Rodgers vs. CHI (1 Viewer)

So after getting burned last week with Rodgers against MIN, which should have been a "neutral" type of matchup, what do you expect from him this week against CHI? This *should* be another neutral-ish matchup, right? Most projections I've seen have him getting 200-ish yards and at least 1 TD, which would be a nice total compared to last week.

Am I alone in questioning Rodgers lately? Who are you (or not) starting over him this week?

PS - let's not make this anything to do with Favre vs. Rodgers, there is a whole 'nother mega-thread about that.

I agree - I am a little worried about starting him (probably since I got burned last week). Seems like a no brainer going against Chicago, however right now I have Manning in as my starter.

They both have good match-ups this week, so I am hoping I can't go wrong with either option.

I'm a little worried about Rodgers too, but he's in the lineup for now. My other option is Delhomme, who should have a good game but should have had one last week too and didn't.

The trend that's leaning me towards Rodgers right now is that I read somewhere the last 4 QB's to face Chicago have all gone over 289 yards passing.

The only chance that Rodgers does not have at least 200 passing yards and 2TDs is if GB gets ahead due to defensive or special teams TDs and they just pound the ball. Even then he still should have a strong day. Trends don't reverse in a week, and CHI's pass D has been awful.

Weather looking okay, too...

275, 2.5 TDs, 1.2 INTs. Decent chance at a QB sneak TD as well.

The way to beat the Bears is by the air.

Even Orlovsky lit the Bears pass D up several weeks ago.

I would start Rodgers, I think they will have to execute the passing game to win.

I think people have been too hard on Rodgers this week. People aren't giving the Vikings' defense enough credit. They are really good - especially at home. Rodgers should have a HUGE week against a weak Bears' passing defense. They won't be able to run on the Bears, so it will be all passing.

 The Viking D-line finally lived up to all the hype. Last week was one of the most relentless pass rushes I have seen, no QB could have performed in that situation.

Key to how good day Rodgers has is if the O-line can give him sometime to read the defense and the WR to run their routes. Last week was more of the Choke Vikes dominating the game than anything.

Rodgers is a backup for me in my total points league, behind Brees.

I expect Rodgers to have 250+ and a couple of TDs against the Bears' bad passing defense.

My other option is Big Ben and I think he'll have a huge game also, so it's a tough call for QB this week. Right now I'm on the fence on who to go with.

I've got Thigpen going against N.O. Which should be a high scoring event. Thigpen has been number one over the last three weeks. I feel confertable starting Rodgers though. Rodgers has had 2 huge weeks against top ten defences and 2 huge weeks against wek defences. Chicago is ranked 30th against the pass. i expect 240 plus yards, 2 tds and a INT. Hopefully Thigpen can play lights out again this week against a mcgensie-less Saints squad.

I doubt the Bears get a solid pash rush going against the Pack and Rodgers' numbers will be back. Should be a worthy start.

Right, this is my concern. Why wouldn't CHI look at the game tape from last week and copy what MIN did? They showed that consistent pressure on Rodgers is enough to force him into bad decisions.

The MIN pass rush was so strong last week that it completely eliminated the Packers' passing offense from the game, before Rodgers even had the time to make bad decisions. MIN's d-line completely dominated the Packers' o-line. The Bears have a strong D, but I don't think they're capable of the pass rush the Vikings generated last week. I expect a much better game this week from Rodgers as have him plugged into my lineup.

While some have been hard on him. Some of it is deserved...he held the ball too long at times...at others he had no time.As for can't run it against the Bears. people said that the last 2 weeks with the Titans and Vikings too, yet they ran the ball pretty well against both of them.I don't expect the Bears will try and sell out on the run like they did last week.

I've talked to a few people in Wisconsin today and the word is that it's COLD. We're about 3hrs south of GB too, so expect Lambeau to be pretty chilly. In my experience, this usually leads to turn overs.

We already know the Bears will be trying to take advantage of GBs poor run D, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Packers run the ball more too.

It should also be interesting to see how A-Rod does in his first chilly day.

Grant, 100+ yards and a TD in the first half.Maybe they will be able to run against the Bears.

who would have thought an inept GB running game would be able to disect the Chicago defense. Still Rodgers has 95 yds and a td at the half....IF Chicago changes the game plan and sells out to stop the run in the second half Rodgers will do well then....still 95 yds and a td isnt horrible ( unlike Lovie Smith's end of tha half coaching decisions )

I ended up starting Ryan over Rodgers in one league, and staying with Rodgers in my other league (no other choice). Looking ok so far for both of them.

Shocking to me! Didn't think they would be able to do it. Kudos to their o-line. They are good!

:towelwave: :towelwave: :towelwave: :wall: This is why QBBC never works. I always start the wrong guy. Last week I should've started Ryan. This week I should've started Rodgers. According to the matchups I did it right! Doesn't help me with less than 10 pts out of my QB the last 2 weeks.
