Steve Smith told the NFL Network said he "thinks" he'll be ready for Week 1, "if everything stays on track."It was surprising to see an abnormally sedate Smith sound so indecisive with his outlook. Smith also said he didn't need to repeat his huge 2005 season because of the presence of Keyshawn Johnson. It's only an interview, but not an encouraging one.

The media keeps hounding Smith and Johnson about if they can get along, so naturally Smith is not going to go on about himself.

As for his hamstring, here is what Fox said today when asked if Smith has suffered a setback with his hamstring: "No. He actually had an ingrown toenail. We're just being cautious with the hamstring, but there's been no setback other than an ingrown toenail."
