Rookie Draft in progress (1 Viewer)

Will

Drunk, not Stupid
We hold our rookie draft before the NFL does. (I know, many of you will find that stupid. That is not the point of this post)

I just figured some may like to see where the rookies are falling today.

As you can see, there was a lot of trading, so some teams had multiple picks.

I'll post more if anyone seems to care.

no QBs in round 1 is surprising. Also, someone is going to get great value on Olsen, Hunt and even Bush in addition to the QB. At 2.05, one of those is going to be great value.

I agree, I think this is the best year I can remember for second round picks. There are legitimate prospects into round 3 I think.Obviously the draft will change some of this. Martin Nance was high on a lot of lists last year at this time. But I would expect a lot of these guys get drafted and contribute in the NFL.

you mean which WR to take? For me it was fairly easy. I don't feel comfortable with Ginn. He may be great, but I'm not gambling on him. So it was Bowe and Rice for me, and Rice just seems to have the upside factor. I do like Bowe a lot too, but I was targetting Rice there.

Was 1.09 too big of a reach?
That's kinda why I traded it to you. I was hoping you'd do that and save me from making the move. I wanted Rice at 1.09 but I need RBs so bad I was very tempted to take the best looking RB (IMO) left. But I did feel it was a reach. I think Rice (and Bowe) have a much better chance of becoming great players than Jackson does so I was hoping you'd take him and leave me an easy choice.I was actually a little nervous you might snag Rice, but then I figured I am probably higher on him than most and he's safe. Besdides, I had Bowe there anyway. I like them both.Jackson will probably be a steal and I'll be begging you to trade him to me for Benson soon anyway.

I always thought it would be interesting to draft teams prior to the draft. Then you get whatever draft picks that team took. Would make draft day a lot more exciting/irritating considering trade ups/downs.

Puts that Viking fiasco in a whole new light...Houston passes on Bush...Jets trade their first for Doug Jolley...Guys would be jumping out of windows.I'd be up for it

Hopefully someone had the foresight to grab 2.01 and 2.02. Lock up Quinn/Russell and call it a day.
I'm sorry...did you say something? I made a mess in my pants looking at your avatar. :banned: :banned:

A full screen of that avatar would be dazzling!Back to the draft - no Jamarcus Russell?

Looks like Quinn and Russell just went early in the 2nd. I think that is good value for both. I am somewhat surprised that Quinn went before Russell.

scoring/lineup?
1 per 10 rush/rec, 1 per 25 pass, 6 point TDs, PPRStart 1 QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1 TE, 1K 1D and a flex (RB, WR, TE)

no IDP
With that many points for all TDs, I would have thought the 2 QBs would have gone earlier.

2.07-Redzone Villians - Tony Hunt

2.08-Redzone Villians- Anthony Gonzalez

2.09-Seattle Stars- Jason Hill

2.10-Cali Gigilos- Johnnie Lee Higgins

2.11-Cali Gigilos-Aundrae Allison

Thanks for the post. I sit at 1.07 and 1.08, Curious what I should do.

Same scoring as this league

QB's - Leinart, Favre, and Carr are my only QB's

Im pretty sure Im locked to take Quinn or Russell.

RB - LT, McGahee, Caddy, A-Train, Then a bunch of junk.

WR- A. Johnson, Lee Evans, a bunch of junk who I rotate in an out.

Right now I am leaning toward RB-QB and then WR in round 2.

Brian Leonard, Michael Bush, Antonio Pittman and Booker will all get attention from me at the #5 spot depending on where they each end up. Bloom has me excited about Booker and I like Pittman, and think Leonard could be a TD machine and good PPR player.

Bowe at 11 and Hill at 21 are both great values. Hill is well into my top 20 since the last Bloom 100.
I had a tough call at 1.10 between Bowe and Rice. My feeling was Bowe seemed like a safer pick, Rice seems like he might have more upside. I gambled. Now I am anxiously waiting to see where these guys land. It actually makes the draft more fun (if that's possible)I liked Hill a lot too, I was picking at 2.12 and had hoped he would be there. I thought another QB and maybe a TE might go in the second, pushing him back to me. No luck there, so I settled for Jacoby Jones at 2.12Pretty happy with that too actually.

This is great for looking at talent based ADP Will. I really aprechiate the post. I recall looking at this from your league last year also and it being useful for me. The 2nd round really has some nice prospects this year with the WR class being so deep. I have allready made one attempt to trade a 1st round pick to an owner with 2 mid 2nd round picks. I am going to try that again using pick 1.07 I think.Bush and Hunt were wasted picks imo. I hope that happens in my leagues as well. The top of the 3rd round still has some nice prospects left from my perspective. A couple more Qbs and Wrs still worth drafting. My league has IDPs also so there are more prospects there.

I understand Bush, but how is Hunt a wasted pick in the mid 2nd?

I am really looking forward to my 8 round IDP draft and it isn't for months.... :wall:
Same here. I traded away my highest picks, but still have pick #20. In a WR friendly league, I'm liking the value there. I realize it's early, but am I the only one not seeing a huge drop off from pick #4 to the end of the 2nd round (pick 22 to 24)? I prefer Meachem to the others, but not by as much as in previous years.

Because I do not think Hunt will ever be anything more than a back up short yardage role player in the NFL. I see that being his upside. A poor mans Greg Jones. I hope that others are more optimistic about him and use a high pick on him however.

I have to agree here. Hunt feels kinda like Jonathan Wells to me. Another Big Ten back from a few years ago who was viewed as a big power guy with upside that never really got there. I could see Hunt making the move to FB before I could see him contributing as a RB...Just a feeling I have. But I was very happy to see him go off the board pushing that extra guy down to me.

ETA - it's funny but besides the Wells comparison the other thought I had was he is a slower version of Greg Jones...

Glad it helps a little. I really like to see and read as much as I can about these guys before the draft, because once they get drafted so much of their value is then based on situation. Guys can rise and fall quite a bit based on their perceived 'good' and 'bad' situations, and, although I think that's fair to a point, I am also a big believer in the 'cream always rises' philosophy. So next month when I am trying to decide between two guys, I can fall back on who was considered to be 'better' before they got drafted as a tie breaker of sorts.I agree about the second round, there are a lot of talented players in that 13-24 range. Especially WRs. The draft will probably clear this up a bit but I still think second round picks will produce some pretty nice players. I actually used this idea in a startup dynasty last year. I traded out of a few spots to pick up second round picks this year. I now have 6 second rounders. I'm pretty happy about it now. We'll see how I feel next year...As I said above, I agree about Hunt. He's not for me. But I would take a shot with Bush, maybe not quite as high as 2.1, but somewhere mid second I think I'd pull the trigger. It's a gamble but I could see a payoff there if he gets healthy and ends up somewhere he can contribute a little. Even if it's just to trade him after he plays his first good game, I would think someone would bite and offer better than mid second value. I haven't heard anything that says the leg won't eventually heal, have you?
