I think he is a bad start but all I have is Morris or Faulk to replace him. So do like we always do. Roll him out there and hope they get out to a lead.My guess is he goes for his usual 10-12 pts. Is Pittsburgh really all that formidable on D this year anyway? He's coming off of a huge game against the Bears, but he's also had some stinkers recently.Thoughts?
Depends if GB is "in control".The run game was not great against Baltimore...but for once McCarthy did stick to the run game and kept trying to work it in as much as possible. It was not a great game at all for Grant...but even averaging 2.3 per carry, he got 18 carries. That said, it was one of McCarthy's better called games offensively and not sure how much you will see that again. And since his 2 TDs put me out of the playoffs...Id bet a lower point total this week of course. It is not a great start. Tough D and GB has shown a willingness to move away from the run when they do not have much success early. I think we will see more of Green and Jackson as better outlet receivers.Having said that, I will probably start him over D. Williams @ Minnesota. Lesser of two evils imo.
I shouldn't have to still be telling people no one is "stealing touches" from Grant.I think we will see more of Green and Jackson as better outlet receivers.

where are they going then? Is he just giving them away?By my calculation, in the first 4 games of the season, Grant averaged 90% of the teams RB touches. In the last 4 games, Grant has averaged 73% of the team's RB touches.wasnt Jackson hurt early?I think someone "stealing" touches isnt a valid reason to sit Grant. Pitt D is a different story. But hoepfully he can flop his big butt in the endzone once this weekendI shouldn't have to still be telling people no one is "stealing touches" from Grant.I think we will see more of Green and Jackson as better outlet receivers.where are they going then? More like about 78% for the last 4 compared to 88% for the first four.Though, in the last 4 you have other factors like Jackson being more healthy, Green being around...later in the year, the team being up in those games so rushing more (about 25 more carries to spread out in the last 4 games compared to the first 4) and also trying to keep Grant fresher for the stretch run and hopefully post season. He was getting about 16.75 carries the first 4 games...now 19.75.Nobody is "stealing" any carries.I shouldn't have to still be telling people no one is "stealing touches" from Grant.I think we will see more of Green and Jackson as better outlet receivers.where are they going then? hmmm:I counted touches as rushing attempts and receptions - might be the difference - but here is what I came up with:(I counted all touches from Grant, Jackson, Green, and Wynn)Week 1: 17/21Week 2: 17/17Week 3: 27/28Week 4: 15/18Total: 76/84 = 90%Week 11: 23/33Week 12: 23/29Week 13: 18/25Week 14: 23/32Total: 87/119 = 73%It is actually a pretty interesting comparison. In the last 4 weeks, the packers faced the 5th, 6th, 24th, and 25th best run defenses. In the first 4 weeks, they faced the 3rd, 4th, 24th and 27th best run defenses. Since the percentage of touches is definitely down, Grant's production is very closely tied to the offensive game plan. If the Packers abandon the RBs you could easily see a 15-17 touch game against a stout defense. Against the number 1 ranked running defense, I could see a 15-55 day right in Grant's wheelhouse in terms of expectations. And if the Packers abandon the run altogether (for a short passing offense) I think Grant gets an even lower percentage of touches - and a 4 point fantasy day.More like about 78% for the last 4 compared to 88% for the first four.Though, in the last 4 you have other factors like Jackson being more healthy, Green being around...later in the year, the team being up in those games so rushing more (about 25 more carries to spread out in the last 4 games compared to the first 4) and also trying to keep Grant fresher for the stretch run and hopefully post season. He was getting about 16.75 carries the first 4 games...now 19.75.Nobody is "stealing" any carries.
Oh, I misread touches and just counted rushes by RBs or FBs. Took out Rodgers runs and I think the one lone end around to Driver.I just see that they have been running the ball a lot more the past few weeks...that coupled with having Green on board, Jackson being healthy, and it being closer to the end of the year is what has the touches going up for others...but nothing dramatic as he is still getting more carries than earlier in the year.hmmm:I counted touches as rushing attempts and receptions - might be the difference - but here is what I came up with:(I counted all touches from Grant, Jackson, Green, and Wynn)Week 1: 17/21Week 2: 17/17Week 3: 27/28Week 4: 15/18Total: 76/84 = 90%Week 11: 23/33Week 12: 23/29Week 13: 18/25Week 14: 23/32Total: 87/119 = 73%It is actually a pretty interesting comparison. Me too!I'm actually trying to decide between him and the guy on the other sideline, Rashard Mendenhall. They seem to take turns doing well when they're on my bench.

