Rookie RB's with the best chance to start & be pr? (1 Viewer)

Looking at the other 4 touted rookies, Maroney/Williams/White/Addai, all may have a chance to start at some point and time this year. I think there will be 5 factors as to which one of these rookie RB's would start and be the most poductive. 1) Competiton/Injuries with the starting RB 2) Offensive Line 3) Talent 4) Coaching philosophy(run/pass oriented) 5) Intangibles . Based on these factors I would rank them in the following categories:

1) Addai, Maroney, White, Williams

2) Addai, Williams, Maroney, White

3) Williams, White, Maroney, Addai

4) Williams, Addai, Maroney , White

5) Williams, White, Maroney, Addai

So if we used a ranking system of 4 being the highest and 1 being the lowest for each category then I would rank them as follows:

1) Williams - 16

2) Addai- 13

2) Maroney - 11

3) White - 10

Please feel free to comment or add more categories and rank them. Discuss!!!!

I disagree with your assessment. I think Williams is the most likely to be buried on the bench next year. There's not much of a talent gap between him and Foster (if any).

I think White has the best chance of being an impact FF player this year. I think he could be a week one starter and will likely be given a lot of carries. That team isn't great, but a lot of rookie backs have put up respectable numbers on bad teams (Corey Dillon, Anthony Thomas, LaDainian Tomlinson, Jamal Lewis, and Kevin Jones come to mind).

Addai will also have a good chance to make an early impact, but I'm not as high on his talent as I am on White's. My guess is that he'll be more of a RBBC type this year, making him a decent RB3, but a weak RB2.

Maroney is the wild card. Dillon has probably lost a step or two. The real question is how quickly Belichick and company will be willing to hand over the reigns to the rookie. It's a coin flip at this point. If the team comes out and struggles, then they might make a change. If the team continues to win most of its games, then Maroney will probably ride the pine this year.

My assessment was mearly who would be the most productive RB when they do start not who'll be the first to start. I agree with you that Foster could keep Williams on the bench and you'll see that I ranked him last in the competition category because I think Foster is a more talented RB than any of the others that are starters. You'll also see that in terms of talent I ranked White right behind Williams and maybe he is more talented. It's close.
