Who is the 6th player to drop? Should I keep any of those guys I am thinking of dropping?

You could probably drop Edell Sheppherd safely.

I'll just piggyback onto this instead of starting my own.. I already made some room for adding IDP prospects by cutting some players. I have to cut 3 by the first game of the fourth week of preseason, and then two more before the start of the regular season, for five total.

I'm think I'll have to cut Mewelde and Bruschi & Fincher with the first round perhaps, but I'm not sure about the rest. (I'd like to note I love Bruschi but with this latest injury...) I've got a little bit of time left of course, but reports on Fincher so far aren't encouraging, especially if he has, indeed, been demoted. Devrey Henderson is another likely candidate, I like what I've seen of Hass. Other than that, I'm not sure, and I might like to cut a few extra to leave roster spots open for surprise players or players I've been eyeing (like Jimmy Williams, CB, ALT). Suggestions?

Sorry if that's a long list, but I think you should be dumping a lot of guys and hitting the waiver wire to replace some of them.

There's a guy named Chase Blackburn in the league? Sounds like a soap opera name to me.

StuntRock, guys who look cuttable:

Great team. If I had to cut three, I'd probably cut Emmons, Kears, Hass, and Hagans.

Spec

taxi squad- Collins, wells

IR - Finneran

Cut- a PK, Blackburn, Cloud

Look at some of those names Tick provided. I don't agree 100% with his list, but there are spots where you can probably upgrade your squad with low cost players.

personally, i probably would not have both Rogers and Martin, but I see you preparing for post Farve GB. Haggans depending on how sack friendly this league is. Haas, just comes off has having a WR3 or 4 upside evne if makes it. One of the DLmen, probably Henderson only becuase he is DT.

Definitely cut Mike Cloud. I don't think he's even still on the Giants roster.

Don't cut Chase Blackburn. He's the primary backup to MLB Antonio Pierce. Pierce is not an injury prone guy but that MLB spot in NY is a fantasy producer. Blackburn is closer to being a point producer than a lot of guys currently on your roster.

Besides ... Chase Blackburn is a cool Pirate name.

I drafted chase blackburn late in our initial draft. I saw him get playing time late last season when the giants had some injury problems. He had a very big game and seemed to have that big play ability. Here is what he scored in week 16 against the redskins:

I will take a look at who is available on the WW for WR, LB, and DB. I don't want to cut sammy morris since he is the primary backup to ronnie brown.

Just so I don't sound like I'm bashing your roster, my Z39 roster has just as many cuttable guys - that was a pretty even draft, and in the late rounds there just wasn't much available. I've probably got 15-20 guys I don't think will ever start for me and who should be replaced, but it takes awhile to fill a roster in with guys who slip through the cracks.

I didnt take it that way at all Tick.

This roster is my team in Z48 and the WW is pretty bare. It was a VERY hard draft. We had 2 professional fantasy writers, I think 8 or 9 of the guys were existing zealots, and one of the new guys was an original founder who left for a while. So by round 45 or so every player was a long shot.

Despite what my roster looks like, I think I can be competitive since most teams drafted very strong in some areas and neglected others. I feel I am pretty even accross the board but strong in important areas. Here is my team critique.

I have big issues at QB. I think ben roethlistberger will be a solid fantasy starter and will place in the top 10. He was averaging about 20pt/game last year before he got hurt. My problem is that I have no one behind him. I do like the chances of Griese being the starter in CHI soon, but I was hoping collins would land in a starting job somewhere (like NYJ) and I was planning on McCown winning the starting job in DET (which doesn't look likely). I have a bad habit of waiting too long to grab a QB and in this draft it really bit me.

Boller, Kyle BAL QB

Collins, Kerry FA QB (taxi squad)

Griese, Brian CHI QB

Jacobs, Omar PIT QB

Martin, Jamie NOS QB

McCown, Josh DET QB

Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB

I think there are good and bad things about my RBs. I think my combo of Tiki + LT is very good. I think my problem is that I don't have that 3rd starter. This is going to make bye weeks very tough. I have alot of garbage here too, but looking at last year with GBP some of these guys are bound to start at least 1 week.

