ROS Kicker Recommendation (1 Viewer)

and how accurate is Herman's Kickermania thing? I've never used it before. I picked up Dan Bailey after someone dropped him....but I see that he's only ranked like 10th and Feely is all the way up at 3rd ..that I might switch to
I'd seriously think about Tucker vs NJY, if available.

What's so special about Alexy Henery? He's only had double digit points twice all season?
His lack of big games worries me too, but the league I'm shopping for a kicker in I have a first round bye so just need a kicker for week 15 and 16 and he plays @ Minnesota and then vs Chicago. Both juicy matchups. The Eagles will be scoring a bunch of points in both, but they have been TD's lately and not FG's.

I'm going to roll with Folk ROS, no matter what last weekend indicated. Surely, the Jets won't be behind to that extent another week for the rest of the season.
I was planning to do the same. Don't think I'm going to do that anymore. Are you? 2 stinkers in a row and don't see the Jets improving. I'm thinking about going with Feely, Henery or Akers.

Tucker's been en fuego and now has an awesome matchup vs MIN.

Feely has something like 76 points in 6 home games and has St Louis coming up at home. St Lou has actually been pretty tough on kickers of late but just gave up 12 to Dawson. Then @ TEN and @ SEA, which aren't great.

Dawson has returned to his winning ways with double digit scores in 4 straight games.... but now gets Seattle. Last 2 weeks @ TB & vs ATL look very good though.

Crosby continues to plummet but GB vs ATL is actually a good matchup and Rodgers maybe maybe maybe comes back week 15.

I changed my mind on Folk too. Wow, the Jets really did implode, didn't they? In only a few short weeks after I had posted that. I will never start a kicker for a team that is nearly guaranteed to fall behind by a couple of scores.

Right now I'm just going to play the best matchup each week, and stream kickers as long as I'm in the playoffs. This week I'm leaning Henery for the matchup, but I feel apprehensive since he's burned me before. FWIW, all of the experts like Henery this week as a top option.

Going with tucker and crosby in my two leagues. If the news turns negative on rodgers I am going to dump crosby though

Rolled with Sturgis the last couple of weeks, and I like what I'm seeing. He was strong to start the year, then experienced a bit of a dip, but has come on the last month or so.

Gets Pittsburgh this weekend in what could be a bit of a messy game weather-wise, but I always prefer to get a lot closer to game time before I make that call. Pittsburgh is actually a plus matchup for kickers, and the Dolphins are willing to ride Sturgis' leg quite a bit.

Feel like I broke my curse last week... hopefully Sturgis proves me right.

Totally. Just when I am wavering on Crosby once again, I look at this weeks matchup against Atlanta which seems juicy and then the hope of Rodgers to come back.Difficult to simply stand and stick when he hasn't put up big numbers for weeks, but there is still that hope that the season ends well for him.

Considering Henery or Dawson this week though. Could see Dawson kicking quote a few field goals at home to Seahawks

Feeling like an idiot here. I've found it before, but can't now. Where the heck is the Kickermania file?

Even the onsite search came up with nothing.

The easiest way for me to always get to it is by clicking on the 2013 Inseason Page: Week XX - Staff. It's always pinned under "What's Hot" in the top left on the home page. Then just do a search, I think it's about half way down.

Was leaning towards Henery but watch out for weather this week.

PHI, CHI, BALT, PIT could all have some combination of cold/ice/rain.

I turned toward Novak in warm SD with the NYG coming to town. SD should be able to move the ball, but NYG's new found D may shut them down a bit in the redzone.

I may go Feely at home vs StL.

StL statistically look like a poor matchup vs kickers, but Feely at home has matched the AZ defense at home: 15, 11, 13, 9, 9, 19, an average of around 12.7, which is ridiculously good.

Good call on the home averages for Feely. I hadn't even considered that. FWIW, the kicker file has him 3rd this week. I have never used that file but from reading this thread, folks seem to believe in it. I'm hoping whoever does it does more research than other sites because most others (Roto and ESPN) have Feely #13 this week.

according to fantasypros.com, Herman's kicker accuracy is 108 out of 115 experts (46.3%). I don't know how they come up with that percentage anyways but it's interesting nonetheless.

Being shut down in the red zone is actually a good thing for kicker points since it results in more field goal attempts.

I think that was his point.

I got a good feeling on Dawson this week, he has been solid last 4 games and with Crabtree back and playing at home I think this game will end up coming down to field goal battle! Just my 2 cents

I think combining the FFPA chart vs FF points scored is the best way to go. You should have combination of both.

This past week bucking Crosby vs the Falcs was a bad idea, ATL came in allowing the most FF points / gm to kickers and sure enough Flynn and weather and all Crosby had a good game, about 11 points.

Feely at home where he's been scoring around 12 points per game faced the Rams who were allowing the 4th fewest FFPA / gm and he came up with just 4, the Cards scored TDs instead of FGs.

That's an interesting way of doing it and it worked for the sample you cited. Has this worked throughout the season and how accurate is it?

It didn't help that Feely missed 2 FGs, including a 25 yarder.

I didn't realize Feely missed on 2, if he makes both then it's a 12 point day for him, which is good. Unless a kicker is really in a slump I don't think you can predict any of that. Before that game he was 22/24 on the year, which is really good.

I am like most people and roll with a kicker that just gets on a streak, either due to a good offense or because of a good defense. Both mean opportunities. Crosby was my K earlier this year, but then Rodgers happened. I tried to stream kickers last year and it didn't work, mainly because it took too much work every week and also because it takes a whole season of data to really see who does what. But it's just like every other position, if a mid-tier QB/RB/WR/TE faces a statistically good defense you may start them. The difference with kickers is that most teams carry only 1-2 so there are typically a lot on the WW so lots to choose from. The best I ever did at this was two years I picked up Gano for the Skins vs the Vikes and he put up 17 or so in the championship. This time of year the effort is totally worth it, I hope.

I'd say the best bets this week are Dawson vs TB or Gano (Car) vs NYJ. They may likely be gone already though.

If Rodgers comes back Crosby is a great pickup again. I just can't get over how bad Flynn is.

I stuck with Crosby last week due to the matchup with Atlanta, and the patience finally paid off in part.

Dawson is still sitting there on my WW though. If Rodgers doesn't come back this week, I'll be torn. Crosby in a dome against a crappy D is good enough on its own, irregardless of who is at QB

Agree. Got crosby in one matchup and tucker in another. Both in domes in potentially high scoring games. Can't really ask for more
