Would like to hear some expert pros and cons on these players

Jamaal Anderson -- every down player, protected to some extent by Abraham, best IDP value of the four

Gaines Adams -- not yet a starter, questionable run support skill, could surprise as a situational player

Jarvis Moss -- situational player with run support questions, could get an expanded role with Ekuban's injury

Adam Carriker -- may be the best NFL player of the four but stuck at NT

Not an expert, but here's my I pretty much agree with Jean, but may have a larger gap between Anderson and Adams. I think Anderson is going to be special. For the most part Moss will have to rely on sacks. Depending on your leagues scoring, Carriker and Moss could end up about even at years end (FF pts). In terms of Denver DL, (and ofcourse how your league scores) I would have more interested in Crowder than Moss. (dynasty)

Not too much more to say about him really. He's got some nice edge rushing potential but the Broncos were hesitant to put him in an every down role right away despite moving up to get him in the first round. He's not a bad fit for a Bates scheme, though, so he may have a shot at an expanded role somewhere down the line. He's one of those undersized guys that are becoming more and more common as colleges put a premium on speed off the edges. Whether he's Dwight Freeney or Mark Anderson or Jared Allen or Elvis Dumervil or Robert Geathers etc remains to be seen.

– Tommy Kelly will open at right end, with Quentin Moses and Jay Richardson also seeing time. Unlike the offensive line, which ideally remains constant, the Raiders could use different starters in different weeks.

Kelly can play outside as well as inside. Defensive line coach Keith Millard compares Kelly's versatility to that of Trevor Pryce, who played both end and tackle in Denver when MIllard was an assistant there.

I can't get DirecTV or NFL Network, so I'm relying on the Forum and beat writers, blogs and message boards to keep up with the west coast teams for the most part. So, unfortunately I haven't seen Moses play and my opinion is limited. No one could agree on his prospects before the draft, but I think he has reasonable two-way potential, especially on the open end. Rookie ends will sometimes have an impact as a situational edge rusher but it often takes a year or more to settle into an every down role if at all. It's extremely rare to see a rookie DE put up a 40-10 year. Moses is probably a situational play at best this season. Worth stashing on dynasty rosters for certain but shouldn't be counted on for 2007.

I've watched every down of the Raiders pre-season. I am a fan of Moses potential from what I saw in college. Here's his story as best I can tell. After the OTAs he was anointed the starter opposite Burgess. Prior to the first game they decided to award Tommie Kelly with the start. He played well. Moses was first in the rotation and stayed on the field for most of the game. He wasn't particularly productive. We all know a DL can have a great game without much for stats. This wasn't the case with Moses. He seemed easy to keep out of the action, underpowered, and tired noticeably as the game wore on. But he never stopped battling. During the game the Raider broadcast homers (and they are homers, Plunkett, George Atkinson, you get the picture) were constantly raving about the coming greatness of Moses. I was happy to hear the praise. Jay Richardson started getting snaps in the second half, looked fresher and was blowing up the OL with some impressive work. Between games there were conflicting reports about Kelly and Moses and starting positions. Kelly started the next game, but was moved inside on passing downs when Moses came in. The praise for Moses continued. Kiffin was quoted saying he had been unblockable in practice. Keith Millard (DL coach) thinks he's going to be a very special player, and he's working over time after practice to get Moses ready for this season, decreasing the learning curve with extra work. Moses plays the entire game. Doesn't do anything real impressive. Late in the second quarter he gets the edge and a hurry. Middle of the 3rd quarter he slams the brakes, watches the LT stumble, and gets another hurry. He looks like any DE fighting hard but not talented enough to pile up stats for us IDP geeks. Jay Richardson comes off the bench fresh and blows things up again. Moses tires again. The glowing reports from Raider insiders and coaches are not easily matched with his play. I find it a tad confusing and disappointing. He looks like he needs to get stronger and meaner to me.

Thanks guys. I watched Moses carefully yet again yesterday. The Raiders looked great in "3rd game rehearsal mode". It's Tommie Kelly's job. He started and stayed on the field for most of the meaningful snaps in the first half. Richardson and Moses got nearly equal time and both played most of the 4th quarter. I still think Richardson looks a little better than Moses, and in this game they were both fresh for a change. They both looked good. Richardson is very solid along the LoS against the run. He's strong and he reads the run nicely. But, I finally saw what the buzz for Moses is about. This unblockable thing Kiffin mentioned. It never applied to the first stringers Quentin faced in the other games, and it never showed while he was tired late in these preseason games against scrubs. Yesterday, fresh against the scrubs, he was a beast.

The box shows one sack and the associated solo, but he made a mess of two LTs. He had another "sack" but the QB flung it incomplete as Moses twisted him to the ground. He chased the QB out of the pocket on two other plays forcing bad throws. He was tearing it up, finally.
