/a Super Bowl included in that. You speak like Carolina, and Atlanta for that matter, are so beneath the Saints and have had no success at all. All of the NFC South has been to the Super Bowl, and two of the teams have won it. If there is one thing you haven't learned it's how to handle success. The smug attitude and arrogance is a turn off, but you had that arrogance last year before the Saints made it to the Super Bowl. Maybe it's a maturity thing, and once you get older you will become a better winner.

It took 95 posts in this thread, but I've finally come to the conclusion that this thread is nothing more than a poorly disguised "The Falcons suck because I'm a Saints fan. And the Saints are awesome because I'm a Saints fan."

I guess those not playing in Super Bowls this week have nothing better to do....

ETA: I forgot the part of the thread where Saints fans get another opportunity to beat their chests about the Saints SB win.

I am Confident! I root for a Superbowl team that is defending its Championship title with a 10-4 record thus far. I thought Champions tanked the following season? And Mr. Rick James needs to ad that to his post because he has not seen many 10-4 teams after winning a superbowl. Maybe its because you dont want to hear my confidence as a fan that you liken me as arrogant but never the less, this thread is about someone more arrogant than I. Mr. Roddy White and if you dont like Saints fan chest beating I suggest we not take the thread in that direction and get back on topic.

You lost, learn to deal with it.Having said that, I agree with Dilfer. We're not invincible at home, no one is, and the Saints are perfectly capable of beating us if we don't play our best game, wherever we play. Their play has picked up as of late, so we will have our hands full, so I do wish Roddy would find a new past time.
I wouldn't be worried about anything. I can't think of a single aspect of either team that gives the Saints an advantage. There is going to be alot of blood on the turf in Atlanta, just like every other home game in recent memory.

I also root for the Patriots. Should we go there :)And as someone already pointed out.....you are a loss this week and a loss next week to TB away from missing the playoffs. 10-4 doesn't have it locked up.

Patriots get my respect for sure except for the whole spy gate thing. But aside from that they are what the Saints model themselves after.
