Ryan Torain DEBUTING TODAY spelling Pits... (1 Viewer)

Not feeling the love just yet for Torain but a little anxious to see what he can do.

PPR league and I'm playing Shaun McDonald over Torain. 4 catches for 50 yards netting 9 points sounds better than rolling the dice on Shanahan's head.

Where I can afford a loss I am rolling the bones non-ppr over the likes of Hightower, Edge A. Bryant and A. Gonzales.

@ Home, little depth in the denver backfield, Cutler pinkie (problem?) and against MIA. I like it.

With Gore's bye, I am starting Torain over A. Pittman (looks like SJax is ready to go). Denver badly needs a running game, let's hope Torain is the answer.

Swamp

With Gore and DeAngelo off for me today, I'm giving Torain a shot in my flex position. If I wasn't comfortably ahead in the standings in that league, I'd probably look for another option, though.

In a PPR league I had two spots to fill between a banged up Mcghaee, Cedric Benson, Torain and A. Gonzalez. I ultimately decided Torain was my last option so he's not starting. For once I hope I'm wrong and Torain lights it up and becomes a fixture in my lineup going forward.

I'm going with Faulk over him this week. Hoping he does well so I can start him Thursday night against the Browns.

Sitting Torain until I see something. In my #3RB slot, starting TJones over him for today.

Thinking about it...It's either Torain, Fred Jackson or Rhodes. Not great options and maybe Torain has the highest upside (and downside) out of the 3 this week.

I almost feel like Shanny is the most anxious to get production out of him which is what excites me. He wants to show the league his next big find.

It's probably the safe bet to "wait and see" then again there is the genuis factor. You know the genuis factor. Starting Torain. He blows up. He's a catalyst in your victory. You get to talk smack to your league all week letting everyone know how much of a genuis you are.

Wow. This guy better be like the second coming with all the hype. Anything short of 175/3 TDs will seem anti-climatic.

Pretty sure your leaguemates won't be calling you "genius" tomorrow.

Nice reality check for the jaded Torain fans.

Newsflash, 5th round draft picks are longshots, it's more likely they will suck then do anything worthwhile.

Ummmm, I don't think this game says anything about Torain. It says more about how bad the Denver Def is and how Shanahan is more interested in letting Cutler sling INTs!

Two important items you're overlooking:1. Shanahan didn't want to play Torain. He admitted he wanted to give him another week of practice time but all the injuries at RB left him with no choice this week.2. The Dolphins have a good run defense. It was way too risky in my opinion to start Torain this week given these two factors. The fact he didn't do well isn't really a surprise when you take them into consideration. It also doesn't automatically mean Torain will stink the rest of the year. Maybe he will but I don't think today's game is proof of anything as far as he's concerned.

:lmao: Helps Torain too in that Pittman ran for an amazing 4 yards on 7 carries. HAHA

Woulda been nice to at least get some positive though--from either one--to see if Shanahan might go with a primary back.

Where it gets interesting for Torain is this coming Thursday against the Browns. It's a short week and Pittman didn't do well today. Will that lead Shanahan to give Torain a shot against a Cleveland run defense that was torn to shreds today? Or will it be the status quo? I think Torain owners who want to utilize him as a flex will have a tough decision this week.

Stop it. This shouldn't be a tough decision for anyone by now. If it is, it's probably time to find a new hobby.

:shrug:I like this part: "I think Torain owners who want to utilize him as a flex will have a tough decision this week." That had me rolling.

I was watching a few games but I coulda swore he broke a sweet run that was called back by a penalty. Whoever it was made some moves I havn't sen for a while out of a denver RB.

Glad you're amused. Not sure what you think is so funny. The point is the Broncos could have great success running the ball Thursday night against the Browns. So if you are an owner who wants to use Torain as a flex starter in that game, you will have a tough decision to make. It's a great matchup and Pittman didn't show much this week but is he healthy enough to get enough carries to merit possible flex status?

Honestly 2. is prolly more important. The Phins shut down all backs really. I'll be more interested in seeing how he plays next week. And if that was him on that run I describe above.

I'd actually consider him at flex, but would hope I have something better. between byes and a looming M jones suspension I may end up doing this.

At this point I'm leaning against it despite the incredibly tempting matchup. We'll see if we hear anything this week saying Torain's role will expand. If we get another report from Schefter saying Torain will split carries with Pittman I probably will roll the dice with him as my RB3. I don't see the Browns shutting down Denver's running game the way the Dolphins did today.

Schefter? The one that told us all that Michael Bennett was starting today? I'm sorry, but if he doesn't know wtf is going on in Tampa, he certainly won't know what the hell is going on in Shanny's head in Denver.

Schefter's one of the best beat writers in the game today. He's also a former Broncos beat writer. He's very clued in to what's going on in Denver. He isn't going to get every report right - nobody could - but he's money when it comes to reporting on the Broncos.

Peyton Hillis is the new Mike Shanahan 'greatest RB I have ever coached'.

The wheels never even got turning on the torain train. :pfffffttt:

Do you know how he got his gig at NFL Net? He was probably the only writer who has been able to get insight form Shanahan. He leaked the Portis-Champ trade days before it happened...at a time when no one else had the info.

Nobody's forcing you to listen to the info Schefter provides about the Broncos. But when he reports something about that team I listen because he's been on the mark a large number of times in the past. If you choose to ignore his info, that's your right.

So you think he has ceased communications with the Broncos organization, guy?

Just put this Oof! clown (Joined: 21-October 08) on ignore and don't waste your time responding to him. He's just here to be a troll.
