Rumors of Trade Up... (1 Viewer)

GRIDIRON ASSASSIN

Footballguy
I'm hearing rumors that the Bears may be dealing down to take the Raiders 2nd round pick.

The Raiders would then have their current 7th pick, and the Bears 26th pick. Rumor has it they want to draft Darnell Bing with the 26th pick.

I just don't know why they feel compelled to jump up to take him, as I think he'll be there waiting for them in Round 2.

It's probably just Al Davis being Al Davis.

I read the same rumor at nfl-fans.com

I hope the Bears do it.....get the 2nd rounder and the Raiders 3rd rounder. Then with 2 2nd rounders and 1 3rd rounder, the Bears can get a S, TE and BPA

Good deal for Oak I would say. I suppose that Chi would be getting proper value for the deal, but don't they need/want a S just as badly as Oak.

Nope, the Bears are targeting an OLB, WR or TE with their first few picks.Or perhaps a DB.

Both outside linebackers contracts are up after the '06 season, so the Bears HAVE to draft an OLB, and they can get a solid one in this draft.

Janikowski is getting a little older, may be time to start to groom their next 1st round kicker.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them jump up into the late first, but my hunch for a target is Kiwanuka.

Could the Bears be targetting Sinorice Moss with the Raider's 2nd rounder? Makes sense after missing out on Randle El.

Am I wrong in thinking that Brown was playing very well near the line of scrimmage and is a step slow to be a free safety? He is a very smart player that gets in good position but he seems to me to be a better fit at strong safety.

Didn't anyone notice that the Bears often play Cover 2 and cornerbacks were completely alone versus Steve Smith? All year the safeties were late to help corners on deep routes. Harris is a quality player but struggled a bit in zone coverage. He will get better but the Bears have no other plus range safeties.

I see them considering players like Ko Simpson, Jason Allen, or Donte Whitner early. All appear to be good deep FS material with some coaching in certain places. Into the 3rd, players like Pat Watkins or Anthony Smith would fit well.

bears are definitely looking for a DB considering ricky manning's problems and the trade of green.

they would are then looking for a OLB incase briggs doesn't sign and a TE/WR.

i think trading Oak will be a great idea.

that would give them a chance to get 3 quality players in the top 70.

TE is deep in this draft and they would be happy to get one in late 2 or 3.

my guess is the first pick would be DB.

A lot of people think he may go to PIT with the last pick in the first to fill Randle-El's shoes.

I think the Bears will be targeting safety at some point in the draft. Despite Manning's issues, his signing makes Chris Harris the weak link of the D.

If they were attempting to sign Archuletta, they obviously see the position as a need. But they should be able to get a quality guy with that early 2nd, unless Whitner somehow fell they'd just be reaching for the position in the 1st.

I also think the Mike Green trade is an indication that they might be targeting safety. They'll need to come up with one to carry as many as last year...

The Bears have Mike Brown at SS and Chris Harris at FS, with Todd Johnson for depth - and Cameron Worrell and Brandon McGowan providing further depth.

Nutty Tillman/Nate Vasher are the starting CBs with Ricky Manning Jr. taking over for Azumah at the nickle and Dante Wesley/Chris Thompson/Rasheed Davis/Alphonso Marshall battling it out for the other roster spots.

They have jack squat behind Briggs and Hunter Hillenmeyer at OLB. Mark my words, they'll be going OLB with one of those Day One picks.

Angelo has NEVER drafted a DB in Round One while at Tampa or Chicago.

Ah, the proverbibal Raiders trade up and grab a guy based solely on speed and waste a pick move. Happens every year.

Oakland would trade up higher then 26 for that first round kicker. ;)

While I agree that the Bears will not take a DB in round one, I do not see the depth you allude to at FS. None of those players have plus range. I am more strongly seeing a Pat Watkins or Anthony Smith in late 2nd to 4th.I have been thinking the bears are going OLB early in this draft for a while. They probably are looking to trade with the Raiders or someone else to move down and pick up an extra mid round pick. As it stands right now, I see OLB and TE the first two rounds. Then a FS in the 4th, the early safeties have more questions in zone coverage recongnition and abilities than the safeties available in the 3rd or 4th round.

Demeco Ryans, Bobby Carpenter, Thomas Howard, and Roger McIntosh are all available somewhere in that 1st/2nd round swing. The Raiders 2nd rounder would stil provide one of these players. I wonder if Briggs will be the SLB if one of these players is nabbed.
