S Holmes vs Bal (1 Viewer)

Santonio Holmes has done well vs Baltimore.

2007 he had 4-110-2 and 4-98-1. Earlier this year he had 3-61-1

Pit has to throw to win vs Bal. That is a given.

Ward has a very large target on his back placed there by Bal (cheap hit talk, etc.), and gathers

attention from the Defense.

Just saying that he seems to be a good start.

Can someone tell me why he would not be, or what I am missing here?

No... I'm with you, brother. They will not be able to run, so the pass will be their only hope.

For me, it's down to Lance Moore or Holmes. Gonna sleep on it tonight.

This isn't history. It's current. Holmes' stat line earlier in the year won't win you a playoff game if he doesn't find the endzone. Teams with good fron 7 pressure have given the Steelers' offense fits this year. Baltimore qualifies as one of those teams.

If Ben has time to throw, his WRs can put up good stats. In Baltimore, I don't give Ben a lot of credit in '08. I'm starting Ward out of necessity, not because I have better options.

I watch every Steelers game, and I will say that I have noticed a trend.

The deep ball seems to have gone to Nate Washington for the last 3-6 weeks or so.

Hines Ward gets the short pass for the first down.

Hines is hard as nails, and will get his vs Bal. I have no doubt of this.

It seems to me that Holmes is more of an "intermediate" type reciever.

He gets the 10-20 yd reception and they hope he can break the first tackle

or make a move and accelerate to get yards.

I like his chances this week.

true enough, Holmes has produced fairly well recently except against NE (which actually was ok with a TD) and IND. I wouldn't expect a big game, but he is startable IMO.(I'd bench him for Moore)

I can't decide between him or Walter for my number 3. They both have crappy match ups.

You got to start Moore over Holmes.. way better match up for NO than Pitt...

It looked like Nate was getting the deep looks earlier in the season but Holmes has gotten quite a few as of late including that deep one last week that made his day stat wise.

I was wondering about the history there but I can't bench VJax again. I have AJ and despite the tough matchup I wouldn't bench him for Holmes either. The it comes down to Flex options. Sproles and Ward are much higher considerations with Ward looking like th e strongest possibility to start.

I'm wondering about the Pitt wr's myself this week. I have both Ward and Holmes, and also have Walter and Driver. Ward didn't do much of anything last week, and when they played Balt earlier in the year he was only targeted 3 times, catching 2 balls. Holmes has a history vs. Balt but he is hit or miss. Walter did nothing earlier in the year vs. Ten and Driver is hit or miss. Not a good week. I think I am leaning towards Ward of the two Pitt wr's.

He's going on my bench. He's disappointed me all year, and he doesn't get a chance to sabotage my playoff hopes. Check the very bottom of the Rushing and Passing Matchups emails that FBG just sent.

This is kind of my thinking, but the history is enticing. I don't know if I want my playoffs hopes resting on a guy who has been so inconsistent. I think I would feel better losing with Holmes going off on my bench, than losing with Holmes in my lineup getting me 2 points.

Not a bad way to look at it, especially when every week could be your last. I actually think the targets are going to be there(10+) for Holmes, just a matter of what he is going to do with them.
