Rookie IDPs? (1 Viewer)

I thought I saw someplace before a review of the rookie IDPs but I can't find the article or thread. The only thing I could find was pre-draft review.

We only start 2DL, 2 LB and 2 DB but I was looking for a very late rookie IDP that I could stash.

This will be our first year of a limited keeper. Next year we can keep one rookie IDP from this year. Limited rosters so I need somebody who will start by midseason.

Thanks.

There are links to the real time draft review and discussion thread and the post draft podcast in the pinned Warehouse thread. There are links to the spotlight discussions above, too. Separate group threads for the rookies at each of the major defensive positions can be found in the pinned spotlight series thread.

The list of rookies who will could start by midseason is pretty short.

Robert Ayers (likely)

Michael Johnson (unlikely)

Tyson Jackson (likely)

BJ Raji

Peria Jerry

James Laurinaitis

Aaron Curry

Brian Cushing

Rey Maualuga (possibly)

Clint Sintim (unlikely)

Clay Matthews (possibly)

Louis Delmas

William Moore (unlikely)

Michael Mitchell (unlikely)

Sean Smith

Malcolm Jenkins (possibly)

Add to that list.:Brian OrakpoDavid Veikune (possibly)Everette Brown (unlikely)Alphonso Smith (nickel and KR)Patrick Chung (unlikely unless Meriweather moves to FS)Connor Barwin (unlikely, but key backup/situational role)and William Moore was talked about as starting FS in Atlanta with Coleman moving to SS?Curry, Orakpo, and Cushing have the most interesting positions, IMO. All are listed as Sam backers in 4-3 teams that are using some type of under front and/or are experimenting with those players as "flex" type DE at times. Typically staying away from Sam backers is a smart move, but those situations are the ones to look for for a breakout player. I'm not real big on any of the DB's in the group except for Alphonso Smith if becomes a dynamic returner.Assuming that the high profile rookies are not "sleepers" in your league, then I would think Everette Brown or David Veikune could be great steals long term for your league. Brown should replace Peppers next season if they don't sign a longer term deal and Veikune could be a great Rush LB in the Browns 3-4 (why they don't play him there in pre-season is beyond me).

:lmao:Orakpo was a pretty bad omission. Thought I had him on there.

Thanks for the info. People don't generally roster a whole lot of defensive players so some of these high profile rookies should be available late.

Add Ravens DE Paul Kruger as likely to start week 1 to your lists. He's been solid and receiving a lot of playing time with the first string in training camp and in the games.

I like where that is going, as i drafted Kruger late. But, who is he replacing from last year?

Kruger is very good but his PT in pre-season has come due to the injury of Suggs. Even when Suggs is back he should still get some solid situational PT, like when the Ravens run a 4-3 look, but not starting time unless Suggs is injured.

The Ravens ARE running a 4-3.

I've been reading about their scheme changes, but I still can't believe they will "abandon" their hybrid 3-4/4-3 completely. If they do and they line up Kruger as DE next to Ngata, with Suggs at WOLB, then we might actually see some QB get his head knocked off.

The Ravens should do this as I'm not "sold" on Gooden (who could rotate at Sam backer with Johnson) and their cornerbacks are not that solid anymore.

It will be interesting to see if Kruger still gets his PT when Suggs comes back.

No, they certainly won't dismantle the hybrid system, but they have been predominantly running the 4-3 in practices and in games and I like what I see. It's similar to what they have when they won the 2001 Superbowl with Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa clugging up the middle, now it's Haloti Ngata and Kelly Gregg.

Yeah that's what I've heard as well. Do you see Kruger staying on the field in that scheme, when Suggs is back?Kruger seems like a better WDE fit at 4-3 with Suggs at WLB, but not sure what they will do.

How much PT will Everette Brown be getting?

My DL is putrid and I am willing to ride out some poor weeks from him for a payoff down the road, but I would like to see that payoff sooner than later.
