Rookies that are "must starts" (1 Viewer)

RB:

Jahvid Best. 98 rushing yards, 14/170 receiving, 5 TDs. He's the #1 overall RB in fantasy right now. He's probably a must start even from a hospital bed, and we will decide that in a few weeks.

WR:

Mike Williams. Tampa's top WR. 7/84/2. Not setting the world afire, but he has a TD in each game and has 16 targets in 2 games. He is WR20 in PPR. If you are starting him as your third WR, you are happy right now.

Dez Bryant. 10/108. He works out better if you get return yardage/return TDs counted. He still has 14 targets. If you expected a third WR production from him you are probably happy. Chances are you expected more and are not.

TE:

Tony Moeaki. He has 14 targets, which is more than anyone not named Heap, Shiancoe and Dallas Clark. 6/79/1 puts him at TE8 so far.

Borderline:

Ryan Matthews. 24/101/0. 3/31. No TDs yet. He probably would have been bumped up to the top 20 RBs had he finished last game. He's got a fumble streak going and gets banged up in the game. That's not a good start.

Jordan Shipley. 10/124/0. Has 13 targets so far. Doesn't sound impressive, but right now he's the WR35 in PPR leagues.

Aaron Hernandez. 7/146 on 8 targets. He had one game with only two passes thrown to him and a big game against the Jets. It's only two games, but people should expect up and down games. Is this what you want from your TE?

Nice list. Best is a beast. Has any rookie ever won ROY and MVP in same year?

I know it's early and that MVP awards rarely, if ever, go to players on losing teams, but all things considered for Detroit, in most any other Division, they'd be 2-0 right now and it would be solely a credit to Best. He has blown their offense up tremendously and I'd imagine that no one is looking forward to playing Detroit as much as they may have in previous years.

Another name maybe to add to your borderline list could be that J. Gresham, TE, CIN.

I need to see how Best fares this week against the Vikings before annointing him as the chosen one. His first week wasn't exactly a dominating performance (<2 ypc, IIRC), although he did score well with the two short TDs.

I'm not anointing him anything, but out of 128 total plays, Best had 51 towards him. That's a big part of the offense. He gets goalline carries. He not only gets outlet passes, but first option passes. So let's imagine that he's not going to go nuts like he did yesterday. He is still the biggest part of his offense as any RB in the league is. I never said he's an automatic first RB, but he's in your starting lineup without a doubt.

Not trying to hijack this into a Javid Best thread...

I agree that he's a huge part of what makes up the Lions. I just have concerns that he's a huge part of what makes up the Lions! I agree he gets goalline carries, and have concerns that he won't get near the goalline vs. the Vikes. As far as being "in your starting lineup without a doubt":

In addition to starting Peterson, I basically have to pick between Best vs. the Vikes or LeSean McCoy vs. the Jags (who allow ~120 RuYd/game and already 3 RuTD). I'm thinking McCoy might be the better play, especially if Kolb gets that start.

best and williams. dez isnt must start yet expecially on that team who would rather waste about a dozen targets on the likes roy williams, 3rd string running backs and backup tightends.

The Lions are a top 10 scoring team, as of today. Who wouldn't want the biggest piece of a top 10 offense?

Oh come on. :lmao:
What's so funny. Best is special no doubt. But he is on pace for 40 Td's First game he was 11-22 with 2 Td's. That won't happen again. Td's will come back to earth big time. When he starts getting Chris Johnson yardage totals THEN I'll start treating him like CJ.

Not a fan of top 20 WRs and top 10 TEs?

In start 3 WR leagues, I promise you, Tampa Mike is a must start.
The thread said must start. I own Williams in multiple leagues and I have a 14 team auction league that has Hernandez as my only TE. The point is that they have value but Best is the only one who is a week in/week out start. Matthews could work his way their but 2 fumbles in 2 games plus an injury is not a way to do it. Although, given his ADP he will probably be a start. Williams has done well enough so far and the tune might change soon enough, but you can't honestly tell me he is a must start? He has had 2 really nice touchdown plays and that is about it. Can you keep counting on the touchdowns to be there? On the tight end front ... which tight end do you trust enough? Gresham was supposed to be the guy, he had a nice game and a sub par game. Hernandez might be the next great TE, but he has had the same good/bad game combo. Nobody in the KC passing game is a "Must start" even if Tony Moeaki has been good so far. Also, the jury is still out on Demaryius Thomas because he has only played what 2 quarters worth of football.

Damaryius Thomas had a nice debut yesterday for the Broncos. 8-97-1
:goodposting: And he lead the team in targets. He isn't "must start" yet, but in 1-2 weeks he could be.