I think Forsett has more upside than Grant this week. I see at least 80 yards for Forsett where Grant will be closer to 50 I think..I have him in right now...but I'm scared. I've easily been a dominant team all season, but now I'm kinda scared. I was gonna go with Harrison against KC but then he sucked it up big time against PIT...and Jennings got his job.Julius for some reason touches the ball in SEA, so even though they go against TB I am thinking Grant is better than Forsett. I don't really wanna start Chester alongide AD, and Snelling against the Jets isn't exactly a shark move either. I'm really lost.
The problem is...the Packers Oline is not as good as the Pats Oline was. While they can do some of that...they can't risk Rodgers that much against a D like Pitt.Does anyone remember a few years ago when New England went to Minnesota and played the Vikings? The Vikings were right at the peak of that great stretch of dominant run defense and were getting all this attention. Pass defense, however, wasn't that great. So the Patriots came in and opened up with 5 WRs on the first snap and played that way almost the whole game. Just picked the Vikings apart. Almost no rushes until later on in the second half if I remember correctly.I just have this nagging feeling that we might see something similar with the Packers against the Steelers this week. And that scares the crap out of me as a Grant owner. McCarthy loves to throw. The Steelers run D is stout, but their pass D has been vulnerable. Rodgers has good ability and lots of weapons in the passing game. I could see Grant with less than 10 carries. It's conceivable anyway.
Man.. Why did you have to post this. I was all set on benching Grant this week for Forsett & will now have to rethink that position.. Grant just seems like a bad play this week with limited upside. I guess he does get 18 touches that Forsett doesn't 100% get.. choices choices...I wouldn't bench Grant for a flavor of the week like Forsett or Ganther. I have him in a "safe" low-end RB2 tier that includes Addai, Mendenhall, Maroney, Jacobs, and SJax. Individual choices within that tier depend on upside/risk averse outlooks for your lineup. I can't see Grant going over 100 total yards and one TD (Steelers have still only allowed 4 TDs on the ground this year), but he is also good for 60-80 yards in just about any scenario.
Yeah me too...except I was thinking of starting Ganther ahead of Grant (w/ CJ3 and Moreno). Oh this blows.Cheers.Man.. Why did you have to post this. C'mon, I'm a FBG vet. I don't believe in WDIS threads outside of the assistant coach forum, nor do I need others making my decisions for me.That said, I really value the opinions and insights that come out of this board and wanted to gauge the consensus on Grant against Pitt in order to help me decide who to start. I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that others would benefit too from Grant vs. Pitt discussion to help them make similar choices.Mr.Pack said:Who are your other RB's we'll tell you who to start.

Same here...that have an 8 point lead with AD, and he's only got Shiancoe...that Peterson TD run was amazing, and gives me a secure win i think.Grant proves once again that in any given week, he's basically a lock for 10 points. If CJ4.24 isn't your league MVP, I think Grant makes a big push. He was even with or outscored higher drafted RB2s for me every week this year, and 3 times blew up for a big one. Thomas Jones (if not for today's crap) CedBen, and Ray Rice are the other guys I think show up on a lot of championship teams this year.I think grant owners forced to start him should be satisfied.I benched were I had options (Beanie Wells). And started him were I had to. More then satisfied, and still alive in all 5 of my leagues.
Glad I followed my own advice and sat him for Mendenhall.Does anyone remember a few years ago when New England went to Minnesota and played the Vikings?
