Romo's prospects this week? (1 Viewer)

one good pop in the first quarter and he's out of the game. i'm a cowboys homer and would've rather lost to the skins than risk further damage. the o-line will get better but against the lions agressive defensive front, it could be ugly. fantasy/skill position wise, i would look elsewhere this week unless you have witten and maybe dez. not to mention our receivers having to be coached on where to line up after breaking the huddle monday night. a week more of practice should help those guys but its still a sticky situation, imo./having said all that, he'll probably throw for 300 yds and a pair of TDs.
I hear you.

Jason Campbell will be taking 1st team snaps in MOP's practices this week, Romo will be a game time decision.
We park our cars in the same garage on this one ... but now Campbell listed as questionable with a bum foot? Nice matchup next week vs. Cleveland for Campbell as well (Romo's bye week)... might have to get Romo back on first team snaps, MOP ...
What are you talking about? Campbell plays @ HOU during Romo's bye.
Do the numbers that Romo and Campbell but up agianst the Jets respectively not bother you? I would pump the breaks with Campbell, he put up numbers against Buffalo and Denver, just like everyone else (with the exception of Matt Cassel, who is part of the reason that Det is #1 against the pass). Romo isn't going to Wow anyone on sunday, but his numbers aren't going to be a repeat of last week. He will be in the top ten, Campbell may be in the top 20.
You say this "I would pump the breaks with Campbell, he put up numbers against Buffalo and Denver, just like everyone else ". well, everyone has put up even better numbers on N.E. SO ?
Week 1 against Miami was pure insanity. Then, Fitz and Rivers put up numbers that we should expect from them against any mid-range defenses. I'm not saying Campbell will bomb, but I am saying he doesn't belong in the same tier as Romo. Furthermore, Raiders will probably be using a run heavy attack, using the deep threat to keep New England honest. So you will be gambling on a few long passes from a lower level talent at QB. Romo is a gamble as well, but I would go with the better talent. Campbell's above average is still worse than Romo's below average.

Agree with this. With that said, I'm benching Romo this week for Fitz.

I've started Stafford every week so far. prolly start him this week.

Few thoughts:

Romo's gutsy play can spread to teammates.

Garrett/Houck will tighten up the O-line, hopefully.

The 'Boys D is playing very good. They are getting to the QB, and creating turnovers.

The redzone playcalling, execution, and time management has been suspect.

Romo is beat up, and the Cowboys are beat up in general.

With all things considered, I'd start other options with better matchups. I'd expect mediocre stats, BUT, dont be surprised if Romo has a big game. It's very possible.

As the week goes on and the more I read about how Romo has no chance to do well against Suh and the Lions, the more I want to start him. Not because I want to prove anyone wrong, but because when it looks like a sure thing in the NFL the opposite happens more often than not.

Dallas is favored by 2 points. This is non-sensical to me. Way too many bad matchups against Dallas. Also, Dallas has played 7 straight games that have been decided by 3 points or less. Take the points and run on this one.

After today's news that Bryant is missing practice again, I'm starting to reconsider my decision to play him over Mark Sanchez. Sanchez has a bad matchup against the Ravens, but an injured Tony Romo with Kevin Ogletree, Jermaine Holley, and Laurent Robinson sure doesn't look very good to me.

I think I'll wait to see if Bryant is playing on Sunday, and then make a last minute decision.

Anyone with insight into Dallas' O-line problems? Is this a year-long thing or is there any help on the way?

I imagine if most knew the situation was still this dire, he might not have been drafted as high as he probably was.
Excellent point. I think we were sucked in by the prospects of Austin, Bryant and Witten and didn't really consider the o-line except that they had drafted Tyron Smith at 1.09.

I'll counter by saying look at the Cowboys' schedule. There are some tasty matchups after the bye. Everyone knew the line was in transition and would take time to gel. Nothing really changed there. The Lions probably have the toughest front the Boys will face with only the Giants, late in the season, coming close.

That line looked acceptable against the Jets when Miles and Dez were both healthy. Having guys who know where they're supposed to be and guys who will go get the football if its thrown up makes a huge difference and covers for a weak OL. But when you combine a struggling OL with untrusted receivers, its not a good combination.

Romo got hit a ton vs WASH and came out just fine. His poor stats were due to horid WR performance (the OL crappiness goes w/o saying). With another week of Romo healing, OL/WR coaching and group hugs, he'll put up top 10 stats this sunday in a probable shootout. Starting him over Newton and Kolb.
Ur Welcome :boxing: :boxing:

Detroit has faced the following QBs thus far:Josh FreemanMatt CasselDonovan McNabbGee, wonder why they're ranked so high vs. the pass.....
Excellent point.
Like I said....what QBs have Detroit faced before Romo? lmao
They gave up points but sure did make up for it in TD's.Romo road my bench but still did pretty well, sans int's. After the bye I think he'll be in there every week for me.
