Runningbacks - Playoffs Edition (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
If your league trade deadline has not passed now is the time to move.

Target

Addai - He's got a super soft playoff schedule (Cin, Det, Jac) and he's on a team that is fighting for a playoff spot.

Larry Johnson - Coming up - Buff, Oak, Den, SD, MIA - Some pretty choice matchups in there. He could singlehandedly get you to the title game.

McFadden - Could be had cheaply in redrafts and is facing one of the cakiest schedules possible in Den, KC, SD, NE, HOU....unreal.

Thomas Jones - Great schedule but will have to overpay - Den, SF, Buff, Sea

Ronnie Brown - Buff, SF KC - looks good to me

Dish

Michael Turner - Terrible playoff schedule (NO, TB, MN)

Barber - OOOOOOOOF!!!~ (Pitt, NYG, Balt) Plus I think we'll be seeing Felix again

Jacobs - Swollen knee, two healthy backs behind him, division will be locked up and a playoff schedule consisting of: Phi, Dal, Car (and if your league plays week 17 - a road game against Minnesota)

There's some more that I can't think of right now as I did this by memory.

TJones and RBrown are unattainable right now.

I see no reason to deal Barber.

I got Addai last week for my last minute move.

But can we be sure Larry Johnson will play all of those games? Is there some chance that he will lose carries since they're cooked for this season? Similarly, with Ronnie Brown, we know he's in a RBBC. Maybe Ricky Williams is a good bargain buy?

Derrick Ward. The obvious injury situation, but more importantly, he's a guy who seems to be well liked by his coach and team, and currently has 531 yards and he's stated he would like to get 1000 on the season. I think the Giants will give him every opportunity to get there, and POSSIBLY be groomed to take over the gig from the free agent Jacobs.

There's no logical reason to deal Barber. He will get the ball in bulk and is always a TD threat.
Thank me later

Have you seen his schedule?

I admit I'm worried about Turner, but I'm going to have to hope he performs. My three starting running backs are Forte, Turner, and Slaton. Could be worse...

I've got McFadden on my bench. He's been on my bench the whole season. I'm really wondering: suppose he starts getting significant touches the next couple of weeks: dare I start him over Turner during the playoffs?

How about Hightower for week 14, guess right on Seattle RB for week 15, Frank Gore for week 16.

TJones is the #1 RB over the past 3 weeks and has a nice scheduled.RBrown has heated up and has a great schedule. I just don't see who would let them go. Point is they certainly aren't "buy low" guys so I don't know how much you'd have to give up. I guess if the team with TJones/RBrown was VERY deep in RB and needed a top QB/WR badly, then you might have a deal.

Add to the fact that I am pretty certain Felix still has not practiced since injuring his leg and I am not sure how much he will eat into Barber's touches the rest of the way.

Outside of the GB debacle, CHI has been pretty stout against the run all year, tho the other two are good.

I just snatched him off the wire after today's news about Deuce and also after re-looking at that schedule. Any RB against Detroit is a threat to score on any play. I have sat on Ward all year on both teams. I grabbed Bradshaw in the league where Thomas wasn't available.Gotta update my sig now.

Unless they play Pittsburgh again, I am not sweating their schedule either....made that mistake by benching Jacobs last week.

can I thank you now, and later, and then again another time?!? You're here to...pump me up!

This topic has been beaten to death. Search it.
What the hell is your problem? Why do you feel compelled to post comments like this? It surely is not your role to determine the "worthiness" of posts on this board! If in fact this were a "dead topic", then let it die on it's own. TIA

I am pretty much set at RB with MBIII, Portis, DWill as my rotating starters but I lost Graham and needed to replace him.

I Just picked up Dunn and S.Morris and Pierre Thomas is still on the wire. I am considering dropping Orton for him but my only other QB is Thigpen because I lost Schuab.

Look at Dunn's schedule if he can stay healthy.

12 11/23/08 @ DET Great

13 11/30/08 NO Decent

14 12/8/08 @ CAR Bad

15 12/14/08 @ ATL Decent

16 12/21/08 SD Great

not too bad

Sammy Morris

12 11/23/08 @ MIA Decent

13 11/30/08 PIT Bad

14 12/7/08 @ SEA Great

15 12/14/08 @ OAK Great

16 12/21/08 ARI Decent

I think if i want to sit Barber against the Giants I should be alright in Week 15 any way. The Giant defense is probably the only defense I would consider benching Barber against on his Schedule.

is Ward or Bradshaw the corect pick up? I'm leaning toward Bradshaw
Is Ward healthy? I thought he was the handcuff.
Ward is probably the better handcuff but if Jacobs is out or limited I would have to think that both Ward and Bradshaw will get their touches which could limit both of their values.
Ward is the more "sure thing" as far as historical distribution of touches. Bradshaw only saw the field last year when Ward was injured, but that said, anyone who's seen Bradshaw can tell how electric he is so I'd call him the guy with a higher ceiling. Ward's more involved with the passing game, FWIW, so if you're a reception league, definatley Ward.Frankly, if you can add both guys, do it.

You misspelled it. It's F A R G A S.

I am not sure you could afford both guys, esp if you are backing up QBs etc for the playoff run. NYG schedule Weeks 14-16 looks like : PHI, @DAL , CAR . I think PHI and @DAL are probably ok games, but none of these are pushovers against the run. Ward might have more value simply because he can be (and is) used in the passing game.

What about Frank Gore? no one is talking about him. He could be a factor down the stretch and someone to acquire.

I'm holding onto Sammy for that schedule...hopefully I'll still be in the mix.

Target

Forte- rams, vikes, jags, saints, packers, texans

Addai- chargers, browns, bengals, lions, jags, titans

Dish

Westy- Ravens, Cardinals, Giants, Browns, Redskins, Cowboys

Serioulsy considering dealing Westy staight up for one of these guys

I would think if you are desperate and have room, grab buckhalter from the Eagles. Granted Reid is a complete jackass and doenst use the guy but after the recent backlash towards him, he might have to start using him because Westbrook isnt getting any healthier

Ravens just got run all over. Giants/Ravens are at home. Romo/Roy/TO/Felix/Witten thats not bad news for Barber, thats GREAT news. Inside the 5 he's automatic for the TD.I'd actually be buying Barber from "sharks" who are freaking out over the matchups.

Coming into this season I chose to keep Johnson over Barber strictly b/c of Barber's tough playoff schedule. I knew Barber was going to be a monster/outperform Johnson during the regular season, but his playoff schedule is brutal! For 6 years straight I've lost either the game before the fantasy bowl or in the fantasy bowl because of my team not showing up. I wanted to do everything possible to not see that happen again.

Kudos to you for actually making the playoffs with Larry Johnson leading your team instead of Marion Barber  .

Just snatched Ricky off the wire. Might sit on my bench, but RBs tend to get dinged this time of year. If Ronnie misses any time, Williams could be money.
