Rosario Oweners. Time to cut bait? (1 Viewer)

THis guy looked like a monster week 1. Tons of targets and goalline looks. However since he has seen limited action. I am just wondering if this is due to lingering foot injuries, or is King supplanting him (even if based on the injuries) Don't like wasting a roster spot on a non-starting TE, especially one whose injury seems to be lingering.

Any Panthers homers care to chime in?

I wouldnt just dump him. Its not like theres a ton of TEs burning up the waiver wire. Hell have a few good games here and there but I dont see him finishing much higher than TE10. Hes a solid TE2 with some upside.

I'd probably dump him in redraft. He's at best splitting time with King.

Dynasty? He's shown flashes of serious talent. Strong hold there.

interesting. the falcons have let up a pretty decent amt of yards to TEs this year.

All TE against ATL in 2008

I added him to my lineup in one league, hoping he'd help out while Shockey was out ..... BIG mistake there ... dumped him to the WW for Dustin Keller last night .. with Favre "The Gunslinger" and the J E T S back in action this week I'm sure I won't be seeing any more 0's from the TE slot!!

Rosario sure looks like a one week wonder .... but the reemergence of Mush probably has something to do with it as well as the return of Super Smirf and Jake has never been a big check down to the TE kinda QB either!

He looked good at the end of last season as well. Dynasty leagues I think he's a very strong hold. But he has been dinged up, Moose has looked good and as pointed out above, Jake isn't a TE check down QB. However, the OC Jeff Davidson has always been very kind to TEs (Linky ) and I think that in time, he will work the TE into the scheme more. It's only his second year in Carolina. And I feel very sure that he's thinking of how to tailor the scheme to Rosario, not King.

If I had to guess, it'll be Gary Barnridge. He's able to stretch the middle of the field better than Rosario. Jeff King is the current "starter" but all 3 will rotate through the game. Not enough passes for any of them to be featured unless something drastically changed.

Having had Rosario on my roster all last year as a free agent pcikup and then having the opportunity to grab him in our auction/contract league in August, I passed on him. He's in that category of players where his situation is bad enough that he'll have to prove it to me first before I make a move on him. But that means everyone else wil be moving on him too. He just doesn't inspire me with enough hope to move on him early.

Alright, we're back to where we were last year. Two TDs in his last two games, one coming on national TV again. Is it another flash in the pan or is he breaking out?

He is healthy now, and the Panthers lack of a good #3 WR is getting Rosario more time.

Everytime I see Rosario, I come away impressed. Of course, I've only watched 3 or 4 Panther games over the past year, but am I wrong in saying that the man has excellent hands, and can do a little something after the catch? Unless the man is a matador-esque blocker, the Panthers are not utilizing him correctly, and some team will snatch him and he will produce solid to good numbers, imo...

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot about the injury last year...sign him if you have the room!

I'm half tempted to drop Zach Miller for him. I know Jake isn't much of an upgrade but my god is Russell awful.

I was thinking the exact same thing! Miller is talented but Russell is garbage. And I'm not sure Al Davis will let them bench him. What a waste of talent (Zach Miller I mean). Rosario is on bye so I guess we gotta give Jamarcus one more shot at manning up for Miller.

Bingo. Guy has skills, but he blocks like he's on skates, and thats when he gets his hands on the defender. Split out wide, he's a nice 3rd target. Jeff King is the starter because he blocks well and catches well in flat. Rosario and Barnridge are the "stretch the middle of the field" TE's and for some reason, Jeff Davidson (OC) can't seem to grasp that and utilize them effectively. I'll bet week 4, he gets 0 receptions for 0 yds. :blackdot:
