Rodgers will throw 40+ TDs this year (1 Viewer)

Does he get to play this crappy Saints D every week? The Bears D and the Lions D have created a blue print how to stop the GB O and Rodgers. See the 2nd Lions-Packers game or any of the 3 Bears-Packers games. You have to pressure him with your front 4. Det and CHi has the DL to do that.

This Saints D is a joke.... they got shredded by the Seahawks last year, remember. Also, hopefully this whole nonsense of the NFC South being a better conference compared to NFC North is put to rest. NFC North > NFC South and it is not even close.

I don't think he even breaks 30 total... everyone is going to go 2 deep/shell on the Packers. They won't let Rodgers beat them...

lol....apparently getting excited about a player is a bad thing??

and no its not an alias.. i am new to this board.. and up until this post had really enjoyed everything about this forum...

BTW...whats Rodgers record against the Bears?Seems he did fine against a pretty damn good defense in the Super Bowl too.Its ok, you can admit that Rodgers is good.

Since we're playing fantasy football, check his stats against the Bears. Let's just say he's hardly putting up 40 TDs if he had to play that defense on a regular basis.

True...mostly Chicago where he has struggled...same way Cutler can't seem to do it against Capers' D right now...it was more a dig at sweetness' trolling. Part of it is the familiarity with those two teams. That and any "blueprint" comments always make me laugh too.

Saints had the fourth best pass D in football last season, at least statistically. And the second Lions/Packers game? C'mon ... Rodgers went out early. The Bears do play them very well, but lets see them against Chicago with Finley healthy, Starks/Grant in the backfield and Cobb playing with the top WRs. The Saints would have looked much better against GB 2010 than GB 2011 as well, so you can't just presume the Bears "have their number." The Packers are just loaded this season. James Jones is Rodgers' sixth best receiving option, behind Finley/Jennings, Driver, Nelson and Cobb. That's just sick. We'll see on North > South this weekend. Atlanta and Chicago play; so does Detroit and Tampa.

Bust.

On pace for 192 TDs after the first quarter, all the way down to a 48 TD pace by the end of the game.

Rodgers puts up all his stats in the first half of games..then McCarthy puts the reigns on and screeches everything to a hault in the 2nd half when they have leads. Making A Rod not worth his ADP.

Yeah...not worth it for a guy who put up over 300 yards and 3TDs...and was the #1 in a lot of leagues last year for a QB.

A-Rod has been over-hyped in Baseball for a number of years now. For a while he was a slam-dunk first round pick, but injuries and age have caught up with him. I think that he is only the 2nd or 3rd best INFIELDER on his team now, let alone the outfielders/catchers, etc...What this has to do with fantasy football I have no idea.

Rodgers has looked like a surgeon on the field for the last two years. Nothing new here.

I took him in my auction and am happy to have him. The two concerns I do have are that this GB team is very good defensively. They will throw to get the early lead but b/c the D is so good they may be running the ball to kill the clock and protect leads in 2nd halves. The other concern is once the cold weather hits, his numbers may take a small hit.

Both of these things are less of a concern with guys like Rivers, Brees, or even Romo. I'm happy with Rodgers and feel he will be worth what I paid for him but the two factors I mentioned will likely prevent him from putting up "historic" numbers that he is clearly capable of.

So if he spread out the 300+ yards and 3 TDs a little more it would make for a better fantasy start?

Rodgers likely wont have any games better than this one he just had this year. Their schedule is too easy and they will grind out 2nd halves of games the McCarthy way. 3 TD's and 325 yards is his ceiling for fantasy performances this season. Maybe he has 1 performance better than that. Still very good, but not worth a first round pick...

So if he throws for 250, 2-3 TDs and runs for another that won't be better.Calling 325 and 3 his ceiling is pretty funny...he is definitely capable of doing that again. Also, McCarthy should learn from last night to not step off the gas til later in the game and go for the throat.

Plus he was 1 yd. short of another passing TD when Jordy got stopped. 325 and 3 is great, but I'd guess he'll exceed that a couple of times this year.

300/3 or better last year

301/4 Minnesota

298/3 San Fran

404/4 NYG

366/3 ATL playoffs (had a rushing TD too)

304/3 PIT Super Bowl

Other strong games

344/1 and a rushing TD against ATL in the regular season

313/1 and a rushing TD against MIA

316/1 and a rushing TD against CHI

255/2 and a rushing TD against BUF

7 out of 14 full games that he played were close to, or better than this "ceiling" of last night's numbers.

:goodposting: In fact only comment worth reading. It would be interesting to see what Aaron Rodgers would do on a team with a terrible defense.Rodgers also seemed to be less reckless when the opportunity to scramble came. This is great for dynasty owners, but also limits his ability to have a historic season.

I noticed that as well. The rushing ability is what, in my mind, separated Rodgers and Vick from the rest of the elite QB pack. But Rodgers appeared much less incline to take off last night. Maybe it was just the way it played out last night or maybe it's the concussions from last year, but as long as he remains healthy all year, I'll take it.

Fairly easy with the new rules! On track for 12 tonight.
What does this even mean?
The OP basically said Rodgers was a lock for 40 TDs this year which got this poorly informed response before the OP edited his first post for whatever reason.

Those stats pretty much prove out my point... Rodgers is very good and consistently puts up nice points... but he's not going to breakout and have 4 td monster games very often.

You think this is Rodgers best game? Put your money where your mouth is.

You said 325 and 3 was his ceiling. And that he was not likely to have more games equal to it.I point out 7 of 14 games last year...9 of 17 when the playoffs are into consideration that were about the same if not better than last night's numbers. And last year was without a strong running game to help open more up, and without Finley and now Cobb.

How many reg season games were BETTER than 325/3? Two? We'll see how it goes. I've owned Rodgers in a keeper for 3 years and I have felt like GB leaves points on the field/takes their foot off the gas early in the 2nd half of games where they feel they are in control. I feel like Rodgers is capable of having an all time great type statistical kind of year, but its not possible with McCarthy's 2nd half coaching philosophy.

The 255/2 and a rushing was likely right with the 325 and 3 games as well. I agree they take their foot off the gas often...but Im guessing McCarthy will put the foot down a bit more in the future after last night again.

None of these teams so far today look like competition for the Saints or Packers.

Steelers seen to be suffering from Super Bowl loser bad luck syndrome(if there is a syndrome).

Chicago looked very good...though, their line is still swiss cheese and Cutler still will throw bad passes. But their defense was incredibly good.Detroit looked good for much of that game, but let Tampa back in it late.Balt looked good too.I would not go declaring anything like that first statement yet.
