Ronnie Brown Ankle Injury (1 Viewer)

anyone think LJ will sign with the Dolphins if Ronnie's injury is serious?I wouldn't put it past Parcells.
I don't think LJ is a good fit in that offense. He can't run the wildcat and he is the kind of guy who needs the rock 20 plus times to be really effective.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that the Dolphins are "worried" about a foot injury that Ronnie Brown suffered in Sunday's win over Tampa.Glazer's report indicates that Brown has two injuries -- one to his ankle and one to his foot. He definitely won't play Thursday at Carolina, but his status beyond that is completely up in the air. A mid-foot sprain could cost Brown several games. Ricky Williams is suddenly an every-week RB2 in fantasy.

aaargh

The Dolphins have issued an unofficial injury report Monday for Thursday's game at Carolina, and RB Ronnie Brown was listed as did not participate with a foot injury. He is considered questionable for the game against the Panthers after leaving Sunday's game with an apparent ankle injury, but now it appears to be an issue with his foot. "The only thing I can tell you about Ronnie right now is that we're still in the middle of gathering information and we probably won't know more until a little later on this evening or first thing tomorrow," coach Tony Sparano said. Brown was on crutches Monday. He was wearing his sneakers and not a protective boot. Brown is not expected to practice Tuesday, either.

Ronnie owner here who was happy by the initial XRay and hoped Brown might only miss one game. But this foot thing has me scared. Trying to decide if I should try to trade for Ricky or trade for a guy like Charles. I have a plethora of good backups but no Ricky. Jonathan Stewart, Bradshaw, Donald Brown, and Michael Bush.

Ronnie and Ricky owner here who has played them both (along with Ray Rice) for many weeks. So on Saturday, the day of our trade deadline, I trade Ricky, along with Jennings and Tony G, for Cedric Benson and Calvin Johnson. With my open roster slot, I pick up Bernard Scott. Sunday---Brown gets hurt (I no longer have Ricky), Benson gets hurt, and then today the Bengals sign LJ--so I probably don't even have the right back-up anymore. Here's to hoping Ronnie is back soon.

jonathan "two touchdowns" stewart isn't enough to eek by the next couple of weeks?

Yeah, I know. Stewart isn't a bad filler if it is only a couple of weeks. But if it is a season ending injury I am not crazy about Stewart as my RB2 to finish the final leg of the season and then the fantasy playoffs. He isn't consistent because of the time share and being the second guy.

Rotoworld...

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano has ruled Ronnie Brown (foot) out for Thursday's game against the Panthers.

Brown went to see a foot specialist Wednesday, with the Dolphins showing serious concern over the injury. Ricky Williams will start against Carolina, and he brings RB1 value against a defense that was shredded by Michael Turner and Jason Snelling last week. Lex Hilliard will be active as Williams' backup.

Any inside info would be gold right now. Anyone?

Despite Tony Sparano's vagueness, it doesn't appear that Miami Dolphins tailback Ronnie Brown will be healthy enough to play in Thursday night's game against the Panthers.

Not only can Brown not walk without the assistance of crutches, but his foot problem is a bit more serious than the medical staff initially thought. He's presently battling soreness in his right foot, which was initially diagnosed as a ankle sprain.

There is a possibility Brown will be sent to see a specialist within the next two days because the injury could sideline him for more than Thursday night's game against Carolina.

Its a stinker. Good news for Williams owners though.
Not really. Without Brown I think Ricky is totally ineffective.
 Yeah, sure he is.
You and the guy who rolled eyes at me a few posts above think Ricky Williams can run the wildcat? And if not, think that Henne can lead the team and put up stats in a conventional formation?I think with Ricky getting the full load his stats go down. The team loses a dimension without Ronnie.Instead of eye rolling tell me why I'm wrong.
He had 9 carries for 53 yards in one quarter of play after Ronnie left the game
:bag:

wondering what kind of foot injury this would be? X ray would have shown a fracture (though sometimes hairline fractures are hard to detect, but I imagine they blew that sucker up 6 ways to sunday)

DAVIE — Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown, who hurt his right foot Sunday against Tampa Bay, will not play Thursday night at Carolina, the team said today.

The team did not disclose the exact nature of the injury but said Brown will see a foot specialist for further evaluation.

Veteran Ricky Williams will take over as the No. 1 back for the match-up of two 4-5 teams at 8:20 p.m. Thursday (NFL Network).

Brown said Monday night on WQAM-560 that X-rays showed no break. But Brown said he had soreness and swelling caused when someone stepped on his foot.

Coach Tony Sparano had said Monday that if Brown could not play, there would be no concern about shifting the burden to Williams, who has split carries with Brown this season.

Sparano said Williams could handle the direct snaps in the Wildcat formation, a role usually held by Brown.

Sparano said rookie Lex Hilliard also would have to be "ready to carry the ball," as would fullback Lousaka Polite.

Note: This story originally said Thursday's game would be seen on WPEC-12. It will be shown only on NFL Network.

He rolled his ankle pretty severely - I rolled mine enough that my tibia made contact with a bone in my foot and resulted in a bone contusion in my foot. Misdiagnosed as a sprain until an MRI showed the contusion. Wouldn't be surprised if Brown suffered something similar.

Ronnie Brown could be out for the year

Posted by Mike Florio on November 18, 2009 5:54 AM ET

The Dolphins publicly have acknowledged that running back Ronnie Brown will miss Thursday night's game against the Panthers due to a foot injury suffered on Sunday against the Buccaneers.

