Romo backup plan (1 Viewer)

With Romo questionable right now (more of a probable) but some tough matchups (Wsh, Det, BYE, @NE) and the bye week coming, who do you think is the best to plug in. Should Romo owners be trading for likes of:

Josh Freeman (Atl, Ind, SF, NO)

Kevin Kolb (Sea, NYG, Min, BYE)

or even

Mark Sanchez (Oak, Bal, NE, Mia)

Donovan McNabb (Det, KC, Ari, Chi)

or digging deeper on waivers for

Matt Hasselbeck (Den, Cle, Pit, BYE)

Kerry Collins (Pit, TB, KC, Cin)

Of course trying to get Cam Newton (Jac, Chi, NO, Atl) would be ideal, but I tyhink the price would be too high.

Popular Pickups such as Ryan Fitzpatrick (NE, Cin, Phi, NYG) and Jason Campell (NYJ, NE, Hou, Cle) don't have the best matchups.

The upcoming Bye week is the most important to cover, but the Cowboys matchups aren't going to be easy either.

I'd say just pick up Kitna, last year when Romo was out, Kitna was just as effective as Romo while he was out.

Last season with a 20 yds/pt and 4pt TD scoring, Romo/Kitna combined would have ended up 7th among all QBs (Rodgers, Manning, Vick, Brady, Rivers, Brees, (Romo/Kitna), Schaub, Freeman, Ryan).

I think that Romo is a probable start, and the player you wanna grab should be for the BYE week filler as well.
if only there was a place for these type questions
I think this can generate an interesting discussion. A tough schedule coming up, and multiple injuries. The other QB's I listed were based on average availability and not their status in my personal league.

Have Cutler as a backup but not loving the GB matchup given the Bears O-line troubles I decided to take the "Easy" way around the early week speculation. I grabbed Grossman off waivers. Should Romo be good to go, fine, otherwise Sexy will take the job.

Due to the Monday night matchup you should pick up either Grossman or Kitna just in case Romo has a late setback. Pick your bye week replacement next week or in addition to one of the qbs playing Monday night.

Kitna is likely to be your best option assuming the wr's are healthy. The Cowboy's barely skipped a beat with Kitna in the lineup last season.

When he had a full week of first team reps. And he had a couple healthy WRs. Bit different this week, eh?He's capable, but if I had to gamble with Monday night GTD, I'd be inclined to roll with Grossman.

Kitna here.

For some reason the other 11 teams in my league have a total of 28 QB's rostered in my start-1 league. Leaves slim pickings on the WW

I'm probably going to pick up Hasselbeck. I was going to pick up Grossman, but they share the same bye week (wk5) so I would need to pick up another QB for that week.

I have Kitna too, but I can't risk having to use him without all of the weapons available. I'm starting Fitzpatrick to avoid the Romo/Kitna/MNF headache.

I picked up Fitzpatrick. Surprisingly he was still available and I risked not putting a waiver out on him. Picked him up as a free agent today. I guess everyone was satisfied with their quarterback situation.

I think I start him no matter what I hear about Romo with injured receivers and the odd chance he takes a hard hit and has to be taken out of the game.

Romo owner here ---> I'm going to roll with Kyle Orton most likely this week. Will grab Kitna in case I change my mind.

Actually I changed my mind. I picked up Grossman because of both playing on Monday night. I'll take care of the bye week coverage next week.

I picked up Kitna, but something tells me Romo is going to try to play Monday.

My question is, what happens if score or pain tolerance dictates that Romo leave the game?

Part of me just wants to start Sanchez this week so I know I get a QB who will play 4 quarters.

That's what I'm doing. I had the option of grabbing Grossman or Kitna, but I think that either guy is similar in production with Sanchez. My biggest fear is that Romo will give it a shot and will be pulled..and then the point hit would be huge. I'll take my chances with an average Sanchez (with a pretty good matchup) over the Romo risk this week. There is always the chance he puts up one of those huge injury games that players love to have though.

Doing the exact same thing except starting Freeman instead of Romo....of course his matchup is a nice one anyways, so it makes the decision easier for me.
