Upshaw will fight it because his agent Tom Condon will tell him to fight it.Not because its good for the players, but its good for Condon and the other super agents to get huge fees each year from inflated rookie contracts. Under a rookie pay scale, more money goes to the vets - who are represented by the bulk of the agents However, the top rookies are typically represented by a very few super agents - who lose out a disproportionate amount of the fees.I'm not sure how hard the Player's union will fight this would be a lot more money to give player's already in the union at the expense of players not in the union...makes too much sense - NBA is a perfect example - established players - especially mid range are getting more money now that rooks are capped. Even if it is only a 3-4 ty cap on the contract it gives the teams enough to get a look to see if th player is a bust or not...I think a rookie cap would be fought HARD by the Players association. That said, it's a good idea. Don't care much about the Pro Bowl - losing the top few teams worth of players won't kill it for me as my interest is as low as it can be now.10 minute per pick is a good move, IMO.
