Rudi Johnson this week (1 Viewer)

OK, I don't want this to be a WDIS and I don't want to reveal subscriber content, so let's just say Rudi is ranked fairly high this week despite missing key offensive lineman, playing the #2 run defense, coming off a 62 yard performance against the Browns, and the Ravens coming off holding Parker to 22 yards. Yet he's ranked ahead of the guy(s) I was going to bench him in favor of.

Yes, I can (and will) make my own decision, but Dodd's ranking has me wondering what I'm missing here?

hint: check Rudi's history both v. the Ravens and under the lights.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Rudi do well tonight. With the way Cin has been able to move the ball through the air and the confidence Bal has in their ability to stop the run I'd think things might open up on th ground a bit for Rudi.

I Don't have him but i'd be really tempted to start him if I did.

He has several good games against Baltimore in the past. He averages about 25 carries vs Baltimore, though his totals vary widely depending on how the rest of the team plays. Cinci typically sticks with the run game to avoid turnovers and keep Baltimore's defense from scoring points. In games where Cinci falls significantly behind and is forced to throw, Rudi's carries are noticably fewer. On top of this, Rudi just flat-out plays well against Baltimore He probably has the one of the higher YPC stats of any RB vs Baltimore over the past few years.

Also, there is rain in the forecast. Who wants to be throwing passes that are slipping out of the QB/WRs hands and may be up for grabs by a Ravens defender?

Grind it out. Protect the ball. Cincinnati knows this.

Interesting point that I hadn't thought of. Little help?
I think espn.com keeps that stat, but don't quote me on it.I recall several prime time cincie games where Rudi had fine games and very few when he didn't.
I looked around, but couldn't find anything beyond basic stats. A google search didn't reveal anything either. Guess I'll keep an eye on this one.

FBGs is a great site and worth every penny, but I'm glad I went with my own analysis/gut on this one.

I took it hard too, The ravens D, Rudi(shoulda went with KJ), and Heap! Good lord, Rudi blows, he has nothing special, after watching last night, I'm thinking about just dropping the idiot, waste of space! Still can't get that sour taste out of my mouth! YUCK!

Yeah, drop the fantasy #10 RB. Good reaction.

If Rudi starts getting his O-lineman back (Braham was close this week, and Levi sounds like he wil lbe back soon), he'll be a nice choice during the playoff stretch. Facing the Baltimore rush D with a makeshift offensive line is brutal.

What kind of taste did your defense leave in your mouth?

Moving to your 3rd starting center tends to do that to a RB. Also, the Ravens were giving up a lot of short slant passes so they didn't need much out of the running game.

Never start a non lock stud RB (LT/LJ) against one of, if not THE best defense. ;)
Not that I did, but where were you before the game :D
I didn't see this thread but when I did (guess it got bumped after the game?) I was suprised.

What is the problem with Rudi? Why hasn't he been performing up to expectations? Is there a reason?

I believe this has been addressed in the thread already. 3 backup lineman including 2 rookies and this week a third string center may have something to do with it.

Thanks, I was a little drunk and you putting in one concise sentence was very helpful.
