Ronnie Brown (1 Viewer)

Steel Town

Ronnie Brown has been a huge disappointment thus far, and probably everyone that has made it this far have done so without his services. However, looking at the Dolphin schedule weeks 15 and 16, has me feeling like Brown could come up big for fantasy owners. Home games against the Bills and Lions could be just what the doctor ordered. He was dropped by an owner last week to make room for Westbrook, and I was able to acquire him this week. After losing Gore, I have been scrambling to snag a ww replacement, and am hoping Brown can be that guy.

Anyone agree?

Haven't seen many Dolphin games, but the stats seem to indicate that Ronnie gets more carries. Has something changed recently?

Even if the match-up is favorable, it is pretty risky to start him unless you have injuries or no other options. The crazy thing is that he usually gets hurt, so the line of thinking is usually that he is very productive when he actually plays, but this year he has managed to stay healthy, but hasn't been as productive.

They both get alot of carries but Ricky has been the better back really. BUT for fantasy neither is more then a last ditch desperation play.

I don't know how anyone could say Ronnie or Ricky has been better. They usually do not get enough touches and the coaching staff is the sucko in Miami. Leave him alone.

Oh, Buffalo and Detroit you say? If you start a flex on top of 2RB/3WR perhaps...

i'll probably roll with him now that frank gore is gone and LT has slowed down and has matchups with pitt/chicago those same weeks.

He got 85 yards and a TD against buffalo the first game of the year. 70-80 yards + 1 TD is what I'd expect in week 15/16 games. Pretty much his ceiling this entire season. That's serviceable for a flex. Wouldn't expect over 100 yards or multiple TDs unless Ricky goes down but I don't expect 2-3 points either. He's gotten 5-7 points pretty regularly this year which sucks but it's not a zero or a 2.

You say that like home games are a good thing...You do realize that the Dolphins are 1-5 at home this year, right?

That 85 yards and 1 TD against the Bills was...A) In Buffalo and B) A long time ago, when the Dolphins thought they could go somewhere..You mean 70-80 yards + 1 TD for weeks 15/16 combined, right? I will TAKE IT!!!I am a Dolphins fan, and when Gore went down, my #1 seeded fantasy team took a HUGE hit. With only Ronnie Brown and Toby Gerhart left, I'm ging to be rolling the dice with Ronnie...

I'm starting him this week (bag over head). Hillis makes up for it hopefully. Traded for Ronnie months ago looking at week 15/16 specifically (DET/BUF). Don't underestimate the lure of South Beach in the winter for players on teams like BUF or DET, with nothing to play for. Hopefully they will find some latin destractions. Bet those guys love coming down here instead of the miserable cities they live in.

Pierre, Mathews on bench. Lynch on waivers. PPR mess at it's finest.

A) Why is it better for them to play in Buffalo in the cold and B) here's some recent stats1) In the past 5 weeks, he had a TD against the Ravens and Titans. 2) He's had only 3 games with less than 10 carries all season. 3) His worst rushing games were against Steelers (9 for 14), Tennesee (12 for 11), and Chicago (3 for 10)4) His best rushing games were against Buffalo (13 for 65), Minnesota (13 for 80), Green Bay (19 for 73), and Oakland (24 for 85)5) Home games against two of the worst run Ds with Buffalo who gives up 4.7 ypc/14 TD and Detroit who gives up 4.6 ypc/15 TD. 6) Ronnie Brown catches passes and that helps his floor even when he does poorly on the ground. The guy is doing poorly this year but he has the best part of his schedule coming up and he had 8 points against Oakland and 7 points against Cleveland in the past two weeks so even if he only gets that I would be happy. Don't start thinking that Buffalo and Detroit are suddenly beast defenses that are going to make Brown run for 20-30 total yards. That's kind of being ridiculous, Brown sucks this year but they aren't the Bears or even the Titans. He's averaging 4 ypc normally and like 2 receptions per game so ~50 total yards is probably his floor but given the opponent he should do a little better. As for TD, he has at least a 50% shot of getting a TD seeing as how those two teams pretty much average 1 TD a game. He's not a great play, probably not even a good play for RB2 but when you don't have much selection, you could do worse than Brown as a sleeper. Decent for a flex sleeper, total range from 50-75 total yards and 50% TD plus upside is passable. If you say any less you are being very pessimistic which is understandable considering how much of a let down he has been but this is realistic.edit: Oh and for people who think Ricky is the better play, Ronnie leads in rushing yards (623 to 506), receiving yards (166 to 86), rush/rec TDs (3 to 2), rushes (155 to 118) and only loses in ypc (4.29 to 4.02).

The split just isn't good enough to play either of them, no matter how good the matchup.
:P This is the problem. Unless one or the other is going to miss games, the offense is weak enough and they split the load enough to make both extremely unreliable. Even best case scenarios make them barely startable. If you're despereate, sure, take a shot - but don't expect anything better than weak RB2 numbers out of either unless the other misses time.

Playing either is only a last ditch if your desperate and have no other options. They absolutley hurt each other value. Ofcourse you will get 5-8 pts from them possibly and its better then zero. And I still say Ricky becasue he seems to be running good and he most likley will be with thge team next year while Ronnie will probally not be. Neither is a start this week ofcourse VS the Jets.

As a Ricky Williams owner, and I think it's the same for Ronnie Brown Owners, we need the other guy to pull up lame this weekend, and the week 15 and 16 games would be must starts for the other guy. Otherwise, either Ronnie or Ricky is your typical RB4 or RB5 on a playoff caliber FF team.

Sounds meanspirited, but just being truthful.

Sad, but true. At this point, the only Dolphin worth owning is kicker Dan Carpenter. Miami seems to play for the FG all too often.

With the win against the Jets - do the Dolphins have some playoff hopes that might spark better play out of Ronnie? He was somewhat productive against the Jets, considering the matchup and the weather. He seems very likely to get 12-15 carries and 70-90 yards against the Bills, with at least a 50% chance of a td. For a flex position, I would prefer this somewhat certain reliable 8-10 points out of running back then to roll out a wide receiver, like Driver or Holmes, who have a good chance of a goose egg.

 If your desperate and have no other options yeah I can see it, otherwise stay away. This team has been putrid for most of the year running the ball. I know it's Buffalo but our QB stinks, and our line is a mess.Stay away.

Yeah, topped 80 yards twice this year, and has 3 TDs. The only thing that's very likely is that anyone that counted on Ronnie Brown has long since stopped caring about fantasy football. I just checked one of my leagues. Santonio Holmes has 20 more points than Brown, and missed 4 games with a suspension. Oh, and he has outscored Ronnie pretty much every week since he showed up.
