RUMOR - Scheffler to Buffalo? (1 Viewer)

Sorry, only a rumor with no link or substancial evidence.

Co-worker came back from lunch and said on Sirus Radio that Buffalo signed TE Tony Scheffler today. Bus Cook was visiting with Buffalo and worked out a deal. No details of the deal were released.

NOTE: Bus Cook also represents Jay Cutler, but there was only "speculation" on their discussion of a Cutler deal there. Nothing of any substance. Buffalo was very interested in Cutler when he came out even though they had drafted JP Losman the year before.

Edited Title....

I heard the discussion on Sirius. It was pure speculation on the part of the caller. Makes sense, but still, pure speculation.

Maybe this would be Buffalo's first sign they may go HARD after Cutler....possibly getting his best friend as his TE wouldl be a start...Iunderstand it might just be a rumour.

Here is a link to a report on CNNSI:

Cutler's agent in Buffalo

Former Bills offensive lineman Ruben Brown disclosed during his WECK radio show on Monday that agent Bus Cook was in Buffalo. Apparently, former Bills receiver Eric Moulds, who was represented by Cook during his playing career, mentioned to Brown that Cook was in town. According to NFLPA records, Cook represents no players currently under contract with the Bills. Thus, speculations is centering on a possible trade of Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler or tight end Tony Scheffler, both of whom are Cook clients. Our buddy Brad Riter of WECK thinks that Scheffler is the more likely trade target. But, hey, it's more fun to ponder the possibility of a new quarterback heading to town.

I thought Edwards did a decent job in BUF..

I'd have to assume that its for Scheffler as BUF's TE situation isnt very good

Okay. I edited the title to reflect more of a possible activity, not a signing.

Buffalo signs TO for a 1 yr deal to play across from Lee Evans. They are looking at a suspension for Lynch. They need a WR3/TE for the short underneth routes. Fred Jackson can handle the screens/dumps off passes in the flat. TE is surely a need. Draft looks reasonable for TE's, but not as sure as Scheffler.

I like the move. Adds value to the passing game.

Pure speculation here.... but what would happen if Cutler was there chuking the rock to TO & Evans with his good buddy Scheffler! He has the arm for the windy games in Buffalo!

Unless McDaniel really liked what he saw from Edwards while he was with NE. Maybe the teams will swap QBs with Buffalo throwing in a pick or two.

From the Buffalo News:

Cook was not in BUF

The agent for Denver quarterback Jay Cutler and Denver tight end Tony Scheffler was not in Buffalo on Monday, according to his assistant.

Cook was in his office in Hattiesburg, Miss., all day yesterday and is there again today, his assistant reports. A local radio report Monday night said Cook was in Buffalo.

It's hard to imagine an agent such as Cook coming to visit a team unless it was in the very last stages of closing a deal. Furthermore, while the Broncos have been reported to be shopping Scheffler on the trade market, sources in Denver say they have not granted the tight end permission to seek a trade on his own. So any team that would talk to Cook about Scheffler would be tampering, presuming no permission has been granted.

So while the power of the internet rolls on, we will wait today to see what comes out of Marshawn Lynch's meeting in New York with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The expectation is no ruling will be handed down today, but the NFL should have some type of comment on the situation.

If they trade Scheffler to the Bills then the Broncos will definitely be concentrating on getting the ball to the WR's as they'll only have Graham and Putzier at TE and I don't see either of those guys putting up big numbers. Guess that might mean if Scheffler goes Denver could be looking at drafting one of the top rookie TE's.

Interesting.... Lee Evans, TO, and Scheff not too shabby. Now they just need some consistent QB play to get these guys the ball. I remember last year when Buff played Cleveland, Lee Evans had "0" targets for the game. Unbelievable.

Why would Buffalo endanger repeating what happened in Dallas by bringing in a TE who is a viable pass catching target? TO would FLIP.
