Ryan Moats (1 Viewer)

You think Philly will cut Moats soon? I read where he doesn't fit their system, but I always thought he was a Westbrook clone, so to me he is perfect for their system.

I think a lot of FF owners thought this guy was going to be a star after showing some promise his rookie season. I know he hasn't really been given the chance, but apparently he doesn't show much in practice.

How much longer to you suspect that Ryan Moats will reside on FF 20 man rosters? I know in the deep dynasty leagues with 24 or more players he will probably be rostered for a few more years.

I doubt it. Reno Mahe will almost certainly be cut, and Philly will try to aquire or draft a bigger back as a change of pace to Westbrook. Moats will only see significant field time if Westbrook goes down. I would hesitate to try to handcuff him to Westbrook until I see who Philly brings in, but Moats still has plenty of potential and should probably still be held in larger dynasties.

I thought I remember from last season that he was having trouble picking up the system, which I believe is one of the more complicated in the league. If he figures that out, he should be able to be Westy's backup.

No offense, but I hate the nickname "Westy".

I liked him quite a bit coming out of college and he had some really nice runs as a rookie, but he fell off the face of the earth last season.

Wondering what happened myself.

Its my belief that confidence is the source of Moats struggles so far. He has run "small" and tentative, and only had success when he got wide and just outran the defense in 2005. The Eagles system is indeed very difficult and could be causing Moats to think more than do. I talked to a college teammate of his at the Shrine Game, and he told me that Moats always had confidence problems, even after his outstanding 2004.

I still believe in Moats ability... a change of scenery could do wonders. Sadly, he's probably just a long shot at this point.

If Philly brings in another RB would they keep Moats and Mahe? It seems to me they value Mahe more. I don't know the contract situation for either, but I guess it would play a role in their decision. I would think that if Moats is suffering from a confidence problem that Philly wouldn't have much confidence in Moats either.

Who's gonna back up Westy then? After all Westy isn't the biggest back around so Westy needs someone to relieve him from time to time. Philly would be in big trouble if Westy goes down since Westy is one of the better backs in the league.

Big Westy fan here.

It's so gay.

It would be nice to see what he can do on a different team. What team(s) do you think he could be successful for?

Cecil swears Denver was interested in acquiring him last year.
Cecil Sapp? jkYeah, I heard the same thing during the Denver RB FA / Trade Frenzy.
There's always Childress in Minny, but he seems to have tried to build a more powerful run game than Philly did, and they already have MeMo there who is as good or better than Moats at the same things so . . .