The Dolphins have not publicly acknowledged that the team fears Brown will miss the remainder of the season.

Per a league source, the current thinking is that Brown will not be able to play again this year. Of course, this could change based upon the advice of the specialist that Brown eventually sees and the success of rehab efforts.

The challenge for the Dolphins will be to decide whether to carry Brown on the roster in the hopes he can return, or to send him to injured reserve and create a roster spot.

Some Fins fans might be wondering why the Dolphins didn't make a run at running back Larry Johnson, due to Brown's injury. The fact that Miami V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells is the father-in-law of Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli answers that question fairly conclusively.

Looks and smells like dreaded "Lis Franc" foot injury. Frequently takes a little time to diagnose. Occurs when the foot in question is planted and twisted. Brown immediately grabs that area of his foot.

Hope I'm wrong, but these can be career threatening.

Hope it's not the dreaded Lis Franc. Nothing yet has come out - all I've heard is that he's going to get a 2nd opinion.

I thought he grabbed his ankle when he went down.

The biggest thing seems to be that he's still on crutches. Lis Franc or not, it sure doesn't sound like a one week injury.

Is there anything in this that is not speculative? Extremely speculative?

Yeah, the part where the league source is hearing that Brown might not play this year.

Kevin Jones had it a couple years ago. It is a bad injury if you have it.

oof just traded jennings for ronnie.
that's alright, last Saturday, I traded Ricky (keeping Ronnie) as part of a larger deal for Cedric Benson. Only thing that saved me was picking up Bernard Scott last week, when I had the open roster spot. But if Ced is hurt bad and/or LJ muscles in, then I am totally hosed.

Right, this is all just speculation. As opposed to everything else that gets discussed in the Shark Pool, which we all know is soundly grounded in pure fact.

I feel like I've read this same post three or four times in various threads. We got it.

Damnit ...all I have is speculation and its not very good speculation at that!! I am dying over here partly as a RB owner but more so for the man himself... I love his talent and ability and he is a lot of fun to watch because RB IS the Wildcat in the NFL - accept no imitations! I am hoping he is back in a few weeks at this point which I originally thought was worst case but now it seems more like best case. I have to come back in off the ledge now...

Brown owner here in 10 team re-draft (I know, but it's a work league) and I cut him yesterday. With a limited roster, subpar options at that position on my roster and in the hunt but nothing locked up as playoffs go, I had to jump on Forsett and Snelling now so that I have a chance to make the playoffs. If he's out for 3 weeks or more I definitely don't make the playoffs. That said, I think Williams becomes a top 5 back for the rest of the season. If your tradeline hasn't passed go grab him now!

Ronnie Brown-RB-Dolphins Nov. 18 - 1:56 pm et

A league source told the Palm Beach Post Tuesday night that Ronnie Brown (foot, ankle) is "done for the season."

Another source said "no one is sure," but the first source appears to be in agreement with Profootballtalk.com's early-Wednesday report. Brown's status may be determined by a specialist during his Wednesday checkup. According to the Post, "word" in the Dolphins' locker room is that Brown definitely won't play in Weeks 11 and 12. There's been no talk of Brown going on I.R. yet.

If true, sure glad I went RB heavy in my draft. Still going to hurt losing him.Hopefully he can recover fully by next year and its nothing career threatening.

Agreed that it's all speculation, but this hush-hush situation seems to point to something much more serious than a week or two thing.

The team has already ruled him out for Thursday, so it's not like there is a lot of subterfuge necessary to confound the Panthers' game planning.

Palm Beach Post Blog: The Daily Dolphin

Pro Bowl running back Ronnie Brown’s season might be determined by what he hears today when a specialist examines his injured right foot. The only certainty is that he will miss Thursday night’s game at Carolina.

Word in the Dolphins’ locker room is that Brown will be out for at least this game and the Nov. 29 game at Buffalo.

Meanwhile, a league source said Tuesday night that Brown is done for the season. Another source said no one is sure. And Brown’s examination might not yield a definitive answer.

No matter what happens, don’t expect any specifics from the Dolphins unless Brown is declared out for the season by doctors. The Dolphins wouldn’t want to reveal anything that would give opponents “a competitive advantage,” as they like to put it.

For what it's worth.......CBS

News: Ronnie Brown's season is over for the Miami Dolphins. Miami's leading rusher was placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of what is believed to be a Lisfranc fracture in his right foot, according to the Miami Herald. It's his second season-ending injury in three years. Brown will visit a specialist in Charlotte and is with his teammates as they head there to take on the Panthers in Week 11. According to one of the Herald's sources, Brown's injury is "not anything major as far as career or long term." Brown rushed for 648 yards, caught for 98 yards and passed for 22 yards with nine total touchdowns (one passing) in 2009.

Yep, this was all just speculation.
At the time...it was. Why the attitude?
I could have asked the same question earlier in this thread. People speculate ALL the time on this site, based on whatever info they have at the time. There were some strong signs that all was not well with Ronnie Brown. People made very reasonable conclusions based on that info.....which you (and others) brushed aside as "oh, that's just speculation". Great, well let's all just bury our heads in the sand then and pretend. If a R Brown owner was able to deal him before this announcement, for a superior deal, then THAT is exactly why it's helpful to speculate. Obviously it could go the other way too.....but I just find it annoying when people brush aside helpful debate as "oh, that's just speculation".End of rant.
