Sage Rosenfels lost for season, Bradlee Van Pelt to be signed (1 Viewer)

Gary Kubiak's local radio show is on and he just said that Sage Rosenfels is lost for the rest of the year with a broken thumb. He said the plan is to sign Bradlee Van Pelt who he had in Denver and who is coming in tomorrow.

Also he said they'll use the roster spot to activate Jerome Mathis, who they've worked out hard in practice the last couple of days. He also said Mathis needs to contribute in the passing game and not just be a kick returner.

They didn't give any additional info on it. It was the first I'd heard of it.

Seriously though, Kubiak worked with Van Pelt for a couple years in Denver so Van Pelt already knows the system.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Rosenfels injured his right hand making a second-quarter tackle. Rosenfels was the holder for a 59-yard field goal attempt which was short, and Rosenfels had to help tackle the Jets' Justin Miller. This may be part of the reason David Carr wasn't pulled from Sunday's game.

He laid a monster hit on the returner after the Texans missed a long field goal (59 yard attempt) to end the 2nd half yesterday. I would assume he got hurt then.