Barber, Tiki NYG RB

Cloud, Mike NYG RB

Goings, Nick CAR RB

Harris, Arlen DET RB

Haynes, Verron PIT RB

Humes, Cedric PIT RB

Moats, Ryan PHI RB

Morris, Sammy MIA RB

Smith, Antowain HOU RB

Toefield, Labrandon JAC RB

Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB

My WRs have a couple really good players and then garbage. I figure my starters will be DJax, Walker, Rod Smith (not too hot on starting 2 WR from the same team, but thats the way it worked out), and Matt Jones. This all hinges on Matt Jones IMO. If he turns out to be a realiable starter I could be in for a treat, if not I am going to have to play matchup between these other guys. I picked up andre davis and josh reed mainly because I want to see how they do in BUF but now that peerless price is there, Im wondering if they will never see the light of day. I picked up Edell Shepherd mainly because coach gruden thinks he is something special. Randle El is mainly depth.

The way the draft worked out I ended up with 3 great TEs. I traded up to get gates not knowing that witten would fall to me where he did. During the draft, I was in about the 6th round and did not like any of the value at that spot except for witten. I tried to trade down, but no one wanted to. I have gotten a couple offers for witten but nothing to get excited about. I think wiggins is underrated. Last year he had at least 2 TDs called back by penalties. If those had not been called back he would have been ranked in that second tier of TEs.

Gates, Antonio SDC TE

Wiggins, Jermaine MIN TE

Witten, Jason DAL TE

Waited too long to get a PK and ended up with scobee and hall. Drafted gostkowski in the 6th round of the rookie draft. Here is the part that sucks. I would like to drop hall and keep scobee and gostkowski but both scobee and gostkowski have the same bye week so one of them has to go. Not sure which one. Any ideas?

Gostkowski, Stephen NEP PK

Hall, John WAS PK

Scobee, Josh JAC PK

Castillo was a homer pick and I should probly cut him. I like my starters of Grant and Strahan. Bryan Thomas was picked up off the WW and if he keeps being listed as a DE on the depth chart he could be a nice sleeper. Tamba is for the future since strahan is pretty old. I could also cut hayward.

When we did our draft I wasnt very happy with my LBs but now that the dust has settled I am pretty pleased. I figure my starters are pierce, trotter, dansby with my bye week fillers being june and vrabel and possibly mcintosh if he wins the starters role. I can probly cut blackburn, nece, and haggans.

First off, inform your Commish that the Cardinals has Ricky Williams on his Inactive List. Because he was suspended for drugs you either have to keep him on your 53-man roster or dump him. If the Commish disagrees then tell the Czar.

In other news, the Buccaneers have both Jay Feely and Jeff Reed as his kicker. They both have a bye in Week 4. Send him an email telling him that you're in the same situation. Offer Gostkowski or Scoobey for Reed (I'd imagine he'd want to keep Feely). Problem solved.

Kyle Orton and Hank Baskett is still available. Your opinion of Baskett is up to you, but I would most definitely drop one of your DB's and make an aggressive bid on Orton. He wasn't "great" last year, but how many rookies start 10 games? He'll be a factor in the long-term for the Bears or another team.

I would also trade Rod Smith or Javon Walker for another WR who's not on the same team as any of your other good WR's. It's a ##### trying to figure out who to start each week.

Great info in here so far. Hope you don't mind if I hop in with my cutdown questions. This is my first foray into the dynasty format so any advice is definitely appreciated.

My league has to cutdown to a 35-man roster and 5-man taxi squad (rookies only). I was thinking of keeping the following players where *=KEEP and T=Taxi. This would leave me two open roster slots for WW pickups without having to drop someone who would give me dead contract years. Is that a smart strategy?
