Just wanted to share this interesting statistic:
Starts by rookies, 2002-2006
2002: 717
2003: 713
2004: 719
2005: 750
2006: 868
To put this in perspective on a per team basis:
2002: 22.4
2003: 22.3
2004: 22.5
2005: 23.5
2006: 27.1
Huge increase in number of starts per team last year. Thoughts?
1) Was 05 THAT GOOD of a draft?
2) Are teams pushing rooks to start sooner?
3) Did teams suddenly get better at drafting starting last year?
Also wouldn't this subject be a topic the Football Draft Guys would dive teet-deep into? If they broke out the starters by round/position and then posted the stats of best/worst chance of finding starters at each position by round, THEN that would be of interest to everyone. Also if they could take it a step futher and look a few years down the line to see starters over time rather than just concentrating off of rookie seasons. Ofcourse if they even took it futher to pick out Pro Bowlers to show the best/worst odds of finding Pro Bowl players by round/position then that would be of tremendous use by everyone. Hint-hint Bloom!
