Rookie DE's (1 Viewer)

I took over a team in a league that uses IDP's and the rookie draft is coming up. I have the 1st overall pick in the draft and, of course, I'm taking Reggie Bush.

But what about the rookie DE's like Mario Williams, Manny Lawson, and others? Where have they been going in rookie drafts? Can't seem to find a mock rookie draft on here.

Tick's sig may have some rookie ADP data and I'm pretty sure there was a dynasty thread in the SP from last month that had quite a few dynasty drafts with IDPs detailed. In my drafts, Williams was going as high as late first and as late as early third. Hali came off the board fairly late, with Tapp/Kiwanuka drafted late if at all.Lawson will be a linebacker and was still usually grabbed by the end of the second by sleepy owners in all of my leagues.

expect Mario Williams to go in the 2nd - as high as the early 2nd. The other DEs are fair game anytime aftger pick 50. Bump them up some if your league weights sacks heavily ( more than 3x the value of solo tackles)

Just two times the value of a tackle.I have the 1st pick in the second round, think I should try to trade down a couple spots or do you think Mario is decent value there? I think I forgot to mention the team I took over has 1 DE total on the roster (Courtney Brown).

Nope. In that scoring system, load up on the backers and safeties then (worst case scenario) flip your "worst" for better linemen. Better yet, there are probably some decent fellers on the wire. Post the top 50 or so DL free agents and we'll fill you up with better options than this year's rookie crop.

yeah, depending how big the league is, greg jennings fell to second a lot month or two ago (maybe not now with the great news out of camp & talk he might start...

marcedes lewis could be stud TE & sometimes goes in early-mid-second...

mario is a great prospect, but more valuable in leagues where sacks get 6 points...

see what the difference is between what he would generate as a top 10 DE & that of what guys like hali & tapp would be if they are more like top 30-40 DEs (they might have top 20 upside, but just in case), & they could be gotten many rounds later... or over what you would get from DE off WW or that could be gotten cheaply via trade...

than do same for LBs a.j. hawk or ernie sims, who might be top 10-20 guys in a few years, over LBs you could get via WW & cheaply thru trade...

in your scoring system, stud LB like hawk or sims might be way to go...

Hi guys - From what Bob just mentioned above... do you think I should target Super Mario? The Setup - [DYNASTY] rookie/FaVet mixed draft where I got the 1.11 pick... I'm positive that one of the 3 players listed below will be available - if not more than one... and this is where I need some advice: Who would be your pick between: Jerious Norwood / Santonio Holmes / Mario Williams?

It is a performance (1/10-6 & 1/30-4) + ppr league - where IDP scores only for sacks (6 pts) and ints (8pts)...

starting requirements: QB/RB/WR/TE/Flex: 1/1/2/0/2 - with a max of 1RB for the Flex spots... IDP - DL/DB: 3/1 or 2/2 - where LB are treated as DL

My team - after cuts:

QB: Palmer

RB: Portis - James

WR: Driver - Burress - Mason - Houshmandzadeh

TE: Heap - Watson

DL: Ogunleye - Grant - KGB

DB: Robinson

Best FaVets (my guess here since the cuts are not official):

QB: Frye - Grossman

RB: GJones - Turner - Bennett - Henry

WR: VJackson - Toomer - Booker - Northcutt

(as you can see - not much)

I'm inquiring at Super Mario since it is a salary cap league where IDP salaries are much cheaper than offensive guys (accordingly, since they only score 60 points for 10 sacks - compared to 150/200 for top RB/WR)... and thus, are never traded (Taylor, Strahan, Freeney and Peppers never changed team for the last 4 years)... They offer a competitive advantage though (even if they don't score much) since you need to start 3 on most weeks...

I guess the underlying question is: Will Super Mario be a consistent 8/10/12 sacks per year king of guy? Or are you not sold on him... And if so - will Norwood and/or Holmes ever become top FF contributors?

If not, any other guy you would target with the 1.11 pick?

(I'll be looking to add VJackson and BMarshall in the second and thrid round - do you think they'll last with the publicity they are getting from their respective TC? - especially with Watts being released by the Bolts - Or do you think I'd better grab Jackson with the 1.11?)

Last... are Wimbley and Lawson interesting prospects with that format? (to pick with the 2.12 or 3.09 for example)... or any other rookie?

Thanks in advance!

Check spec1alk's link - it's got 48 Zealots dynasty rookie drafts to use, which is a GREAT ADP for similar setups.

Thanks.I got a couple offers on the table involving the 2.04 and 2.06 picks. That seems to be around the average area Mario is going. I'm also trying to siphon another DE in those deals. Hey, gotta haggle a bit, right?
