Rough RB Matchups in Week 5... (1 Viewer)

No, this isn't a "Who do I play?" thread. :lmao:

I'm just curious how many others out there are facing a similar situation this week as I am.

I drew the 11-spot in a 12-man redraft and ended up trading out of the first round with the guy in the 2-hole to stockpile 2nd-6th round picks. I basically had 6 picks in the top 50, but had to wait forever for pick 14, where I started my WR-heavy draft. Drafting (TO/Fitz/Royal) and trading (Wayne/Housh) got me LOTS of WR depth. Going that route, though, left me picking up my starting RB's in rounds 3-7.

Now, this week it looks like it's going to hurt a bit. My RB's are Bush, MJD, Chris Johnson, and Ronnie Brown. The schedule wasn't kind, dropping the likes of Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and San Diego (the easiest of the bunch) against those guys here in Week 5.

So I'm curious if others are facing a similar situation after going WR-heavy, or whether most of you have at least one semi-reasonable option this week. Other later-round RB starters and matchups include Turner (GB), Perry (DAL), Taylor (PIT), and Edge (BUF). At least there's some relief for the Forte and Graham drafters against DET and DEN.

For the record, I'm probably rolling Ronnie out against San Diego along with TO/Fitz/Wayne. Though Johnson's performance against Minnesota last week is making me think hard about it. Might have to dig to find my old 4-sided die!

I went WR early with Moss (ouch) and then Plax and Marshall 2 of the next 3 rounds. My RB's are LJ, Ronnie Brown, Chris Johnson, Lendale, Slaton and Benson. Considering my crappy draft spot I am ok with how they panned out along with Rivers being a steal so far. Going LJ, Slaton, and Ronnie this week.

I think you can ignore matchups with Johnson. He's an everyweek play.
I think this is a good point. I have a hard time benching guys that have produced. I know Bush is facing Minnesota, but I have little choice but to start him. Even if I had a Slaton-type I probably wouldn't pull the trigger.

Who would you play him over this week, LJ or Ronnie Brown?
LJ
I have this same issue Chris Johnson or LJ. The thing with CJ is he is explosive but he also splits carries. I think we have seen the last two weeks that LJ will get the ball.

I got lucky in my draft and ended up with MBIII, Turner, Ronnie Brown and CJ. We must start 3 RB so I am sitting CJ this week as I feel that MBII, Turner and Brown all have much better matchups. For what it's worth.

I benched Chris Johnson last week for Fred Taylor because of matchups and it cost me my game...

There's no way KC will punch holes in the Carolina defense like they did vs Denver. I would be wary of starting LJ over Johnson. Even though CJ splits with White, against a stout team like Baltimore, expect Johnson to continue to get 2/3 of the work, and all of the GL touches outside of 3 (and he showed he can get to the corner with ease with Minnesota - so expect his number to get called).
