SA & Benson visit Lions Tuesday (1 Viewer)

ProFootballTalk is reporting that free agent RBs Shaun Alexander and Cedric Benson visited with the Lions on Tuesday.Despite his inconsistent carries, rookie Kevin Smith has flashed talent and looks good in the passing game. Perhaps the lack of bounce in Rudi Johnson's step has the team looking to upgrade behind Smith. Alexander had predicted an imminent signing over a week ago, but there's been little league-wide interest Benson. We wouldn't rush to the waiver wire to acquire either one. LOL at Millen thinking either of these clowns is going to revive fan interest in the team. I really think this is going to be the year for full-on Lions fan revolt.

Just to get off topic, I think this will finally be the year we have blacked out home games. Of the 7 remaining home games, I'm setting the over/under on blackouts at 4.5. I'd go to 5, but one of the games is against Chicago.

DirectTV owes the lions a piece of my NFLticket fee... i would probly own season tickets anywhere else.... and Calvin is on all my teams

mlive.com is reporting that Vernand Morency was in for a visit as well.ETA: here's what beat write Tom Kowalski had to say about the visits:

A signing of any player is not imminent because the Lions are happy with their running backs and are only building a "short list'' in case one of their top runners gets hurt and Detroit needs a quick replacement. Contract negotiatons have not begun for any of the running backs who were brought in.

Game one would have been black out if it wasn't for that big furniture store down in Detroit buying up all the remaining tickets. If they play the way they have the first 2 games I'd rather see other games anyway.

Detroit Lion's football is ruining my passion for the sport. Can someone lay out the rules of switching teams to root for. Do I have to move to another state? Is there a mercy rule?

Shortly after 8, Tom "The Killer" Kowalski - Lions insider for years - Called into the show and reported that there is NO signing and there will be no signing of Benson or any other RB's. V. Morency, S. Alexander, and a few other players were in for routine interviews during an off day. These would be visits are for quick replacements incase of injuries.

My side note is and should be obvious to everyone - Hey Millen, Taking to you! - Is that this team needs LB'ers, and OLine not a head case RB that doesn't fit the football character of a Marinelli.

More over This team needs a Royal Flush of Millen, his aids and his scouts! Most think Marinelli is the right guy without enough talent on the field.

We want Bill Cowler in here. ASAP to take over for Millen.

How about a mother flippin o-line, maybe take travis fishers worthless ### out of there, everytime there is a long pass play, you see travis fisher chasing the guy and boddin riding the pine. I am done with the scum bag lions. I am looking for a new team, please feel free to give suggestions.

 I live in TX, my first football memory was Thurman Thomas going down and Barry coming in at OSU. Hooked.Became a Lions fan when they drafted Barry, been so since then. Barry retiring couldn't break me, but after 20 years - I am on the edge. The problem is.. NO WAY IN HELL am I going to be a cowboys fan, and the Texans just don't do it for me either.

Mort was on Mike and Mike this morning reporting that there would be no signing...said the same thing about creating a short list to make quick replacements if needed.Said the Lions in particular (as well as other teams) do this with different positions each week to keep a short list of guys they have interviewed and talked to and have someone ready to go if they need him. While there are plenty of things to bash the Lions and Millen for, being prepared in this manner does not seem to be one of them.

I became a Broncos fan a long time ago. I was stationed out in Ft Riley Ks and started watching them because of John Elway. I've been a fan every sense.

I'd suggest either the Saints.
